I didn't breast feed, yes, I am a horrible mother, but I figured my kids would starve if I tried. But I remember when my kids got their front teeth and the damage they did to the nipples on their bottles, I don't remember what age that was since it's been 17 +/- years, that was enough to make me glad I was such a horrible mother.

and d/dx is not division. it's a derivative.

TomAz
05-10-2012, 12:46 PM
It's a (lower case) delta, which is used in partial derivatives (as opposed to a plain old d/dx used in calculus 101 derivatives).

d/dx sin (ax+b) = a cos (ax+b) [I had to look that up, I didn't remember it and didn't feel like trying to derive it]

at x=0, this become a cos b.

cos (-pi/2) is zero.

so the whole thing is zero.

I didn't like being confined. I would get so anxious and for absolutely no reason would get these overwhelming urges to just stand up and leave.

I also had a hard time with the seeming desexualizing of my breasts and of me. I did enjoy that when my boobs would get filled up they looked soooooo huge, but my husband and I couldn't enjoy them because they would fucking hurt soooooo bad. And that pump . . . OMG, pumping just totally sucked.

I breastfed the twins until they were 16 mos, and my youngest until she was 14 mos. Yeah, at that point it is just a comfort thing to get them to go to sleep at night, and the decision to stop is fairly easy, especially if you want your old body back. I enjoyed breastfeeding. The idea of the extra work involved in bottle feeding (making formula, sterilizing bottles, etc.) was a no-go for me; I had enough work to do already.

Breastfeeding until the kid is a toddler or beyond(!) is mighty strange and uncomfortable to me, but I've known a few who've done it. *shrugs*

HowToDisappear
05-10-2012, 03:12 PM
algunz, the feeling of being trapped or confined when you have a newborn/young infant is normal, whether you breastfeed or not. In the beginnning, breastfeeding the twins, I didn't even feel human at times, more like a perpetual milk machine. It can be very disheartening. It takes a lot of perseverance to get through that. And you know, things get better, smoother, easier, as they get older and fall into a routine. Those early days are always the roughest. I think it helps to have someone in your life who can offer pointers, too. My mom was a huge help.

Oh lawd...

my 6 year old daughter is not special needs and sings that song everywhere, let her school try and pull some of that bullshit.

they are already on thin ice after sending my daughter home because she had something in her eye. the dumbfuck "health aide" who is probably some mom with too much time on her hands, made the determination that it was medically necessary to see a doctor and get a form signed before they would allow her back to school, which caused her to miss her favorite part of the week, drum class after school. that day involved me spending 2 hours waiting to see the doc and ~$150 in costs. there was no discharge or anything else to cause any worry. i am thinking about sending them the bill and telling them next time to have the nurse or someone who is fucking trained handle it.

I keep reading all these articles about the cost of obesity, not just to the overall insurance, but to other industries as well.
http://vitals.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/10/11621199-too-fat-for-anesthesia-suction-cups-hold-up-patients-guts-during-surgery?lite

Medicine is struggling to make accommodations. Doctors often check blood pressure using cuffs meant for thighs, Razavi said. Surgical tools have to be enlarged in order to reach through layers of fat. Obese patients require higher doses of radiation during imaging tests like CT scans. “And that means if I’m doing the procedure, I am getting higher doses of radiation, too,” Razavi pointed out.

Some patients won’t fit into MRI scanners. Surgical tables have been redesigned to handle patients weighing up to 450 pounds. Needles for injections have made been longer so they can penetrate fat layers and reach muscles. Even lab tests results have to be interpreted differently.

It just reminds me of when I worked for an ambulance company. We bought a USED bariatric truck with a bariatric stretcher for around $250K. The stretcher was made to hold the 300+ lb patients. Unfortunately, it was constantly being taken out of service because morbidly obese pts would break it. A lot of resources and money was being spent on fixing it. Not to mention all the money spent on workers' comp claims.

sure can, wouldn't allow her back without the form signed, no matter how much we fought it. was tempted to just have our neighbor who is a vet fill it out.

i was pretty shocked when they said it was the health aide who made the determination, that the nurse was not in that day. one of the office staff at the school is pretty cunty(and i only reserve that word for the worst of the worst, which she is), so decided not to make too many waves since we have about 8 years to go at the school.

Really? I think it's a great idea, he can borrow my car to hang out with his friends as long as he agrees to stay sober and come get me at the bar when I am ready to leave. That way I get to worry less about him drinking and driving and he can make a little cash on the side. Spent the whole day and night in the hospital with my mom. She's very ill and my sister and I had to discuss what to do if she declines further.
This really was a tough day.

Who do we decide to hate for not being able to marry your gay cousin in Iowa? We're not gonna just let that one go, are we?

I bought something today. And not even happy about it at the moment, hopefully it sinks in soon and brightens up my day.

O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke.
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from heaven's yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke -- banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

To those of you who have gotten a passport, does it require you knowing your ex wive's or husband's information? Fortunately, I've never been married, but that doesn't seem right at all. My paranoid self wants to say he's taking out a loan with your name on it.

In Wisconsin, defamation of character is not considered a crime. In fact, other than Jeff Dahmer's murders. the only other crimes are DUIs. Our local police do not think that she is a criminal even though she is a Walgreens employee who stole Walgreens medications from a Walgreens customer, me. When I asked why she shouldn't be arrested, the friendly policemen who escorted her back to MY condo, said it is not a crime since THEY returned MY medication. She was allowed 2 minutes in MY condo to get HER money and a couple changes of clothes. Should I report this criminal to HER HR dept?

While checking into a hotel in rural Utah this evening, the nice young Indian boy behind the desk said what sounded like "I'll hook you up with a sweet room." When I walked upstairs I laughed pretty loud when I found out it was an actual suite.

Damn. It'd be the apocalypse if we (America) lost our power. It's sad. ANYHOW....Conor Oberst and Jenny Lewis in Pomona. Exciting. Hopefully the power does not go out for that.
