So here it goes.....
Post any news, questions, comments regarding our beloved festival here. We're waiting for the presale to drop in the next few weeks for Voodoofest 2010. Halloween falls on the Last day of the festival this year, so once again looking to have a great Halloween party in city park.
http://thevoodooexperience.com
Update!!!
Presale ticket link, bypasses the code (https://www.thevoodooexperiencetickets.com/boxoffice/?eid=1604&goto=ga)
Or follow this
link (https://www.thevoodooexperiencetickets.com/boxoffice/voodoo.cfc?method=display) and use the presale code VOODOOEXP
This is usually good for the 1st 1000 tickets at $99, then it goes up to $125, then eventually $200 at the gate. If you are particularly delicate, or want to feel important, VIP/Loa Lounge tickets are a steal at $325 on presale. That's cheaper than 4 therapy sessions!
EDIT
Here goes the attempt to track confirmed and rumored acts. I'll update semi-regularly or whenever I feel like it.
Damn near confirmed
OZZY
Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Love
Rumored, not just hoped for
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Juvenile
Muse
Passion Pit
Metric
Daft Punk
Not gonna happen

Really enjoyed Voodoo the last two years - considering it again this year. I'll pick up the tickets, anyway, and hope for the best.
I never did find the cajun vendor at Coachella - my wife was hot for some beignets, too! Guess we have to remedy that at Halloween!

i loved that place! the chicken Po Boy for 7 (?) bucks was delicious and they gave you a huge cup with free refills on the Iced Tea. It was in the food court by the Sahara. Can't speak for the jambalaya though.

So, the presale starts today the 23rd or 24th? The presale page won't load for some reason and I can't get any info. How much do tix usually run. It's been a while for me. Also, I think I might have a person or two to stay with in Nola. If not, I can always drive 1 1/2 hours back home at some point during the day. I'm going to play accommodations by ear. Something should turn up.

Kory, this is not the correct place to post this, but I just saw that Dax is doing a show on May 1st in Lafayette (Grant Street Dancehall). The rest of his dates are in TX. Would be sweet if he played Voodoo. I guess he's not really big enough, though. I take that back. He is down there for sure.

He played in Voodoo '08 it was a pretty good set. If he isn't on the lineup he'll play one of the after parties at HOB or the howling wolf. Afterparties are at least 1/3 the fun of voodoo.

There's a deal for the Intercontinental Hotel at $79 on Bookit.com. This is a really nice hotel - I stayed there in '09 and met Andrew from Wolfmother in the elevator... but it doesn't have parking, so bear that in mind if you bite.
The deal is "$79 4-Diamond Hotel". It's right down the street from the Bourbon Street action, and very near a Popeye's, which is great fast food if necessary, but still a couple miles from City Park. The traffic will be a bear on Halloween, without question.

Good deal.
About parking and driving, the best thing we have done over the years is park our car along Canal past Rampart after we check into the hotel. From your hotel take the Canal Streetcar to and from City Park. It's $1.25 each way and runs frequently during Voodoo. When you decide you want your car, just pull the wire for a stop where you parked it. By far the most convienent way to get back and forth in NOLA. The trip to City park is always fun because it is 90% Voodoo participants.

Check out the past lineups. We've seen some interesting shows here. It is no coachella, but we have always gotten our moneys worth from this festival. $99 for three day festival is hard to beat. It's very easy to get around if you stay in the French quarter, and the real benefit is the one off shows going on after the festival ends each night. As far as night life goes, only TJ parties harder than NOLA.

Just bought LOA tickets for voodoo today, even though Coachella this year has "cheapened" voodoo so much for me (and especially Jazzfest).
Speaking of voodoo, theres a big group on facebook I started a while back trying to get Daft Punk to play at voodoo for part of their next world tour this winter (close to 7k people). Since some of you all are going, I'd appreciate it if you would join and invite anyone else who is http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=186230305842&ref=ts

Well, I joined the Daft Punk group... My daughter is a big Daft Punk nerd, and the Lolla folks won't ever stop bragging about their set a few years ago... so there it is.
As for Muse... that's pretty compelling evidence - a full Halloween weekend layoff, and St. Louis isn't a long drive from N'Awlins at all. This makes me smile, since I missed them at Coachella.
Last year the KISS confirmation came in April, but the rest trickled out a lot later.

Justice pulled off arguably the best DJ set I've ever heard them spin in years, but the whole scenario with them playing was a mess. They were on the lineup early in the summer as a live show, then got pulled off the lineup by voodoo (busy p confirmed it and apologized), and then we got some petitions going to bring them back and once over a thousand or so people joined they finally had them back on the lineup but only as a dj set. Plus they got cut off for eminem after going like 30 minutes over their time and xavier was piiiissed off.
It's definitely growing more and more as a festival each year. Kiss and Eminem's only full show for 2009 is something to brag about after all...

