My foot's asleep, and I just touched it by mistake. It was freezing, and felt like some random dead foot. I am now poking and prodding it, and experiencing my foot completely objectively. This is what my foot feels like to a stranger.

This is fucking weird.

Associated Press - July 16, 2007 10:23 AM ET

TOKYO (AP) - There are reports from Japan that water containing radioactive material has leaked from a nuclear reactor following an earthquake that's killed at least seven people.

National broadcaster NHK, quoting the plant operators, says the water leaked from the plant into the sea of Japan. But the report says that the radioactivity level is low and poses no danger to the environment.

The quake has destroyed hundreds of homes, collapsed seaside bridges, and caused hundreds of people to be injured.

Police say six people died after being crushed when buildings collapsed on them. A seventh person died at a hospital where he had been taken with quake-related injuries.

Associated Press - July 16, 2007 10:50 AM ET

TOKYO (AP) - After the events of an earthquake resulted into radioactive material being leaked into the sea of Japan, it appears that scientists have noticed an increase in the level of radioactivity.

Earlier it was thought that the radioactive material was no danger to the environment, but now it seems that it is stacking up new problems to these horrible events. Reports say that the radioactive material has mutated a family of crawfish, making them as large as 6 stories high.

Police say that they are doing all they can to stop the mutant crawfish from attacking mainland Japan. Reports say, however, that they are greatly considering summoning Godzilla to once again, save Japan.

Question for the mod, dani, PF, whatever you call her .. hey PF, how would I go about and find out who was the promoter at a festival I just went too (the transgression fest) …. We always want to take a bunch of pics at a show, and they wouldn’t let us take our cameras in … I thought as usual it would be the “its alright as long as you cant take off the lens” … well the jerk ladies at the gate refused both days to let me in with my cameras …. I went to the site, and there is no way to email them about anything … so again the question is, in all of your great knowledge, who was the promoter or do you know how I can find out … this is just going to become a bigger and bigger problem because I saw a new camera on cnet, that is 8+ m pixels, hours of vid, and as small or smaller then the throw aways …. The line between cameras is getting more gray every month ….. Tnx cr****

Darrell Webb
Jo-Ann Stores, Inc.
5555 Darrow Road
Hudson, OH 44236-4054

Dear Mr. Webb,

On Friday, June 29th at approximately 2:15 pm I was shopping in the Jo-Ann Fabrics store in Logansport, Indiana. While shopping, I suddenly experienced unexpected and intense diarrhea. I approached an employee and asked her if I could use the rest room. She said she was not allowed to let me use it. I discreetly explained my situation to her and she said I would have to speak to the assistant manager..."

I approached the assistant manager, Carla Cogswell, and again requested to use the facilities. She said no and I told her I was experiencing severe diarrhea as we spoke. She again said no and quoted a recent policy change regarding the rest room facilities not being up to code and that they were not allowed to let customers use the rest room. I told her I understood but that this was an extreme emergency. I again told her I was experiencing diarrhea as we spoke and she again refused saying she could lose her job if she let me use the rest room and that there was nothing she could do.

At this point I was becoming extremely frustrated and feared that the diarrhea was going to run down my legs and drip onto the store floor. I was in tears, desperate for some assistance with my embarrassing and humiliating situation. I told Carla that I could not control what was happening and that the diarrhea was happening right now and that I was afraid it would run down my legs and onto the floor and that I was not going to be the one to clean it up if that occurred. I was put in a situation where I could no longer be discreet and was begging to use the facilities and by this time two other store employees and some customers were listening to our conversation. The assistant manager was extremely insensitive and rude to my personal emergency and directed me to go to the Rural King store next door.

I had to walk to the Rural King and all the way to back to the corner farthest from Jo-Ann Fabrics with my pants stained, dripping and smelling badly and do my best to clean up. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was the most embarrassing and humiliating experience of my life.

