The ole conundrum or Gordian knot …. Today I have to interview 3 different people for a management position …. The odd thing is: they will be my direct boss …. I have a thirty percent vote on who it is … so do I pick a loser I can run all over, a smart cookie that can help me with my job, the person who knows what Coachella is lol … x****

definitely not the dumb loser. Few things in life are as bad as an insecure boss.

So I go from work to the local supermarket … I buy a few things … I go back out to my sort of generic white ford pu … when I get there, the bed is FULL of groceries I didn’t buy … I am stumped and just stand there thinking someone mistook my truck for theirs … no one comes up so I start walking into the store to get the guard and tell him to get the groceries … then I hear my name called … it ends up, before I went to the store, I called Tygerlady and said I was going there … well she went there before me, waited till I went inside, and then put her groceries in there and waited for me to freak out …. PUNKED … I thought it was funny, but it did sort of show my honesty because I didn’t jump in the truck and take off thinking I got someone else’s stuff … x****

*sigh* My boss is in Africa right now, having paid tons of money to shoot a leopard and a cape buffalo. The office building in which I work is filled with carcasses, er, "trophies", and one of the company owners thinks he's Ted Nugent or something, so I've had to suck it up and just get used to the death on display. For those reasons, the cape buffalo doesn't disturb me much. But I told my boss that if he comes back and expects me to look at a picture of a dead cat, I'll quit. Tom Cruise launches Web site
By JAKE COYLE, AP Entertainment Writer
Thu May 29, 7:16 AM ET
Tom Cruise has launched a Web site devoted to himself: http://www.TomCruise.com.

Many stars have their own sites for fans, but Cruise's belated entry to the Internet is of particular interest.

Few stars have seen themselves pilloried more on the Web than Cruise, who has watched numerous embarrassing moments ricochet around the Internet at warp speed. Who can forget watching the clips of Cruise appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" way back in June 2005, in the early days of Web 2.0?

The event — the beginning of Cruise's publicity crisis — is alluded to on the new site, which links to his recent interview with Winfrey. Sitting at his Telluride, Colo., home, the talk show host refers to it as "the sofa incident."

More than that, though, videos of Cruise speaking passionately about Scientology became viral hits earlier this year, prompting many parodies, including one by actor Jerry O'Connell.

So it makes sense that Cruise might want to protect his brand a little bit by using the great powers of the Internet. The site is in many ways standard for a celebrity. Among the features are a "message from Tom," a glowing biography and handsome photographs.

The actor explains: "I created this site as a thank you, to you, for sharing the journey with me and to invite you to continue to explore what the future will bring."

The occasion for his reflection is the 25th anniversary of "Risky Business," his first starring role and the one that immediately made him a star. Posted for streaming is a video edited by the Museum of the Moving Image looking back on Cruise's career.

"My hope with this site is to bring you in and share with you the fun I experience every day during the filmmaking process, from working with the script, to the making of the film through to what we finally see when we settle in our seats and the lights go down," writes Cruise.

If Cruise really does this — if he uses his Web site like a filmmaking journal — it could be a delightful and illuminating perspective on what it's like for a true megastar to make a movie. More likely, though, is infrequent postings and a less intimate perspective.

After all, even Cruise himself says he's now more guarded after so much criticism over his religion and personal beliefs.

"When I'm dealing with my humanitarian issues, I'll talk about my humanitarian issues," Cruise told Winfrey. "And when I'm promoting a film, I'm just going to promote the film. And that's just the way it's going to be."

His next starring role is as a World War II German officer in "Valkyrie." Its release was recently pushed back four months until Feb. 13, 2009, which many read as a bad sign for the film. The buzz has been much better for a cameo he makes in the upcoming Ben Stiller comedy "Tropic Thunder."

Radiohead to Prince: Unblock 'Creep' cover videos

By JAKE COYLE, AP Entertainment Writer Fri May 30, 7:30 AM ET

WASHINGTON - After word spread that Prince covered Radiohead's "Creep" at Coachella, the tens of thousands who couldn't be there ran to YouTube for a peek. Everyone was quickly denied — even Radiohead.

