i've been exploring aussie/NZ music a lot recently and i think this group would be fun to watch.

very danceable and melodic, offering simple drum patterns & synths, but (and this is important) without attracting a significant douche contingent. their lyrics are also more thoughtful than most dance/pop bands i'm aware of.

here is dekade's remix of their song 'young blood'

K1JhRCf47TQ

here's another single

SRgAOUAedz4

and another for good measure

WbFfM3HZC_g

don't know if they've got enough of a following for next year, but i'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Just listening to this band for the first time. Fucking love it.

Weird, Dreamy, Industrial, Pretty, Spacey, Glam, Pop... Yeah, it's true. Only way to explain it.

seen them live and worked with them a handful of times, they're such nice people, i'll find out if they are booked or not, the lead girl is good friends with one of my friends.

They're signed to the Windish Agency for bookings in the US so have a good possibility of happening at Coachella...

When I saw Emmy the Great in New York at Pianos (tiny, tiny room less than half the size of the Echo, $8 admission), they got added to the lineup at the last minute and were scheduled to play at midnight, but I had Gang Gang Dance in Brooklyn that night, so I didn't stick around. I was at this show as well. I got a copy of the setlist from their soundguy. I will get it uploaded in a bit, for posterity. It was a great show. I hadn't heard much of their stuff beforehand, but I trust the taste of the Cosmo bookers and I had heard good things. The Sun is probably my favorite track. I really regret that I was up on the second level enjoying the view and not the better sound that came with being downstairs until after that one. Missed the Constellations and some other people I wanted to see because of bad timing, but there is some good stuff coming up in September (Joy Formidable for sure) that I'd like to check out . And hopefully they will announce some Oct. stuff soon. It usually runs about a month behind (Sept. came out around Aug. 1st).

GV must hate this band or something

I'd like to see them, but I don't see the point of seeing a band with one album at a venue like Terminal 5 or the Wiltern.

You're right, but let's face it that happens a lot now...

Last year was such a perfect fucking opportunity to make them a late add. They were IN California during the festival for Christ's sake. Back then I wasn't completely sick of their album either so I still would have loved to see their set.

If they come out with a second album. Probably not going to happen with them performing the same material that they have been for over a year.

Meh. I like them, but their absence is not what I'd call a deal breaker.

So either...

A. They couldn't swing the two weekend deal, as in it logistically wouldn't work out for them thus being one of the first known casualties of the new format or...

B. They hate us.

Really disappointed that they won't be there this year. Thought they would be a lock with all the hype, but your post shows they won't. :nono

So saw them at the Observatory in OC, a venue they added before Wiltern. It was crowded with kids as Young Blood is getting alot of local play on KROQ. Naked and Famous were energetic, fun and clearly excited to be playing to crowded venue but didn't have alot of material yet and played their whole album plus a few others, including a pretty good Neworder-ish type song not on the album, Bells. First 2 songs were strong and same as on the album, with Girls as closer and Young Blood as encore. Some of the other songs fell a bit flat or seemed disjointed. I'd love to see them next year but could understand if GV waits until they have a 2nd album and a bit more experience.