I understand that you have a policy that customers cannot use the rest rooms but is it also your policy to refuse to assist customers whom become ill in your stores? Is it your policy to put your employees in a situation where they may have to clean up a customer's bodily fluids if they become ill in the store and are refused access to the rest room?

What happened to me was out of my control, I didn't choose to get ill in the store and I certainly didn't enjoy having to beg to use the facilities or having to walk through another public place in front of even more people to take care of my problem. If I had been allowed to use the rest room in Jo-Ann Fabrics the problem would not have been as bad, I could have cleaned up more easily and not have had such a mess and avoided the added humiliation of walking through a large department store to the back to find the rest rooms.

I will never shop in that Jo-Ann Fabrics store again. I was publicly humiliated in front of the staff and customers both at Jo-Ann Fabrics and in Rural King. Carla was rude and insensitive and was more concerned about her self than showing me even a shred of respect and human decency.

I hope that in the future, if any Jo-Ann Fabrics customers become ill in one of your stores and needs assistance that they receive better treatment than I did.

Catherine W.

hi kristen.
i went to this space in Brooklyn called 3rd Ward today. It's this huge warehouse facililty with all different types of artist tools and workshops that you can use when you register with them. They have a metal shop, woodshops, huge painting areas and public gallery areas n stuff. Anywho, I went to book an event and they had closed down this enormous 20,000 sq foot event space to create artist workspaces. On the one hand, I was bummed that I couldn't book the space for an event (and cuz i got a parking ticket) but on the other, Im glad they are creating huge artist spaces for kids to do their work and not worry about how much $$$ they were making from raves and other parties going on in the space.

hi kristen.
i went to this space in Brooklyn called 3rd Ward today. On the one hand, I was bummed that I couldn't book the space for an event (and cuz i got a parking ticket) but on the other, Im glad they are creating huge artist spaces for kids to do their work and not worry about how much $$$ they were making from raves and other parties going on in the space.

yeah...i saw Lightning Bolt there back in March. they played on the 3rd floor. I checked out the place while we were waiting downstairs and online beforehand. It looks like a pretty cool idea.

There used to be this breakfast/brunch place here in denver its a gay/drag queen restaurant. Drag queens would serve you it was fun......anyways they had a ton of those pamphlets and coloring books you would get from your high school guidance counselor about drugs/sex/ect. ect. They would give you the pamphlets/coloring books to read/color in during breakfast or while you were getting wasted......god those where some of the funniest things I have ever read. Gay people have quite the imaginations, I wish they were still open so I could steal them and post them here.

Last Halloween someone on a bus gave me a religious propaganda booklet about a little boy whose mom told him not to go to a haunted house, but he went anyway and a huge hole opened up in the haunted house and he got sucked down into hell. Complete with illustrations. And salvation numbers for me to call, lest I forget and go to a haunted house or two myself. It was hilarious. I lost it, unfortunately.

By the way, that's a real coloring book. You can buy it here (http://fredflare.com/customer/product.php?productid=2267&cat=327).

I live in a town in PA that consists of about three traffic lights, one or two strip malls, and a lot of cows...However, I'm close to Harrisburg and Baltimore, both of which are obviously larger.

However, when I was at store level I was still living in MS. I lived in Jackson, which has about 250,000-300,000 in the metropolitan area. It was odd because the store I was at when the robbery happened wasn't in a high crime area. I ended up moving to a store that was in a high crime area, but I never had another incident like that.

Familystock '07 Live update!

Grandma is afraid to drive the rental car. Mom is worried about the lack of recycling, and has just given me several pairs of thigh-high striped socks. That match the ones she bought for herself. The house is full of little sticky notes, saying things like "Please be careful not to drip meat juice on my bamboo flooring". There is a basket of shoe covers outside that we are supposed to put on before we come in the house. A last-minute non-family guest is going to come, and because he's a he, my grandmother insists that instead of using one of the three beds located in my bedroom, he should sleep in the conversation pit.

Stay tuned for more tales from....Wait. Where the fuck am I again?

