Ecstasy makes that show seem like it's only a half hour long.
very true, at least in my case it is. i felt like the whole thing had just started when their set finally ended. but i'm not complaining it was the best night of my life and i wouldn't have had it any other way.

"You're watching French house robots nod their head on giant video screens about how fucking cool they are from the top of their giant spaceship-pyramid made of video screens. Take some fucking ecstasy at least, goddammit."
Exactly.

I'm flipping some motherfucking thing for Vegoose, that's all I know. 5 mere e pills alone simply will not do this time. Muse is gonna get short-changed on Sunday.
And as far as it feeling really short... um, I dunno. Maybe. At the same time it felt insanely long. Ecstasy's funky like that. Each "song" felt like a massive opera piece, like a four-hour long blowjob... but then it was over. Going back and watching the bootlegs, I have the distinct sensation of perfect recall of all those moments and at the same time can't fucking FATHOM how amazing it was to be there even though I was.
But that's the nature of a drug experience, particularly an ecstasy and music experience--the pleasure is so intense, so visceral, that you can't really remember exactly what it felt like. Can any of you, right here right now sitting in your chairs, tell me that you can truly recall the sensation of having an orgasm? I can, sort of, but not really, 'cause every time I come inside a chick it seems to boggle the mind all over again. TMI, whatever.
What's undeniably awesome about it, though, is that now every time I listen to and/or watch bootlegs I get almost total sensory recall of what it felt like to be watching and hearing that same shit ON FIVE E PILLS. Yes, I'm sure for anyone that was sober hearing the opening strains of Robot Rock sends chills up your spine or watching the encore makes your brain dance a funny little jig... but I can practically assure you it is nothing compared to the body-washing sensations of joy I experience. I haven't been able to stop listening to the bootleg since--it's like getting hundreds of rolls for your money.

I don't think i could handle that show on shrooms or cid. that would just be too much of a sensory overload. it would be like watching evolution unfold in front of your eyes and watching the world collapse at the same time. The concept of that show is every element of pure, raw human and energy, lyrics and all. I think I'll i just stick to grass. maybe a pill or two ;)

If I knew for sure I wasn't going to have a nasty comedown the following day (or some days afterwards), I would absolutely love to roll to Daft Punk at Vegoose. I was sober each of the last two times and had obviously great experiences but going out with a bang for their last show isn't such a bad idea. But still, I think it's silly to pull this whole, "Whatever you felt was NOTHING compared to what I felt and continue to feel," thing. It's kinda like what you gave Suprefan shit for last week for that whole Thrice thing -- why's it gotta be a competition? Live and let live, y'know? If people don't want to do drugs when they see Daft Punk, all it means is there are that many more available to you (potentially). As long as people aren't badgering you (so to speak) for doing drugs at the show, don't badger them for not doing drugs.

Easier way to get it through on a flight--just put it in your checked baggage. They barely scan the shit. Bury it in a big jar of hand cream. I've known so many people who've gotten such ridiculous quantities of various substances through--as long as it can't be mistaken for a terrorist substance they just don't give a fuck anymore.

From a techie/electronics nerd standpoint I would say they must have some killer fucking machines back there. Probably full on servers. I dont see a regular ol desktop being able to handle the processing power they would be demanding. Look at the Youtube videos of Ableton, its a ridiculously complex program. You know what would be fun (and legal) at Vegoose?Whippets.Yes that's right good old fashioned nitrous oxide.I found this in the Vegoose bylaws prohibiting the sale of the stuff, but nothing about not bringing it in for your own self. But try explaining it to a musclebound yellow-shirt-wearing guy named Vinnie.
The sale of nitrous oxide is strictly prohibited. Consider these facts:
Nitrous Oxide cuts off the flow of oxygen to the brain; numerous emergencies have occurred due to its ingestion, ranging from concussions (falling down after passing out) to, in extreme cases, death; and some confiscated "nitrous" tanks actually contain other toxic gases such as argon or automotive nitrous (which contains petroleum). If you purchase nitrous oxide you are likely to be supporting people who care nothing about, and contribute nothing to, the Vegoose community.

"when tanks get brought to a party, the party tanks"
nothing kills a party vibe faster than a bunch of people doing n20.
it's like turning it into a heroin den.
I think it's fine for at home, in an afterparty type setting.
but very bad for social settings.

Perhaps because you didn't need the "E" to enjoy the festival? Never, in my Coachella experiences, has the Sahara tent even been remotely close to an oval shape! And, no...what you experts call a stage off to the left? Sorry...A dragon...(EZ to make that mistake on while hallucinating, huh?) Beside...the Sahara tent that nite was overflowing with people...But that only made the square shape of that tent more prevelant... And, to close with...In all my years of living right down the street from Coachella, attending atleast 5 of them for 2-3 days....I can say one thing about these so-called experts...Your "Holier than Thou" attitudes are far from being the feeling that the Coachella Valley Music Festival is meant to bring to everyone... There. I said what I had to say...No pink for you guys anymore! And...BTW...Elephant is very tasty this time of year down here in COACHELLA, BABY!:2c
shit, woman, the Daft Punk show was weeks ago. you keep posting the same shit over and over again. we all get it, it was epic, it was awesome, it was amazing, it was wonderful. i know all this. but why do you repeat it over and over again? don't you have anything else to talk about? isn't there anything else that interests you?

you're fucking insane. where do you see an oval? it is clear from the video that the tent was rectangular in shape. plus, didn't you see the famous Sahara disco ball? plus, the tent looks the EXACT SAME as it did at coachella 2006.

