-Kylie was quoted on television as saying that her North American tour will be in April and May of 2011.

http://www.billsilvaentertainment.com/kylie/
-The exact dates have yet to be announced

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Folies_Tour
-Kylie finishes in Europe on April 12, and then goes to Japan, and then Mexico in May.

Maybe she'll go east coast to west coast for the US portion and jet off to Japan from Los Angeles? Kyliechella 2011!!!!

Such good news! As though a So Cal date was ever in doubt. I'm kind of surprised she's playing the Bowl again. The sound was way too low (as per usual at this damn venue) and the Bowl was 2/3 full at best. I wish she was playing a medium size indoor venue like The Shrine, Nokia or Gibson. If she's not going to sell out the Bowl on her first US tour ever, I'd be shocked if she did so on her 2nd tour in as many years.

Bitching about the venue aside, if she's coming anywhere near you, go. My friend who went with me last year was blown away. His knowledge of the Minogue canon was limited to, quote, "that 'la la la' song".

The amount of spectacle this woman can pack into a venue as intimate as the Hammerstein Ballroom is insane. The lights, the lasers, the moving video screens, the band, the dancers! Beyond all the spectacle, she's got a really dynamic yet approachable stage presence, she can sing live beautifully and unlike any other present day pop star, she is incredibly glamorous. This is how she made her entrance last time:

These are the prices for bowl show?

US $55.00 - US $150.00
US $55.00 Ticket + US $12.85 Fees =
US $67.85
US $150.00 Ticket + US $17.55 Fees =
US $167.55

Why only 2 price levels? Ugh. I agree with RageAgainsttheAoki, there's no way this is selling out after being hella undersold last year. I'll wait on tickets, unless i'm able to grab pool section at the onsale.

Yeah, you're going to be paying a shitload if you want a decent seat at the Bowl; yet another reason I can't stand that venue. Luckily, I don't think you'll have any trouble getting decent tickets on ebay and craigslist well after the on-sales. The more I think about it, the less this venue makes sense for her especially since we no longer have the allure of the "new kylie" smell. Two nights at a smaller venue (like the NY stop) would have made so much more sense. Maybe it's a prestige thing or a pr thing. Inevitably, a gig at the Bowl is going to get more press than any other venue in LA.

It should be noted that this is only the second time that Kylie has toured N. America; both tours having taken place during Obama's first term. This will clearly be remembered as the greatest civil rights achievement of his presidency.

I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed that we're not getting the European tour set up. It sounds like it will be almost overwhelmingly extravagant.

I only moved to LA from DC three months ago, so it's not that big of a deal. Virgin America is always having a sale, so it's rather cheap and I have more than a few free places to stay...

I'm still planning on getting tickets for the San Francisco date, but that's all General Admission, so I'm not too worried about waiting for the normal on-sale date...

Although the ticketing agency doing the presale fucked up and I now have to deal with that.... booked four tickets and it charged me in the wrong currency... So ended up getting overcharged by $400... Not really pleased about that. They only did that for the Bowl tickets though, not the DC tickets. And it seems I wasn't the only one, so hopefully that will be sorted shortly.

Anyhow... While I'd love to see the full show, I've no doubt what she brings will be amazing. Although, I'm also certain that my friend seeing her in London and Berlin, as well as the Bowl show will be sure to tell me all about how much more amazing those shows were :)

You just use the card, as long as the card belongs to the registered owner and the account info on Ticketmaster match that then Ticketmaster doesn't care. Ticketmaster won't ship tickets if the info on the account doesn't match the info on the card.

Apparently a friend picked up GA Floor tickets for me... it was $98... maybe the boxes on the balcony are the upper tier or something... not sure...

also, there was a non AmEx presale, not sure if there are still tickets available or not, but you can get to it here: http://www.artistticket.com/link/?s=kylie+usa

Eff TM.

My reading comprehension sucks. The presale is sold out for floor. Uhm.. I sure hope that 'sold out' refers to just the presale... it would really suck if there were no more floor tickets for Kylie in SF.

Also, $100+ for floor? Ouch..

HB, have you seen shows at Bill Graham before? I'm not a big fan of the seated sections there, unless I happened to have great seats (and I've never had reserved seating at a show there.... some of the ticket sale stuff implies there is not reserved seating even in the balcony, some of it says reserved).