Welcome back to the Hannah network! All awesome, all the time.

Things took a turn rapidly earlier, when we found ourselves outside the car, with the keys locked inside. In a bold display of need, the matriarch started yelling to people in the lodge parking lot. "EXCUSE ME! DO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET INTO A CAR? I NEED SOMEONE TO BREAK INTO THIS CAR."

Fast forward. I came across a store called "Magical Christmas Treasures", but the rest of my family doesn't seem to understand experiencing things exclusively for humor, so we didn't go in.

THE CORRECT WAY TO BREW BLACK TEA

Heat pot with boiling water until warm to touch

Discard that water and use one sachet for two cups of tea

Pour boiling water over sachet and steep 5 minutes

Enjoy.

I'm sorry, what? Discard the water and THEN pour it onto my "sachet" of tea? What?

I truly fear for the youth of today. Imagine how much more random and incomplete that would have been if I hadn't added the word "Enjoy" to it. This is a legitimate, high-end product, btw. Hey. It's only 9:20. My family hasn't had time to do anything completely ridiculous yet. So, a rerun. Mob's already read this, but the rest of you can enjoy this little tidbit from my LAST family vacation, circa march 2007.

so, flashback to two weeks ago. Cue hazy border indicating that, while important to the plot, this is just a memory.

There's a seafood restaurant that my family likes in florida. We try to go there every time we're all together.

This particular instance, we went at a very busy time. I was with my grandparents and my great-grandparents. My great-grandparents cannot hear a word under normal circumstances. So of course, we get seated in the sportsbar section of the restaurant. Which is fine with me. My family, on the other hand, is not exactly thrilled.

So, a little after we are seated, the bickering begins. Just as it always does. And I abstain, just as I always do. But family bickering in a sportsbar environment is quite a spectacle.

"Never again."

"What?"

"We're never sitting in the bar again!"

"what? We're never hitting a farm again?"

"I SAID, WE'RE NEVER SITTING IN THE BAR AGAIN"

So after some bickering, we all notice that my great grandpa has his face in his hands and is not talking. It's his cataract. It's hurting his eye. So my grandpa offers to go get him a patch at the drugstore after the waitress takes our order.

He leaves for a little while, and the bickering resumes. Only now, the waitress is in on it. She brought us our entrees first, then our appetizer, and then our soup. It didn't really bother me, but certain people at the table were outraged.

So my grandfather returns with the patch. Only, they didnt have the white medic-style eye patches, they only had the black pirate-style eye patches.

At this point, I feel obligated to mention that this is, in fact, a gimmick restaurant. And the gimmick is the ocean. The walls are covered in fishnetting, buoys, and laquered fish. And sitting in the middle of it all, clueless and wearing a pirate's eye patch, is my great-grandfather.

The family continues bickering and not noticing. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there with tears streaming down my face trying really hard not to laugh out loud. So my grandma leans in and asks me what's so funny. And, since it's my nature, all i could say was,

"Yarrrrrgh".

PS did the peach schnapps work?

She opted for Dewars instead. And then another glass of Dewars after that, and then another one. I had to swap one out for a glass of water at one point.

Friday night, we all went to a baseball game. Nothing spectacular. The Eugene Emeralds are a San Diego farm team.

This is me, my mom, my stepdad, my grandmother, my grandfather, my stepdad's parents, and three non-related people. One of whom used to be on a Red Sox farm team, so the entire evening, he had that longing look in his eye like he was going to just run out on the field and join the game.

We decide to sort of caravan there, because there are so many of us. My mom, who hasn't actually been driving all that long compared to most people, is going to follow the others, because the parking lot and everything is a little confusing.

