The longer I looked at that the more the colors blurred. I really had no idea how to move the pieces around to make them better. The tiles that were darker or lighter than average were the worst; they never seemed to fit.

I didn't/don't think 84 is all that bad. I guess we'll see.

i felt satisfaction on getting them in the right order... a "calm" even... although tnow, 10 minutes later, my eyes are hurting a little.

I did it quickly - the first one took about 30 seconds and the last about 10. It's matter of a broad sorting to one side to the other. then fine tuning it.

And I guess it's worth noting that I like tests.

Are you colorblind? Your brown, yellow (and some green) spectrum are out of order. My brother is so-called red-green colorblind, and it seems like it's mostly murky brownish or yellowish colors he has problems with (like a red that has brown or yellow tones, or a green of the same type). They look brownish-yellowish he says. True reds and greens are not a problem.

I have not heretofore recognized/been diagnosed with any sort of colorblindness. I have been given colorblindness tests before in general settings and done fine (as far as I know.)

But as this test - and my pants issue* - certainly suggest that I am, to some extent. I can see colors... but quite likely not as vividly or precisely as most people.

* Yeah, the pants I'd have troubles with were warm greens similar to what you're discussing. Or, rather, that's what my co-workers would say. In reality (my reality) they're brownish yellow or tan or something. And my spectra are not out of order; that's why I posted them so y'all could say "those look perfect, this test must just be assigning random scores" but y'all'ren't holding up your end of the bargain.

Most stoplights aren't unworkable even for the completely colorblind that can't distinguish those rather distinct colors because red is on top, amber is in the middle and green is on bottom.

A few states/cities/intersections, however, have horizontal stoplights which're just befuddling.

I was gonna ask about your preferred method of winging it. I figured you either see a brighter light and know the pecking order, opr you just wait to see what the guy in the lane next to you does.
If it makes you feel better, I would become befuddled also at a horizontal light...

mountmccabe
08-11-2010, 11:14 PM
That does not make me feel better.

And I am not colorblind. Or, at least not severely/significantly colorblind. I have no problems with stoplights, etc.

This description from the wikipedia article on Color blindness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorblindness) has this description which might cover where I am:

Deuteranomaly (most common - 6% of males, 0.4% of females): Having a mutated form of the medium-wavelength (green) pigment. The medium-wavelength pigment is shifted towards the red end of the spectrum resulting in a reduction in sensitivity to the green area of the spectrum. Unlike protanomaly the intensity of colors is unchanged. This is the most common form of color blindness, making up about 6% of the male population. The deuteranomalous person is considered "green weak". For example, in the evening, dark green cars appear to be black to Deuteranomalous people. Similar to the protanomates, deuteranomates are poor at discriminating small differences in hues in the red, orange, yellow, green region of the spectrum. They make errors in the naming of hues in this region because the hues appear somewhat shifted towards red. One very important difference between deuteranomalous individuals and protanomalous individuals is deuteranomalous individuals do not have the loss of "brightness" problem.

Though, again, I might consider myself to have a mild form of this, one of the mildest forms of color blindness.

Yea, my brother does not usually have problems with stop lights either. The colors in stop lights are usually primary colors rather than hues of. There is one state (KY? TN?) in the northern end of the south that uses really weird colors, that apparently trip up people until they remember the top/middle/bottom order. There are also apparently some tests being done (in Canada, I think) of using different shapes as well as colors on the lights, so that if it were standardized, it would not depend completely on color perception.

The text is in Chinese but you get a level/rating at the end. I am only paying attention to the first number (e.g. lv17) not the second number.

It's always going to give you two numbers. The first number is your level. The auto-translation isn't good enough for me to tell what the second number is supposed to be, but it's always been one less than your level.

After that pop up goes away it shows just your level, both a number and a name in Chinese (Blind, Wolf, Satyr, etc.)