Floor was $98 after fees... Looking at the seating chart and the presale page for the SF date, the $125 was definitely the "reserved loge" section... which is fine by me...

So excited. Still can't believe I've got front row seats for the DC date (although tickets going on sale at 0400 Eastern time probably helped with that)

That said: Anyone else buy tickets for the Hollywood Bowl show and also get overcharged? I found that I didn't get overcharged for the DC show, my friend didn't get overcharged for the SF show, but both I and another friend were overcharged for the LA show.

****SPOILER ALERT. (sort of; this is opening night from the European tour which will be different from the more intimate US tour)****

Um? What the fuck is this?? Did she just turn 63? Is this in preparation for her show at the Caesar's Palace, Reno? I expect a fair amount of camp from Kylie; that's a given, but this is soo... garish and cheap looking. And the "Splash Zone"? Guess we won't be missing much by not getting the water works in the US. It looks like Mrs. Minogue forgot to turn off the sprinklers before little Kylie went out in the yard to play dress up. And then she's following Madonna's cue by "rocking up" some of her songs? The "rock" version of Can't Get You Out of My Head sounds ridiculous. I hope this isn't a reflection of what we'll get in the US. Her X tour and the smaller US tour it was based upon were so futuristic and exciting... this looks like the opening act for Cher.

I hope I'm totally wrong about this and that the video does a bad job of capturing the fun, but yikes!

set down the crack pipe and then watch this again.

Totally in line with Kylie's live shows (Showgirl, in particular), and it looks spectacular. And the general theme of the costumes makes perfect sense since she's touring in support of an album named "Aphrodite"

that 'rock version' of can't get you out of my head sounds like the soulwax remix. if I recall correctly, that came about after Kylie heard the soulwax remix of ladytron's seventeen. she liked it so much she asked them to do a similar version of can't get you out of my head that she could use at an awards show. in the end she ditched it last minute and play another version at the awards show.

I'm sorry, but the whole Greek goddess motif is far too literal. It's so costumey and pageant like. She's obviously got far too many yes men around her. Yeah, I know she likes doing the vegas thing. The Showgirl tour was a bit camp for my taste, but even that tour had more of an edge to it. This one looks like The Lawrence Welk Show meets Cher on a budget. I feel like I should be watching this on a PBS pledge drive. I mean compare it to this...?

The jazzy version of Slow in that video is amazing.

Personally, I prefer songs to be reworked for live shows. Doesn't always work, but updating older tunes can breathe new life in them. Pet Shop Boys do this almost every tour, and has produced some brilliant renditions of classic material (most notably, I have very fond memories of Being Boring from the Nightlife tour).

And, hell, some of the arrangements on the last US tour Kylie did... that version of Speakerphone was killer. The stripped down version of I Believe In You was gorgeous... And the jazzy rendition of Locomotion was a lot of fun.

Different strokes, I guess. I thought that jazzy version of "Slow" sounded absolutely ridiculous. This is Kylie playing dress up; this time as lounge singer. I love her, but she doesn't have the chops for that. I've been a Kylie fan since I was a 9 yr old kid i in the UK and one of the pleasures of Kylie is that she's recognized her limits and worked within them. I feel like she's trying to prepare for her post-electro/dance career. She's basically taking one of her strongest electro songs and turning it into elevator music. I guess this appeals to an older crowd, though, and let's face it, her audience is aging.

I'll take the giant metallic skull of the X Tour over this cheap gold spray painted chariot any day. A literal fucking chariot. This show needed to be a bit more abstract.

I like it when the songs get tweaked for a live version; that's what you could say of the Speakerphone. I agree with you; that US tour version was killer, but it still stayed faithful to the original song. It was still a driving electro number but now it had more muscle and "oomph". Slow sounds like it's been transformed into something you can hear on your way to the buffet at Caesar's Palace.

I figure you guys might appreciate this otherwise smalltown Dublin story.

Perpetually inoffensive morning television presenter Síle Seoige went to see Kylie Minogue, and was so impressed that immediately afterwards she tweeted this:

@sileseoige I may regret this tweet but I think I just came at the Kylie gig...seriously....that good.

Cue a media storm of typically hysterical proportions. But, beautifully, Seoige has declined to apologise for her comment or delete it.

She followed it up with:

No regrets. Tongue was firmly placed in cheek. Gig was fantastic. Up for work on this lovely morning....had no idea it would cause a stir ;)

And responded to a radio interview with:

"I have no problem with what I wrote, what can I say?"