So we drive to the stadium, and my mom and I are the only ones in her car. Ahead of us is my stepdad and a non-relative. When we arrive at the stadium, they start driving past the parking lot. All of a sudden, they turn rapidly and drive over the curb and onto a field where there are numerous other cars parked for the game. Well, this doesn't sit so well with good old mom, because she immediately starts spewing profanity and looking for a cigarette. "GODDAMNIT. WHAT THE FUCK? NOW I'M IRRITATED AND I WANT TO GO HOME. WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING? I NEED A FUCKING CIGARETTE!". So she keeps driving, completely freaked out over this little instance. We're well past the stadium at this point. All the while, I'm getting phonecalls from the people in the other cars asking where we're going. And I can't exactly say "Well, she's completely snapped, so I think we're going to our graves" now, can I? I mean, she's sitting right there. So I sort of say "Uhm, I think we're looking for somewhere else to park...because..............she wants to........park somewhere else". Obviously, it was one of my more articulate moments.

We eventually find a spot a few blocks away near the high school I quit once, and she calms down. we walk up to the stadium, and find our seats. Somehow, when the seats were bought, they were in two groups, so we aren't seated all together. Somehow I end up on the end, and completely not involved in the conversation. Instead, I'm smooshed up against one of those people who oozes through their seat onto your seat. Turns out it was a she. I thought it was a guy until it put on a pink angora sweater and someone called it Sarah. But anyway. Sarah (or something) was some form of autistic. It seemed pretty developed, but she had plenty of motor skills, so it may not have been so bad. So every once in a while, she'd look at me, lean all her fat on me, and say "We don't thtand a chanthe". And I would agree, and pretend that she wasn't immensely invading my "personal space".

At one point or another, the seating shifts around, and it turns into just the girls. This is where I learn what I have been missing the entire game. My mother has smuggled in tequila, and we're all having a little party. All the while, there is a guy (somewhere in his twenties) sitting in front of us who can't stop staring at my mother.

So towards the end of the game, there are only a few folks still suitable to drive. So we start walking to the car, and at this point it's just me, my mom, and my stepdad. my mom and I are talking about something, although I don't remember what. We notice that my stepdad is gone, and we look around. Far away, we spot a silhouette of someone who looks suspiciously like him peeing on the side of my old high school.

And, curtain.

i was on a flight from nj to ca a few months ago and this big ol' guy sits in the seat next to me. no big deal being that the armrest was down so it was keeping him in his own seat. then suddenly (when i wasnt looking) he raises the arm rest and flows into my seat. im a pretty patient guy until i feel like i have to be a father to you and tell you youre doing something wrong. so i cant bring myself to say anything to him because i cant think of anything nice to say. the only thing i can picture is me being rudeto him, him being offended and trying to verbaly defend hinself, then me being arrested. so instead, i proceed to elbow the fuck ut of him everytime he started to fall asleep. let me add that this was a red eye flight. so although i was miserably tired when we arrived in sf, i was happy that i was able to fuck up someone elses flight.

I was reading the reviews for "Monsters of Rock" on cdnow.com and came across this little beauty. It shouldn't be funny but it is. Enjoy.

Great fan a classic metal/rock fan, May 8, 2003
By Darian Dennison (Walla Walla, WA) - See all my reviews

Man ain't it a shame that you don't get to hear half of those songs on the radio anymore, man music these days don't even have the magic like music from those days did, this Cd has everything from heavy metal anthems, power ballads and classic rock and this CD is a must for music lovers with an open mind.
Quiet Riot: Cum on Feel the Noize
This song is a cover hit from Slade who scored a #1 hit in England with that song and this was Quiet Riot's biggest hit reaching #5 and that's how the heavy metal/rock became a revolution throughout the 1980's, great song to party with. 5/5

Great White: Once Bitten Twice Shy
Another cover hit which was originally done by Ian Hunter in 1975 and the song became Great White's biggest hit also reaching #5 on the charts. 4/5

Alice Cooper: Poison
Alice Cooper made a huge comeback in 1989 with a monster Top 10 hit with this song and it was the very first song I've ever heard by the wonderful Alice, I had no idea that he was huge back in the early 1970's. 5/5

Europe: The Final Countdown
Europe had a Top 10 hit with this song and although they are a metal band, but they do a great job making music for the pop oriented fans and this song gives alot of good memories. 5/5