All videos of Prince's unique rendition of Radiohead's early hit were quickly taken down, leaving only a message that his label, NPG Records, had removed the clips, claiming a copyright violation. But the posted videos were shot by fans and, obviously, the song isn't Prince's.

In a recent interview, Thom Yorke said he heard about Prince's performance from a text message and thought it was "hilarious." Yorke laughed when his bandmate, guitarist Ed O'Brien, said the blocking had prevented him from seeing Prince's version of their song.

"Really? He's blocked it?" asked Yorke, who figured it was their song to block or not. "Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment."

Yorke added: "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our ... song."

YouTube prohibits the posting of copyrighted material. If the site receives a complaint from a copyright owner, it will in most cases remove the video(s). Whether the same could be done for a company not holding a copyright is less clear, but Yorke's argument would seem to bear some credence according to YouTube's policies. YouTube, which is owned by Google, declined to comment.

Prince also did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.

The dispute was an interesting twist in debates over digital ownership, held between two major acts with differing views on music and the Internet. Radiohead famously released their most recent album, "In Rainbows," as a digital download with optional pricing. They also have a channel on YouTube.

When Prince performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., on April 26, he prohibited the standard arrangement of allowing photographers to shoot near the stage during the first three songs of his set. Instead, he had a camera crew filming his performance.

Prince, who founded NPG Records in 1993, has been innovative when it comes to music distribution, too. He released his 1997 album, "Crystal Ball," on the Internet and in 2006 was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Webbys. In 2007, he gave away copies of his disc "Planet Earth" in a British Sunday newspaper.

But the Purple One has also shut down his official Web site and in September of last year said he would sue YouTube and eBay for not filtering unauthorized content.

Prince fans have organized to urge him to relent in his legal fights to control images and photographs of himself. As of Thursday, the most popular YouTube clip about Prince playing "Creep" is an expletive-laden rant from Sam Conti Jr., who describes himself as a "former Prince fan."

I love it when my cat Miles gets out at night. Sometimes he'll sneak out of my window and just be cruising around the backyard all night. When he comes back in the next morning, he just sits there and looks like he's about to fall asleep, and he reminds me of some rebellious teenager who partied all night and can't stay awake the next day.

Fried Chicken Dicks

That Was Some Nassssty Stuff...

Got me a jones for some Popeye's Fried Chicken last night. It hits every so often, and I go pick up a box of the extra-spicy and then spend the next day belching and regretting it.

Usually I just get the chicken strips. You get to eat the whole thing, and since there's no bones to worry about, you don't have to peel your cats out of the trashcan at 3 a.m. from their dumpster-diving expedition. They introduced the 'naked' strips last year, with no breading, just the spice mix rubbed into the meat. Those are pretty damned tasty!

Last night, though, they had a special on an 8 piece mixed box for about tree fitty. Got my fried dead bird, took it home, fired up a DVD and settled in for dinner. First thing I noticed when I opened the box was some enormous chicken breasts with some godawful contraption hanging off the front of it. WTF?? I couldn't figure out just what the hell was attached to the breast, so I started peeling off the fried crispies, and revealed....

A HUGE CHICKEN COCK!!!! AAAAAHHH!!!!

OK, it was really a chicken neck, but I was still kinda grossed out. I was not aware that Popeye's served chicken with offal still attached, but I guess they do. I can't see the point of eating a neck. From what I saw, it was mostly bone, and I just couldn't see trying to suck the meat off of it. It would've been too close to actually sucking a... well, you get the picture.

Photobucket’s DNS records hijacked by Turkish hacking group
Posted by Dancho Danchev @ 6:27 am

Yesterday, Photobucket the world’s most popular photo sharing site according to Hitwise had its DNS records hijacked to return a hacked page courtesy of the NetDevilz hacking group, a Turkish web site defacement group most widely known for its defacement of the adult video site Redtube earlier this year. Photobucket users across the world are reporting minor outages of the service and problems when trying to access their accounts, the consequence of what looks like the type of DNS records hijacking that redirected Comcast.net to a third-party domain last month.