Sile has made her name as one of the most straight-laced presenters in the country, regularly fronting family-friendly programmes including the St Patrick's Day Festival highlights and appearing as a guest judge on the All Ireland Talent Show.

But she showed off a raunchier side never seen before by the public during yesterday's bizarre scandal.

She went on to praise Kylie for her record-breaking show.

"It was a great show, as a woman I can go along with my friends and have a great time.

"You have a mix of people who are straight and who are gay, it doesn't matter. Everyone is catered for," she told Tom Dunne on Newstalk

My estimation of Sile Seoige has skyrocketed. Awesome.

Yeah I got a similar impression from some clips, but YT clips can't ever do it justice, can they? I think it's very "Kylie" to almost glide above all the madness around her. Like some ephemeral disco goddess. Or, in this case, a Greek one. Plus, the woman has stage presence and charm in spades. That sort of magic just can't be captured on video.

As skeptical as I remain about the Greek look of this tour, I doubt it's going to be lackluster at all.

I wonder if a lot of these weren't released due to the absolute fucking fiasco that was the fan pre-sale.

I'd be willing to bet a lot of people didn't manage to repurchase their tickets and they were ultimately released to the public.

long story short: the company handling pre-sales charged everyone (for the LA show ONLY) in GBP instead of USD. So buying four tickets... which was about $620 or so, hit people's accounts for roughly $1150. On top of that, their method of fixing this wasn't to refund the difference but to have people repurchase the tickets while they issued a refund (in my case, and I know I was on the later side of getting the tickets repurchased, the refund didn't hit my account until almost a week after the new charge showed up... meaning nearly $1800 had to be available on my account for me to have successfully repurchased the tickets... I would expect this to be problematic for most people).

This is before we factor in the odd way they did the ticket selection too... based off that I fucked up and should have had second row seats... oh well... still in a garden box...

So far I've only seen the DC show. Crowd was decent, place wasn't sold out but didn't feel empty. As one would expect, it was very gay (which led to some entertaining moments where I had to explain to guys hitting on me that I was straight). A bit more reserved than I expected. Like seriously it wasn't till Can't Get You Out of My Head that I really saw the entire place hopping. Didn't stop me from jumping up and down and singing along though. A lot of people dressed in costumes though, which was kind of fun.

I was right about one thing. The "rock" version of Can't Get You Out of My Head is awful and totally robs the song of its energy. This guitaring up of dance songs is one thing I hope Kylie doesn't continue to ape from Madge.

Other than that, I loved the show. I had no doubt that I'd love Kylie herself. Seen her before and the woman is amazing. I just love how she manages to be this crazy sex goddess stalking the stage while simultaneously exuding warmth and approachability. I think it's that kind of presence which has probably endeared her to so many people. That wonderful balance of hard and soft was on full display and, is it just me or was Kylie really on her game? She had so much energy, sounded great (best vocals I've heard of her) and even danced a whole lot more than I've seen her do before.

The whole Greek motif is, yeah, still a bit cheesy but even that looks better in person. And, naturally, her band is very good and her dancers are just insanely talented and ridiculously beautiful; no surprises there.

I have to admit... Can't Get You Out of My Head is one of my least favorite songs by her... so I wasn't likely to be absolutely in love with that regardless.

Easily my three favorite arrangements from this tour have been Slow, Confide In Me and the Love At First Sight/Can't Beat The Feeling mash up. Other than that... What Do I Have To Do, Get Outta My way (easily my favorite song on the new record), On A Night Like This and... well.. most everything else made me crazy happy.

Not that this isn't the way every tour, but her outfits are amazing... My favorite had to be the black outfit with the big feathery dress and the tophat!

I wasn't thrilled that she did Locomotion for the "fan request" portion of the night (though I was absolutely THRILLED that she did "Your Disco Needs You" last night in San Francisco, and she did Come Into My World in DC which also made me happy) but I was able to get over that once she played Better Than Today, which I've been in love with since she played it at the show last tour. (have a video of the entire song that's pretty good quality from that show... and watched/listened to it a lot after the show... glad I did too since she omitted it from the live disc from that tour).

Oh and I kind of want to do dirty things to one of her backup singers... but that's another subject altogether.

strange about kaskade - i didnt know he was that big - and horrid that no gays were around to dance with

god I hate Kaskade... was really displeased when they announced he was opening.

