We'd need hundreds or thousands of lists for there to be any sense to them. The lists we have so far? I see only one song on multiple lists. That'd be a problem and it wouldn't be made significantly better by carrying it out to 25.

From Last.fm:

1 The National – All the Wine

3 The National – Daughters of the Soho Riots

That's not right though. I like "Mr. November" more than either of those songs from The National.

I hate listening to songs more than once in a row. I mean, I really hate it. I had girlfriends in high school that would play songs 8 times in a row. When the songs was done, they'd go immediately back to it. I always would say something along the lines, "You do realize there other songs on the album, right? Good songs, too."

There are songs that I will occasionally repeat, but I agree with you in principle (which I'm not supposed to have as a post modernist. ah fuck).

Other songs I have listened to a lot and have never diminished in quality:

"Desolation Row" - Bob Dylan
"Learning the Game" - Buddy Holly
"Gemini" - Why?

Big surprise.

When the songs was done, they'd go immediately back to it. I always would say something along the lines, "You do realize there other songs on the album, right? Good songs, too."

I do that, but only in private, either on my headphones or if I'm alone in my car. Usually at any given time there's some song I am head over heels in love with and want to listen to over and over until I get sick of it after a few days or weeks and then I've ruined it for a while. I'm stupid like that.
