Red Hot Chili Peppers

Smashing Pumpkins

Soundgarden

Stone Roses

Stone Temple Pilots

Tool

U2

Wu Tang Clan

Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica were both at their best in the 80s.
My Bloody Valentine, for the win.

meh I'd consider the Pixies more of an 80s band considering Surfer Rosa and Doolittle came out in the 80s.

Radiohead
Flaming Lips
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Beck
Bjork
Outkast
Pavement
Weezer
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Everything Metallica did in the 90's was crap.

My favorites out of the ones listed are AIC, Nirvana, PEARL JAM, Radiohead Soundgarden, STP and Tool. However I also

My vote goes to PJ

Other notables (most better than what the current options) include: Butthole Surfers, Blur, Massive Attack, Beck, MBV, Portishead, Primus and Garth Brooks

RATMan

Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica were both at their best in the 80s.

I agree, but some would argue that Use Your Illusion and the Black Album were their best works.

G N' R put out four studio albums.

Three of them came out in the 90's. Whether you consider them good or not is a different matter.

I'm kinda shocked by the lack of Nirvana love so far. I mean, even if you don't like them, you have to respect what an essential part of 90s music they were.

I actually agree with your assertion (and 5 is exactly the right number), and have said so at some length on the old board (where I said that Green was the most disappointing album of all time). But most don't see it that way, and people drooled over Automatic for the People and other 90s output more than the 80s stuff.

Yeah, I never got that.

I was a huge REM fan up until "Document", I guess I just didn't like their sound anymore after that.

I think the fact that they weren't "college" anymore also made them less attractive to me at the time (musical snobbery at its finest).

"Life's Rich Pageant" is one the great underrated albums of the 80's, though.

Pearl Jam. Radiohead. Smashing Pumpkins, in that order. They pretty much defined the 90s for me. None of those are voteable choices so I'll have to think about it.

I was going to disparage Nirvana for the lack of output but that's not a reason to go on and vote for NIN instead. So I dunno.

This poll is retarded.
Half of those bands don't belong on that list.
You have 10 choices and you fill it with the fucking Foo Fighters? Metallica? Beastie Boys?

Metallica and the Beastie Boys put out some of their best work in the 80s.
Actually Metallica put out all of their best work in the 80s.
The Black album, Load and Reload are just atrocious.
Guns N Roses put out Use Your Illusions in what...91?
Thats barely the 90s and it came out together. Spaghetti Incident is disgusting, so let's not count that as a 'studio' album.
Lies and Appetite came out in the 80s.

Smashing Pumpkins definitely deserve to be on this list.
Weezer should be on this list.
Wu Tang Clan should be on this list.
Fugazi should be on this list but they may have started in the late 80s??

Besides. anyone with half a brain knows the Gin Blossoms are the best band to come out of the 90s. Duh.

my .01 cent.

Radiohead was killing it during the 90's.. releasing

PabloHoney 1993
The Bends 1995
OK Computer 1997

also Dave Matthews Bands should get a nod for releasing these great albums also their live shows were exceptionally good:

Remember Two Things 1993
Under The Table and Dreaming 1994
Crash 1996
Before These Crowded Streets 1998

if I could go back in time and see only one concert during the 90's, it would be U2 during their Zooroopa tour.. Nirvana=meh..