No gays around you? We were seriously surrounded by absolutely nothing but gay men. We had fun pointing out the odd straight boy who'd been dragged there by his gf.

I was the only straight guy who dragged his girlfriend there. The entire show she kept asking me: "Are you sure you're not gay?"

Welcome to my world!

Not that I was dragging a girlfriend, since I'm not dating anyone currently...

Before the show (keeping in mind I went to three shows, and was the person who coordinated all the presale stuff for all my friends) a couple guys who met us to pre-game were like "wait? You're straight? How do you know?"

At the end of the conversation (during which someone brought up my obsessions with Robyn and the Pet Shop Boys and Sophie) it was boiled all down to "I like fabulous music; I don't like dick")

Ha!

A lot of fun. They definitely were jumping up and down the most of all three. Although it felt like there weren't as many people there as were at the Bowl on Friday, but that may also just be due to the fact that it was general admission (since more people would occupy less space without seats and all that jazz). I was a little worried that I would have issues finding a good spot while having room to dance (I'm typically "that guy" who's jumping up and down and sweating his ass off dancing at shows) but had no issues there. A lot more people with signs, but about an equal number of people in costumes as there were in LA.

I was also worried cause a lot of people had negative things to say about the venue, and while it didn't have the character of the Bowl, it's certainly better than the Patriot Center was (venue for the DC show, which is basically just a college gymnasium)

Yes, I tried explaining to her that gay men just have impeccable taste in music, and so do I. And I really can't stand most pop music, but I adore Kylie's music.

Seriously, thank you so much to those fans who had the huge sign for Come Into My World at the Vegas show. If they didn't do that it would have been the ONLY song I would have felt bad about not hearing. WOW that show was amazing! Absolutely perfect! Well worth the 20 year wait to see her :-)

BTW I am not gay either but I brought my aunt to the show, so of course everyone thought I was gay also haha

Yeah, well, be careful how you title such a group, guys. I think "Straight Guys for Kylie" will probably attract a good number of... supporters.

Man, that was such a fun night. My friend and I were just chatting about it and wishing she'd played more than one night. NYers were so lucky with three damn shows!

I mean, it was tongue in cheek for sure... my thought there was just that it seems her audience is much broader pretty much every where outside the states...

SEE KYLIE IN 3D IN CINEMAS ACROSS THE UK ON SUNDAY 19TH JUNE!
Aphrodite-Les Folies filmed live at London’s O2 Arena, is coming to a cinema near you soon! Dates for 3D screenings throughout the world to be announced in the coming days. (from Kylie.com)

Oh, man, LA better be on on that "screenings throughout the world" list. If we can get simulcasts from the Met Oprea and the National Theatre at the downtown Independent, we can get Kylie in 3D.

won't happen...

The next tour she's talking about doing is the "anti-tour" which will be nothing but small venues where she's doing only b-sides and album tracks with no singles... Not 100% sure if it's going to happen at all in the states, and if it does.. it'll probably only be like New York and LA...

I was just having a discussion with a friend about this as we were discussing an interview with her... Beyond having an amazing voice (both live and in studio), working with great producers (we'll forgiver her the whole Ingrosso thing for sake of this argument) and a survivor... she's just generally so well natured... the type of pop star you could actually feel good about having younger people look up to... And instead of having her fully embraced in the states... we get crap like Katy Perry dominating the charts...

I'm sadly starting to think that she'll never be at Coachella. Last year was our best bet, and she wasn't booked. :(

And OMG at that fountain performance. Could. She. Be. More. Gay?

And I say this in a completely positive way. :pulse

Really? This sounds like a terrible idea. I love this little Aussie but the idea of her doing some sort of "intimate/acoustic/for the fans/low-key" tour is so unappealing. I'll take my Kylie concerts spectacular and way over-the-top, please. She doesn't really have the right kind of presence or gravitas for those types of gigs. Part of her charm is that she knows her limitations and does wonders working within them. Also, you'd think she's not getting any younger. You'd think she'd want to keep playing arena tours for as long as she could.

i just watched the blu-ray and holy shit did the US get screwed. The production for their show was 10x that of ours. also, i watched the behind the scenes leading up to the tour and it's pretty amazing to see how they did all of that. i can't imagine transporting that set city to city.