Third-party site monitoring services indicate that the site was down for 15 minutes yesterday, from from 17:39:39 to 17:55:10, whereas according to a comment left by a Photobucket Forum Support representative, the downtime due to the propagation of the corrected DNS entries was longer :

“On Tuesday afternoon, some users that typed in the Photobucket.com URL were temporarily redirected to an incorrect page due to an error in our DNS hosting services. The error was fixed within an hour of its discovery, but due to the nature of the problem, some users will not have access to Photobucket for a few hours as the fix rolls out. It is important to note that only a portion of Photobucket users encountered the problem and that no Photobucket content, password information or other personal information was affected by the redirect.”

The NetDevilz hacking group left the following message, that appears to have been loading from a third-party domain, atspace.com in this case :

“… ve NeTDevilz yeniden sahnede

Bizi hatırlayan var mı ? Unutulduğumuzu düşündük ve tekrar hatırlatmaya karar verdik !
( Turkish hackers group )

we are came back !
©2008 NetDevilz Co.
We’re not first,But We’re the BEST!”

The hacking group appears to have been using the hosting services of atspace.com, the web hosting service of Zetta hosting solutions, and users of Photobucket attempting to access the site with the old DNS entries are still being redirected to a default hosting ad page within atspace.com. The effect of the redirection can also be seen by taking a peek at the publicly obtainable stats for atspace.com, where the sudden peak in traffic resulting in 118,864 visitors for today came from the default ad page used in the redirection.

With the second DNS hijacking attack against a high-profile domain in the recent months, it seems that adaptive malicious parties unable to directly compromise a site will continue taking advantage of good old-fashioned DNS hijacking. At least to prove that it’s still possible even on a high-profile domain using the services of a Tier 1 domain registrar.

also, I just went to photobucket right now and they have this message up:

IMPORTANT! Photobucket.com problem read here:
Last night Photobucket.com DNS at register.com was hacked by malicious people that are trying to compromise our business!
We are in no way affiliated with such bad deeds and cooperate with photobucket in capturing these individuals.
They have pointed the domain photobucket.com to an account hosted on our systems!
We have blocked that and photobucked techs have restored the domain pointing to its original location!
ALL account information and pictures on photobucket.com are OK, please have patience!
Unfortunately the complete DNS replication usually takes 24-48 hours and during this time caches DNS records might still point to us!
The normal operation of Photobucket is restored and as soon as the replication is complete there should be no further such issues!
We would like to emphasize that we are in now way responsible for what happens with photobucket and all users bumping across our systems!
We are a legitimate web hosting company operating since 2003 and in no way tolerate such hacking attempts!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at abuse@zettahost.com!
Thanks for your patience and understanding!

We did Relay for Life on Sat. night. We took the 3rd shift because not many people wanna do it, and I can still feel it. I'm tired as hell today. 5 years ago I wouldn't have even felt this today. Fuck getting old.

Boy George Denied US Visa
June 24, 2008 10:06 AM
By Suzanne Kayian
LiveDaily Contributor
Boy George has been denied entry into the US, putting his upcoming summer tour in jeopardy. A statement issued on his behalf said the performer is devastated that he will not be able to tour the US this summer as planned. However, the US dates have yet to be canceled, according to published reports.

The singer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, was denied a visa because he is facing a trial in London for an incident that occurred in April 2007, according to the statement. O'Dowd was arrested for assault and false imprisonment after a 28-year-old male escort from Norway claimed he was chained to a wall and threatened at the performer's East London home.

O'Dowd, who has denied the charges, is free on unconditional bail and British authorities apparently are allowing him to travel. "He is clearly not considered any form of risk in London in that regard and in that respect, we are asking US Authorities to reconsider their position," his management said.
