Why can't I ever find the website that sells the tickets for Vitalic? Someone sent me a link a few months ago to go to the show at mezzanine.... Help? I need more Vitalic. And yes, Geno, This is a total drain of funds month, but hot damn it will be money well spent :)

October 31 (Sunday): Eviction Notice
:)

No kidding.

Thanks for posting the list, Dorkfish. It reminds us all, how lucky we have it for live music in this town.

I already have tickets to the Lips on the 1st, Of Montreal, and Gorillaz. Contemplating going to see Caribou again but that's the first time I saw that Talvin Singh's deal, so that might take precedent. And I'm missing Treasure Island for a buddies wedding in Florida, which happens to be at Treasure Island in St. Pete. Which sucks, I feel like I'm never gonna see LCD live due to conflicts everytime they are playing around me. But What can you fucking Do?

Tickets aren't on sale for Vitalic yet, sbconnection. And I'm also expecting a venue change for that show...same thing happened last time he came.

PS the best thing about this list is that it doesn't even have the Treasure Island night shows on it yet :) More to come!

So isn't the Love Parade also the first weekend of October - October 2nd? Thats pretty crazy to have both the HSB and Love Parade going on at the same time. Hippies and Tweakers coexist in the Bay Area. :thu

Has to be opening for someone otherwise that's a terrible booking.

At least some cool electronic act might be playing Warfield on Oct 1st.

edit: nope, that's really the booking. Idiots. Have fun selling out a $35 + fees show with a Mezzanine act.

Yikes! $45 before fees is a little pricey. I was going to buy extra tickets just in case some buddies wanted to come into town for the show and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, but thats not happening with $45 tickets. But it will be worth it!

Has to be opening for someone otherwise that's a terrible booking.

At least some cool electronic act might be playing Warfield on Oct 1st.

edit: nope, that's really the booking. Idiots. Have fun selling out a $35 + fees show with a Mezzanine act.

The Mezzanine show sold out in less than a week and he is HUGE in SF. The fact that they only have $50 tickets left isnt that much of a shock to me

RE: SF LovEvolution whatever I still call it Love Parade and everyone knows what it is.

I know we know about the Infected Mushroom Live+DJ set show but did we know

2010 Event Update
Hello Lovers,

Hope you've been having a good summer. We're sorry we haven't been in more frequent communication. If you've been following the news you know it's been a difficult summer for dance music events worldwide, and this has effected us. We've wanted to let you know what's going on but it's kept changing so this is the reason for the delay. We have worked for months with city authorities on a plan that would allow us to continue at Civic Center, but in the end, it was concluded that our Civic Center festival site was not large enough to safely host an event of such huge popularity.

We've been working on an alternative site and continue to do so. We hope to make an announcement next week.

We DO know that regardless of how things turn out with our day event, we will celebrate Love Week as we always have - with a series of top notch affiliated events from Wednesday to Sunday, showcasing a range of talent in the clubs and other venues. So if you've made plans to come to San Francisco know that there is still plenty of fun to be had.

We're pleased to let you know about an awesome show that LovEvolution Live, Goldenvoice and Tantra are producing at the Warfield featuring Infected Mushroom (performing live and also doing a rare classical mushroom DJ set), as well as the legendary Shpongle and Hallucinogen Live. This event is sure to sell out so we highly recommend a pre-sale. (There is no event at Bill Graham Auditorium this year)

More info on the Love Week page.

We'll also be announcing a host of great Love Week events produced by our amazing float production partners, who continue to be a crucial part of the plan for this year.

Stay tuned for more info coming up soon. Thanks for your support and know we are as dedicated as ever to bringing the love.

Please pass it on.

Talk soon

Well that is a bummer. I always loved the setting of dancing and partying in Civic Center Plaza next to city hall and the other buildings. My next thought is, if not there, where? Golden Gate park? but isnt HSBG there that same weekend?

I am curious about the new location. not confident in this at all though.

More Love Parade stuff?

Skills and Spundae will be postponing the 2010 Lovevolution After Party until next year. The Bill Graham Civic auditorium will be closed during the weekend of the parade. We have searched for a San Francisco venue that would be convenient for all parade goers. Unfortunately, there is nothing available that is suitable for the event of that scale we wished to offer. Thanks for the continued support and we look forward to bring the love back for 2011. Skills and Spundae will be hosting SEQUENCE at 525 Howard

Civic Center love may be lost for popular event

Adding some color: The Lovevolution dance-music festival attracts an array of colorful personalities, and it has been held in the middle of The City for years. (AP file photo)

SAN FRANCISCO — The annual Lovevolution dance-music festival that draws about 90,000 people to San Francisco could be forced to cancel the event due to safety concerns.