Ratt: Round and Round
Ratt was the prime for those 80's metal bands and they scored a Top 15 hit in 1984 with this song and it was a huge hit with MTV (back when MTV played nothing but videos). 5/5

Warrant: Cherry Pie
I think that Warrant is one of the most talented bands of all time cause they have a variety range of music from power ballads, metal anthems and mid tempo rock songs. 5/5

Whitesnake: Here I Go Again
Whitesnake reached their biggest hit in 1987 with this song and it still gets timeless airplay to this day, I had no idea that singer David Coverdale was also the singer for Deep Purple (he's the one who replaced the immortal Ian Gillan). 5/5

Poison: Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Poison had a #1 hit ballad and they were huge on MTV and I grew up watching their videos back in the late 1980's/early 1990's and it gives me back alot of memories, but I think that this song isn't good enough to be on this CD, I felt that either Talk Dirty to Me or Nothin' But a Good Time would've been a better choice. 4/5

Winger: Seventeen
Believe it or not, singer/bassist Kip Winger actually use to be in Alice Cooper and he would go onto fame for a few years with 17, Headed For a Heartbreak, Miles Away and Easy Come, Easy Go before he vanished in 1993 due to the alternative wave. 5/5

Living Colour: Personality
Living Colour had their only major hit in 1988 with this song and it recieved alot of airplay on MTV and I still hear this song on the radio and they were a African metal group. 4/5

Twisted Sister: Were Not Gonna Take It
Twisted Sister had their only major hit in 1984 with the rebellious Were Not Gonna Take It and they recieved plenty of MTV airplay with I Wanna Rock as well, Twisted Sister is a great band with a bad attitude. 5/5

Judas Priest: You Got Another Thing Coming
Judas Priest had their only chart hit in 1982 with this song and they've been selling records since 1974, and I think that Judas Priest is one of the best metal bands of all time and believe it or not, they got sued from inciting two young boys in Sparks, Nevada to commit suicide (One successful), oh well at least Judas Priest sold more records than scoring hit singles. 5/5

Cinderella: Nobody's Fool
We return to the ballad format with Cinderella's first major hit in 1986 and personally, I think that either Shake Me or Shelter Me would've been a better choice for this compilation than this song but oh well. 4/5

.38 Special: Hold On Loosely
The weakest choice for this CD cause .38 Special isn't a metal band, they're more of a classic rock band than a metal band but this song recieves heavy classic rock airplay. 3/5

Autograph: Turn Up the Radio
Autograph scored their only hit in 1984 with this heavy metal anthem and it's a good clean way to listen to heavy metal, I think that Autograph was one of the most talented metal bands of the 1980's and they didn't recieve huge success like they deserved. 5/5

Night Ranger: Sister Christian
Night Ranger had their biggest hit in 1984 with this power ballad but this song isn't a great choice for this compilation, Don't Tell Me You Love Me or You Can Still Rock In America would've been much better choices than this, but it's a great song. 4/5

If you're a beginner with those hair bands or slowly filling holes in you're music collection, then Monsters of Rock is a great choice but avoid Monsters of Rock Volume 2 isn't that great.

Highlights.

Alice Cooper: Poison
Alice Cooper made a huge comeback in 1989 with a monster Top 10 hit with this song and it was the very first song I've ever heard by the wonderful Alice, I had no idea that he was huge back in the early 1970's. 5/5

..

Warrant: Cherry Pie
I think that Warrant is one of the most talented bands of all time cause they have a variety range of music from power ballads, metal anthems and mid tempo rock songs.

..

So, I regret to inform you all that the family vacation ended without any further hilarity. All I have to leave you with is that I just got back from a meeting on the store's sexual harrassment policy, after which I proceeded to have a long conversation with one of my managers about boobs and cars.

And also that my mother is the state of Oregon's women's division watermelon seed spitting champion.

The well is now officially dry.
