o ya for sure. alone without any one from here, the forum, there are 15 of us. we are not stupid and have much experience in LA. even if, the area is shitty but thankfully is very well patrolled. my best friend lives near usc, and goes there. i've been hundreds of time walking drunk alone and have had no problems near and around the area. i am sure with this event, police presence should be tightened, both for our benefit and disadvantages.

Yeah, that's all I'm saying. I've known exactly one house of people who live right down in that area--three Crips and their mother/aunt. And I can tell you for a fact that at least back in Jersey when there would be raves or hippie fests in places like Camden, well, let's just say my friends heard that thumping bass like the sound of opportunity knocking.

Cops are going to be pretty busy with crowd control to begin with, I doubt there's going to be a lot of attention paid to people who didn't know the area well enough to know not to be walking around it at 2 am probably wearing goofy outfits and on drugs/drunk. So stay in decent-sized groups and pay attention everybody.

I tried doing that for an Andrew W.K. after party, where he was the guest DJ, and Flostradamus spun before him.
Anyways, I talked to him personally, and he said he would talk to the guy who organized the club thing and had the guest list. He actually took us over to him and we talked. The organizer said there was no way he could help us out. But Andrew W.K. said sorry and then had to go. He was actually going to be late, but took time to try and get us in.
Andrew W.K. is seriously one of the nicest, coolest, deepest and most intelligent people I have ever met.

my friend who im going to the show with, has a buddy in LA who produces dance albums, so hes got connections. that guy in LA just called my buddy to say he was in the car on the way to the standard to see daft punk spin on the rooftop. so yea, its a friend of a friend, so take it for what its worth, but if i lived in LA, i would sure as hell be on the phone with both standard hotels to see what the fuck was up. i dont know any details like times, or if its even open to the public, but shit, id be scalin the walls if i had to.

Alright I am back. It was half of DP and it was for an art exibit from DJ Falcon who happens to be a photographer also. So Thomas was there, he is one tall mofo and a couple of other peeps who I swear were probably Sebastian and Kavinsky sicne they all traded off spiining. There was an open bar until 10pm and mostly everyone was gone by then except for a few people. Pics in a bit.

Yeah he was "spinning" they had to laptops and a couple of other things, turntables ready but never used. Lots of good stuff, mash up of JT and DP Justice, Kavinsky some 80's stuff, Chemical Borthers. It was sad, cause downstairs some guy was spinning some hip hop and whatnot and it was just sad, cause everyone was chilling and nobody would or will ever know the greatness that was just aboce them happening.

Yes, this was a most confusing journey. I got very different answers from people in different places at The Standard--the bartenders actually inside the little art room where Thomas (or so Supre says) told me that it was entirely a bad rumor. But something told me they didn't know shit, so I went over and asked this little guy who was standing right next to Thomas whether or not the whole Daft Punk thing was just a rumor.

He said, "Why, what'd you hear?" I responded, "Well originally that Daft Punk was playing here tonight, but then people downstairs said just one of The Daft Ones are spinning here in this room." And the dude just gave me a knowing eyebrow raise and said, "Oh, he's here."

It was kinda cool figuring out which one I think was him, and also at the same time I wonder whether or not both the blond European looking dudes who did pretty much all the laptop-spinning throughout the night were actually both members of DP. Curiouser and curiouser...
