are there any repercussions for the pimp who lied? he should do 17 years for taking this guys life away for that time.

why is so much faith put into eyewitness accounts? i remember some stuff from psych class years ago where a demonstration was done with a man running into the room, grabbing the teachers purse, and running out. 5 different people had 5 different descriptions. One said he was of an entirely different race.

Health
People born on September 7 worry more about their health (http://health.howstuffworks.com/) than is warranted. They often convince themselves that "something must be wrong" and search for miracle cure-alls. They waver between holistic and conventional methods. They need to manage stress and alleviate anxiety.

Career and Finances
For much of their lives, September 7 individuals may be undecided on a career. This can lead to experiments with different jobs and professions. With finances, they can seem clueless because they have a hard time coming to grips with the finality of their decisions.

it's all true. the rest I dunno so much, but these, yes.

Believe me, that guy deserves much more than the court could ever give him. He killed his pregnant wife in the 80s, he pimped out his daughters, he's been charged for pimping children lots of times.

He also sold the cops up the river, and is a known snitch living in South Central. If he weren't super old, he'd probably not have long left.

Just had my weekly one-on-one meeting with my manager. I end with “Anything Else”?

“Yes, in fact”…she hands me a 3 page email from security with a list of all of the Coachella Forum links that I’ve clicked on over a certain period of time. All she had to do was acknowledge we talked about it. I explained what it was and she sounded OK with it and explained it was just a formality more than anything else, but I her recommendation was “I would just recommend you don’t go there anymore, from work at least”.

She's Irish born, she seems to have taken on dual citizenship relatively recently, I'm not sure of the circumstances. She's ultra, ultra Catholic and anti-Europe, and already a bit of a laughing stock even among the particularly laughable crop of lunatics running for office this year, because she's this woman:

- except now she's older and completely fucking insane (http://breakingnews.ie/ireland/dana-future-in-presidential-campaign-in-doubt-524131.html). Also, her campaign manager brother is apparently a paedophile.

But she's basically running against the cast of the film Clue, so none of that has yet completely discounted her.

A studio has bought the rights to do a movie on the story of Alan Turing, father of modern computing / computer science as well as one of the first to study Fibonacci sequence patterns in plants. British. Leonardo DiCaprio is probably going to play him. This would seem great for nerds everywhere but there's a problem with his story and how it will interact with Hollywood. He was gay and barred from working / forced to take hormone injections to "cure his gay" as being gay was a crime in England at the time. He killed himself in a rather Hollywood-esque way, essentially lacing an apple with arsenic because Snow White was his favorite fairy tale. He did this just two years after he was sentenced to this hormone treatment. This isn't to sound insensitive to the social issues that plagued his life, but I can already tell they're going to make so much of this about shit that isn't 100% true for the sake of drama. If it was a movie legitimately focusing on everything he accomplished it would still make for an incredible work of art on screen, but I can already tell they're going to royally fuck this up. If they prove me wrong it will be a very good day for cinema and geeks but if they don't it will be a fucking tragedy and honestly a dishonor to Turing.

MissingPerson

I'd like to see his story told on screen, because he was an extraordinary man with an extraordinary mind, and what was done to him was profoundly upsetting and worth holding up for the world to see.

But yeah, I don't like the sound of that casting at all. I don't mean that as a cheap criticism of Leo, 'cause he's actually an alright actor, but he's not at all right for that. I just can't imagine they're going to be able to resist the temptation to romanticise his awful, miserable, unnecessary end.

I'm pretty sure I broke or sprained or did something bad to the big toe on my left foot while drunk the other night because I'm super classy and coordinated. It hurts way too much to put any sort of weight on it, so I have now resorted to this weird hop/hobble of a walk which involves springing off from my heel instead of the ball of the foot.

Also, I forgot to put sunscreen on a bit of my upper thigh at the beach yesterday, so I have a patch of bright pink skin that now gets rubbed against the crease of my slacks every time I sit down or stand up. My poor body.

On the bright side, I am fully caffeinated and ready to take on the week. After another cup or two, I probably won't even be able to feel pain anyway because I'll be so hopped up.

Slacks? Maybe the reason they're so rubby is that you're wearing pants from the industrial dawn of the textile sciences. Nice wingtips, though, and those spats are fly.

http://www.artisanalpencilsharpening.com/index.html

Dude has a point, even if he's built something ridiculous out of it. Sharpening a pencil with a razor blade is a pleasant experience not only in a tactile sense but in olfactory and auditory senses as well. Then you get the first crisp and satisfying moment of touching the sharpened tip to a fresh piece of paper with just the right amount of friction resistance and perfect not-too-smooth, not-too-rough paper tooth. Anything's possible on that paper at this point. You've yet to soil it with another amateurish representation of whatever your lousy craft may be.

The Haka is absolutely awesome and every team in everything should have to do it. The Rugby powers-that-be have gotten all precious about it because it's become a kind of promotional gimmick for the All Black sponsors, which is a real shame. They take it really seriously, so now one team has to stand at a certain distance watching the other.