The seventh annual Lovevolution, described as a dance-music parade and festival, was to occur in the Civic Center Plaza, the event location for the previous six years. But, that location is now off-limits as concerns about public safety reached new heights with the growing popularity of the festival, a rash of violence associated with San Francisco entertainment events this summer, and a similar event in Germany last month resulting in 21 deaths and 500 injuries.

Organizers remain in talks with city officials in hopes of coming to an agreement on an alternative site in time for the Oct. 2 event. The event fills hotel rooms and brings business to local restaurants, and there are numerous affiliated after-parties with well-known DJs at entertainment venues throughout The City.

Lovevolution event manager John Wood said the organizers thought the Civic Center location was manageable with some changes, such as less promotion and an entry of more than the $10 charged last year. After last month’s incident in Germany, however, they agreed to seek an alternative site.

Now, organizers want The City to allow the event to occur in the parking lot of Candlestick Park, according to Wood. In subsequent years, they hope to find a more suitable location, such as Golden Gate Park.

Supporters of the event are displeased by the decision.

“It’s a great sadness that the Lovevolution has decided it can’t be in the Civic Center,” Barry Taranto, a former taxicab driver, said at an Entertainment Commission meeting Tuesday. “Why can’t we just extend the boundaries? I cannot think of a better place. It’s not going to have problems like Germany.”

In past years, there was a parade along Market Street that ended in the Civic Center area, where techno music and dancing continued throughout the day. If The City approves the alternative sight at Candlestick, there would be no parade, Wood said.

The Mayor’s Office said it wants to be supportive of the event, but needs to balance the safety needs of attendees.

“We can’t be too careful,” Newsom spokesman Tony Winnicker said. “We have that responsibility.”

Candlestick? Good luck with that.

I wish they'd just have the parade, with venues doing their own thing (relatedly) at night. Never got into the civic center part of this.

LovEvolution canceled due to dispute on location

This year’s annual LovEvolution parade and dance party that attracts 90,000 attendees to San Francisco has been canceled due to a dispute with The City over its location. (www.sflovevolution.org/)

This year’s annual LovEvolution parade and dance party in San Francisco that attracts 90,000 attendees has been canceled.

The cancellation of the Oct. 2 event comes after LovEvolution organizers could not come to an agreement with The City about where to hold the parade and dance party. Citing public safety concerns, city officials refused to allow the event to be held at the Civic Center, as it has been for the past six years.

Public safety concerns for the event were heightened following a rash of violence associated with San Francisco entertainment events this summer, and a similar July event in Germany resulting in 21 deaths and 500 injuries.

“We’re not having the event this year,” Lovevolution event manager John Wood told the San Francisco Examiner on Tuesday afternoon.

Event organizers and the Mayor’s Office holding the event instead at the parking lot of Candlestick Park. But they were told they had to go through the process of securing approval from the Recreation and Park Commission. In the end, on Monday, organizers decided to cancel the event.

“There was not enough time,” Wood said. “Of course we’re frustrated.”

Wood said that the concern was understandable given the summer incidents, but they still thought they could put on an event that wouldn’t be marred by violence.

“We felt we could do a safe event,” Wood said. “Others thought it was too risky.”

Newsom spokesman Tony Winnicker said, “Major events are part of what makes San Francisco a great city and we want to continue to be supportive. Hopefully, their decision to postpone the event to sometime next year will give the organizers more time to work with The City to ensure public safety and develop a responsible event plan.”

Organizers are now working on securing a location to bring LovEvolution back to San Francisco in 2011. They want to use Golden Gate Park’s Polo Fields.

If they do not obtain approval for this location, they may hold the event in another city like Oakland, in areas such as downtown or the Oakland Coliseum, according to Wood.

Wood is optimistic about next year. The hiatus is an opportunity to “come back bigger and better than ever, and that’s our intention,” he said.

I gotta call a fail on the city for not being more reasonable or whatever in working with these guys. Have there been many actual issues like deaths or mass injuries like they say they're afraid of? I havent heard of any coming from the SF event and to their credit they've run a successful event for several years now. I know its a lightning rod for controversy even amongst EDM fans, but Love Parade SF has a good clean "track record" dont they?

And also, Civic Center is out in the open where there aren't any tunnels to get stuck in like the Germany event. Only thing close to that is the BART/Muni station at Civic Center. Is that what they're really concerned about?

anyone's thoughts on the possibility of GG Park vs. Oakland in the future?

Uhm, "rash" of violence at SF events this summer? I'm struggling to think of more than one this summer, which was not even at an 'event' but a private party.

Oakland Coliseum would be terrible. This reads to me like: if they are going to be made to have proper security and crowd control, they'd rather just host a massive type event where they can restrict attendance by ticket (price).

This event always marks the feelings "coachella is half a year away" vibe. This sucks-I could care less about the after party at the warfield, lovefest was about being in the middle of city dancing your ass off. I understand both sides but in the end-shitty situation.
