kreutz2112

I have, and I agree, that's shitty of him to do. However, that doesn't make him fake, per se. The live albums that he has released demonstrate he is more than capable of putting on a great live show. Don't get me wrong, if he was scheduled to play coachella and didn't show or sent a DOOMpostor I'd be pissed, but DOOM doesn't give a fuck if I'm pissed. If he did, it'd go against his whole shtick, a shtick that I enjoy.

His unique lyrics is what makes him who he is. No one in the rap game can delivers lyrics like how he does, and I think its awesome how he his different than the status quo with his subject matter. Most of his raps have a comic book quality to them which is what makes him so great. I'm with you comeback kid. Never seen this guy live and I'd very happy if he was on the lineup. With that said, I think the chances are VERY low that he'll be in the lineup, as he hasn't done anything new in quite some time and his stock has fallen considerably since his no shows a few years back.

i feel the same way man, hes definitely underrated by many hip hop listeners but highly respected by producing critics. you mos def have to gain an ear for him cuz theres not a lot of people with that style, if any. i know he has a past of all that fake bullshit, but when you keep it that real and dont give a fuck to play a show, its like put yourself in his shoes, what if he doesnt like performing live. i feel like if he did get added to the lineup he wouldnt bail on something like coachella.

Yep, the only time I had an opportunity to see him he sent some tubby impersonator to lip sync his way through a setlist. Love his music, but I'll never waste time or money watching him "perform" again. There are tons of hack performers like Brittany Spears and Ashley Simpson who at least have the decency to show up in person and lip-sync their music. Never again.

The guy sucks live. Even when it's him.

The fact that some people are trying to pass off his antics as being part of his persona and accepting that he isn't the one actually performing is laughable. Some of you are making excuses for a lazy fuck who doesn't want to perform, so he sends an imposter, while you spent your money to see the actual Doom.

If Kanye or Eminem did this exact same thing you people would rip them a new asshole for it, but because Doom is Mr. Underground hip hop, you give him a pass.

Formula for Doom's success - write decent rhymes that your fanbase totally overrates; wear stupid mask and create a persona; be "underground"; get massive amounts of sheep to follow you.

Yea, fuck that Kanye West guy. MF Doom is a legend of the rap game while Kanye is a big time bitch.

Yes yes. A big bitch indeed.

It also shows what a fucking tool he is and what sheep his fans are.

Again, if people are going to crack on Kanye West for having a terrible singing voice and Eminem because he uses a backing track during his shows, imagine what people would say if they allowed some imposter to perform in their places.

The guy isn't anything special. His flow is garbage; his beats are solid at times. He is far from a legend and he is a proven jackass - even to his own fans.

Pre-order for limited edition Picture Disc/Serato 12" released by Nature Sound & Serato.

It was many years ago - 4, 5? - when DOOM was here in Los Angeles playing us a few tracks he'd just begun working on with Ghostface Killah. Like everyone else, we thought it was a great collaboration. And like everyone else, after the years began passing, we thought it would never happen.

Here it is: the first official release from DOOMSTARKS. This is a limited edition picture disc 12" with "Victory Laps" on one side (Vocal, Remix, Instrumentals) backed with Serato Control Tones used to DJ with Serato Scratch Live software. Expected ship date is September 6-13.

See link for soundcloud studio version of "Victory Laps"

On a track with the perfectly ridiculous title “Retarded Fren,” Radiohead gentlemen Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have hooked up with a somewhat unlikely collaborator, masked indie-rap hero DOOM. On the track, DOOM kicks his trademark slurry free-associative wordplay over wobbly bass-music subs and jittery strings that sound like they jumped straight from Greenwood’s There Will Be Blood score.

“Retarded Fren” is the first track from Lex Records‘ 10th anniversary compilation Complex. The label plans to post a new track every Monday for the next 10 weeks.

My homies, I would love to see Ghost and DOOM do their thing as DOOMStarks but I think a somethings come down in the villain. I love DOOM and all his associated acts but I think his health is starting to interfere with his performances. Come to think of it, his show was the only reason I wanted* to go to RockTheBells in L.A. this year.

He also just cancelled a show in NYC due to "heart problems". That really scares the shit out of me, too.

I thought Yeezy last year was perfect. I wonder what this year will bring as far as hip hop goes...

Seriously, fuck this guy. I like his music but he's a dick when it comes to live shows. When I was volunteering for Rock the Bells in 09 he gave the people who booked them such a headache by showing up over an hour late and pretty much causing a mini riot at the stage he was supposed to play at. Fans were pissed and shit was thrown on stage.

He also bailed after seeing that the crowd was pissed. That was a lame ass move.
You must be thinking this was one time thing that only happened at Rock the Bells 09 but it's not. He does this at almost every fucking show and will most likely pull this shit off at Coachella.

And the times he does play a set it's either some impostor or he fucking lipsyncs. Why the fuck would someone lipsync their rap at a live show? What the fuck are fans even paying for when they see him live? Is it to see guy walking around with a mask pretending to rap? He has zero stage presence.

Here's a clip from his RTB 07 set... fuckin LAAAAME.

I can't wait for both of these releases.

The upcoming DOOM/Jneiro Jarel collaboration-- under the name JJ DOOM-- will apparently feature Damon Albarn and Portishead's Beth Gibbons on a track. "Just did a song with Beth of Portishead and Damon Albarn!", Jarel tweeted this weekend, as Consequence of Sound points out. The album, called Keys to the Kuffs, was originally scheduled for a May release through Lex Records, but that seems unlikely at this point.

The single from Oh No's album Ohnomite is the DOOM track "3 Dollars", pressed on 5-inch vinyl. Stones Throw will have copies of these shipping by June 11th. CD & 2LP copies of the album Ohnomite are shipping now.

The label Five Day Weekend is making the 5-inch single available with two covers, the first with Oh No and Doom on either side of the record. The second cover will have the images superimposed. The illustration is by Charles Munka, design by Jeff Jank.