Back in the day, the other team was allowed challenge it however they liked, so you could have two tribal teams doing it at the same time and it was amazing, it cranked the atmosphere up to a million.

Really?! My high school football team was at least 50% Tongans, so I find it really amusing that this would be cause for pepper spray.

For some reason, Euless is full of Tongans. Not sure why. But Trinity had a lot of Tongans, and a good majority of them played football. A Tongan guy in choir with me said that he got made fun of when he went home because he was small. He was built like what you would imagine a normal high school quarterback would be.

Utah is full of polynesians. I am not making this up. Mormon missionaries actually converted thousands of Tongans and Samoans and Hawaiians (http://motherjones.com/politics/1994/01/saving-samoans). Some of them move to Utah and Arizona and Idaho. Look at the number of polynesians on the BYU football roster (http://byucougars.com/roster/m-football).

by: Dyan Cannon

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2046708/Cary-Grant-force-fed-LSD-nearly-killing-says-Dyan-Cannon.html

I was equally unsettled by his enthusiasm for taking LSD, the mind-bending drug to which he had been introduced by his third wife, actress Betsy Drake.

Cary claimed LSD offered a path to truth and enlightenment, and his tactics to persuade me to try it were rather underhand.
On a trip to London in 1963, we had an unexpected visitor. Cary had apparently decided that the time was right for my first ‘cosmic exploration’ and I came into the sitting room of our rented house to find that his acid guru, Dr Mortimer Hartman, had been flown over from LA to guide me through it.
‘It’s like leaping off the high dive,’ Cary told me when I complained about being ambushed in this way. ‘If you take too much time to think about it, you’ll back out.’

We hung out and watched Jay-Z with them and met up again with them this year to say hi. We are friends on facebook and they posted a message with a link to vote for them to win a wedding. They included the story of how they met which is what compelled me to encourage more voting. So if you can spare the time, read their story and vote for Jazmin and Nick. The question

Is it really so wrong to scrape guests’ finished plates at the table while clearing them away?

The answer

It’s not wrong the way, oh, say, blood diamonds or the Taliban or Nickelback are wrong, if that’s what you’re wondering, but I wouldn’t push it. What you’re asking, in essence, is whether it’s okay to repeatedly scrape a metal utensil across your guests’ dirty dinner plates just a foot or so from their faces once they’ve finished eating, then consolidate all their scraps and gristle (plus filthy, scrap-laden napkins and untouched freezer-aisle mini-quiches, which you should know by now nobody ever eats) into a big, greasy, communal pile in the middle of the table.

I love the Globe and Mail.

I recently bought a DVD of 70's and 80's PSA ads from this website:

www.80scommercials.com

I've been kind of fascinated with Ad Council/drunk driving/Partnership For A Drug-Free America commercials, several of them used to scare me when I was a kid growing up in the 80's. Watching them again, I can see why they were so frightening.

The DVD isn't edited very well - it's just nonstop one ad after another, several of them have static in them due to age, some of them cut off before they completely finish. Sometimes the audio and video don't sync up exactly. Several of them are amusing, with celebrities (Brooke Shields! Telly Savalas! O.J.!). Still, it is interesting to watch, and there's a honeypot of anti-cocaine/crack PSAs in one stretch, which is pretty great.

Girls who crowdsurf on their front. Is it better to hold them up with the risk of touching something you shouldn't or just let them fall on their faces?

If you spit on your hands before groping them the DNA scanners won't work. True story.

The Price is Right had one of my dad's company's RVs on their show last Thursday. The game the contestant had to play was to pick whether the trailer's price was $7995 or $9775. Guessing the lower price, he lost the game. Upon departing, Drew Carey leaned over to him and said "don't worry, I didn't think that thing was worth 9 grand either."

I just walked five blocks with the back hem of my dress unintentionally pushed up to my waist because I didn't realize my purse was rubbing against my side and pushing it up. Awesome.

I assume the reason this is in here and not the bad mood thread is because you're kind of ok with it.

A stripper I picked up in my cab kind of half heartedly offered to fuck me last night to spite her boyfriend, who she has a love/hate relationship with. Instead we bonded over our love of Hispanic men. One of these days I'll start a thread about my taxi adventures. They were pretty dull for awhile but have been getting more interesting lately.

Gross... Even if I didn't think it was the most disgusting fast food on the planet, it still wouldn't qualify as the best mexican food. I don't even call it real mexican food. :puke

Sometimes I can't tell whether I like my (http://grlfrnds.bandcamp.com/) friends' (http://pinkmist.bandcamp.com/) bands (http://clonesofthequeen.bandcamp.com/) because they are my friends' bands, or because they are actually good. It's frustrating to lose all sense of perspective.

Ha, yes, that's true. I have friends' bands that I can acknowledge are pretty dreadful. But I also do think that I'm predisposed towards liking friends' bands, in general.

The beginning parts of a total lunar eclipse will be visible to people in the Western United States starting at 4:45 A.M. tomorrow. It is expected to be very orange - red, large and pretty. This will be the last one for three years. Enjoy it if you can.