Zzzzzz--for someone who complains about people posting the same shit over and over again, you sure do nothing but contradict people over the WRONG fucking things over, and over, and OVER, and FUCKING OVER again.
Brokendoll--I'll entertain you opinion about this seeing as you live there, but claiming that the video shows an oval shape is... well, fucking wrong. It's a fisheye lens if anything, chica, but I didn't see anything that made me think it was an oval shaped tent. Looked pretty much identical to the Sahara 2006 for me. And I wasn't on drugs the whole weekend so stuff that argument and argue the facts.
Kingsblend--no, in honestly I didn't read the whole piece. But the explanation that they have a shitload of different loops tied to shit is kinda silly to me. I've been listening to the Bercy bootleg and comparing it to the video boots from America as well as what I can recall of my personal experience in LA and can't pinpoint a difference for sure. Although there was something about the New York boot (I think) that seemed different to me--something about the transition from Face To Face into either One More Time or Around The World maybe, one of those two. In the Bercy boot and in my memory there was a nice long transition from Face To Face into Night Vision, and in the NY or one of the post LA shows I thought I saw/heard them make a direct segue from the upbeat part of Face To Face into the One More Time. Anybody else notice this? Am I crazy?
But in any event, that was practically the only change I noticed between the Bercy boot/my memory of LA/bootlegs of the US shows. Anybody pick up on any other differences? I'm not complaining, mind you--that's one difficult fucking show to choreograph lighting-wise, and the effect it produces is brilliant. But I still find it doubtful that there's anything they choose to do they don't at least rehearse point-for-point ahead of time and decide exactly how the show will go, and if that's the case I can't believe they'd still bother to factor human error into the equation and actually have any serious choices about the show in their hands every night. I'm a skeptic. ::shrug::

I kind of agree with you in the respect that I think that the generalities of the show are fixed but the details are left for the robots to decide kind of on the fly as the show goes. I was watching the Berkeley show today and I was thinking that there may be certain ques where the effects crew knows that the current song is done and the next song is coming in and they will switch the sample set while one of the robots finishes the current song the other robot will segue into the next song. I agree that alot of the show is are the same night in and night out and is predetermined. But getting from A to B to C to.....Z is different each time. I think you maybe oversimplifying it a bit and I think we are both right about certain things. We should combine forces.

Brokendoll, I'll forgive you if you retract that apology to Zzzzzzz promptly.
Kings--the thing is I think they more or less have to have it all decided like way before stage time, 'cause they HAVE to "soundcheck" the lighting order too. Fucking have to, man, there's no way they're taking the chance of fucking up something they obviously spent a lot of care handcrafting for optimal effect and then trying to quickly explain via radio what the changes are going to be to the guy controlling the lighting scheme.
So like maybe they did decide to change the bounce from Face To Face into One More Time for NY, but I can't believe they decided that on the fly. The decided it and rehearsed the new version. And now that I think about it, that was a youtube vid, so perhaps it was a mashup of various songs from Brooklyn and they didn't change anything anyway.
Fickle--good work on ripping that audio, I was going to suggest someone did that and I'd supervise. =) It is a really good bootleg, Supre--it would be perfect if not for the fucking focus.
As far as the movie clip goes--that's such a shitty cutting of the easiest fucking shit to make look cool in the world. The best parts of it are the shots of the tent. Aside from that they just throw Around The World over shots of the pyramid that are during Robot Rock and a constant transparency of the bobbing robot head and, like, closeups of the lights from Around The World, it looks like. Maybe that's just the intro, which I guess it would have to be... I hope. Fucking shooting and editing Daft shows would be SO easy to do well, I really hope they didn't make some of those choices for the whole DVD.

RotationSlimWang
08-17-2007, 12:06 AM
Yeah, I dug the footage from Wireless--that was about right, but it was half crowd shots. Fuck that shit. Bounce to a crowd shot for reactions, that's it. Not just to show some chick on a guy's shoulders with her shirt on. Who gives a fuck, chicks get on guys shoulders at every fucking concert? THERE ARE MOTHERFUCKING HUMAN-ROBOTS ON A MOTHERFUCKING PYRAMID-SPACESHIP UP THERE--SHOOT THE PYRAMID, ASSHOLES. But otherwise yeah, it was good. Haven't seen the MTV Japan shit. That clip right there looked like that annoyingly edited clip for Torino Italy from that webcast, which is weird. Who would've thought so many directors/editors would choose to bring back the half-transparency shot? That shit hasn't been used in a music video since the 80s, for Christ sake.

Theres nothing wrong with my current one. I just have tons of music and I can't take anything off because I listen to EVERYTHING on there.

Daft punk confirmed to play in Mexico City October 31
http://http://www.last.fm/music/Daft+Punk/+events (http://www.last.fm/music/Daft+Punk/+events)
that would be pretty sick if it were true, a halloween show? they would have to do something special. I know this wouldnt happen but back when they played shows after the release of homework, they would do teachers live (like actually sing it, not just play it) and once for a show on halloween they replaced all the producers names with names of horror movie villains...
"freddy krueger...michael meyers..." etc.

Who are the first two and the last two guys on the top row? I know Rick Rude and figure the guy next to him is Big Dick Dudley (or some other member of that ill-bred clan). And who's that guy in the bottom right corner next to Curt Hennig? Roddy Piper didn't die, did he? They should replace him with Chris Benoit. (Kidding.)