Justice pulled off arguably the best DJ set I've ever heard them spin in years, but the whole scenario with them playing was a mess.
Even worse was the unexpectedly high winds that more or less defeated their "art" (light) show during the DJ set. They released these giant cool-looking orbs (like huge balloons) and had a boatload of fog to bounce lights off, but within a minute or so, all the orbs were halfway across City Park and the fog dissipated so much you couldn't make out the designs from the light show.
From a casual observer's perspective, it was a nightmare scenario, so we left early to get a rail spot for Fischerspooner's sublimely weird live show, and we weren't disappointed having done so. Justice was good, but nature was against them.

Since the death of the playstation tent in 2005 at the Katrina show in Audubon, I had stopped getting excited about great electronic and dj acts at voodoo, however, I was greatly excited at the crowd reaction to Justice, despite the wonderful NOLA weather we were experiencing. From the front of the crowd it was hard to tell what the reaction was behind us, everyone around us was rocking the fuck out though. I'm hoping that we get at least one or two similar acts on the line up this year. And for the record, Fisherspooner did not disapoint either. It was a visual and sonic treat with humor and energy.
TomServo
05-06-2010, 11:04 AM
Fischerspooner was fucking amazing - although their late setup caused me to miss all but the last Eminem song (I wasn't exactly tearing up over this loss). But then again, I really like their last record.
Justice held a huge crowd, and they sounded good. Folks were having fun. I didn't mean to disparage their performance, just saying after all the talk and build up about the "art" portion of their show, it was disappointing to see it all disperse due to the heavy gusts of wind.
Last year's Voodoo sucked in a lot of ways, though. Terrible bathroom situation (the worst I've seen at any festival, ever), no soft drink sponsor (so you could only buy soda from the ice cream float vendor!), bad weather (we got rained on a lot during Janelle Monae and Silversun Pickups, IIRC), and crowds that needed to be prodded to respond to even the biggest spectacles (Flaming Lips, KISS, and Lenny Kravitz all had to encourage the crowd to get into the show)... but I'm hoping that, like Coachella next year, the bad experiences will become good lessons.
It'll be fun to close out on Halloween, too. I've got to come up with a good costume plan after last year's Left 4 Dead theme (I was a Hunter, my wife played Zoe).

The bathroom situation was horrible. It was even worse in VIP. There were something like 4 stalls for all of VIP.

That weather gave me a new appreciation for how desert culture has evolved to placed functionality before fashion. I would have been comfortable in almost any new Orleans weather dressed in my salwar kameez, turban and a chapan.

Yeah my girlfriend was wearing a wedding dress and shrimper boots. It was an odd combination of the two that probably made her look like "cajun bride" rather than what we were going for.

I've been to this a few years and its a really fun festival - one of the few festivals you can walk around and drink a beer, which in my opinion, is the only way to go in NOLA :). 2007 was great - it was the same year Rage played both Coachella and Voodoo (their Voodoo performance was way better than Coachella, but both were aweseome). Last year was good, except the weather was shitty - we got drenched during the Black Keys - but it was kinda fun. Everytime they would get into a fast, deep groove the rain would pick up, so it seemed like the weather gods were in approval. Justice's set was ok - nothing like Coachella in 08 (i think it was 08) but it was ok. Hardcore Justice fans were standing in front of us, and they weren't really digging it much. The best part of the festival, in my opinion, was the Flaming Lips. It was an energetic, fun, touching show. Loved it. Oh, and Gogol Bordello - the crowd started small during their set, but by the end the entire field was full. It was great to see people walking up in disbelief and just start dancing like crazy. We are going back this year - don't really care who the lineup is, cause NOLA on Halloween is just insane! :)

Interesting. As of yesterday, Muse have canceled their November tour dates (http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/atoz/2010/05/muse_cancels_its_st_louis_show_2010_november_3_tou r_dates.php) in Missouri, since their bassist is expecting a baby in November. Muse had previously played St. Louis on every U.S. tour for the past half-decade... and that was a lot of shows.
This leaves me scratching my head - Voodoo seemed obvious with the 5-day delay between Virginia and Missouri, but with no Missouri dates now, will the band make the 15-hour drive to NOLA? This is either a really bad sign (perhaps negotiations with Voodoo fell apart, so they scrapped everything after Virginia), or a potentially good sign (a Voodoo show would be Muse' last tour date in 2010).
Then again - if they were planning to make the 16-hour drive to KC for two midwest shows, they'd almost definitely be willing to make a 15-hour drive for a big festival payday as (potentially) the #1 headliner.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Muse opened Voodoo (Oct. 29), since they may not be mainstream enough to close the festival on Halloween, even if their show and talent warrant the spot. But... I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make the show at all, given this news.
P.S. It should be noted that Muse haven't played anywhere in Louisiana since at least 2005. I couldn't find any Muse tour date in or around New Orleans in the past half-decade. That might enter the equation.

Bored at work, waiting for things to happen. So, here's a short list of bands that are going to be on the road, but (likely) won't be appearing at Voodoo 2010:
Roger Waters/The Wall - In KC on 10/30, in NYC Nov 3.
Lady Gaga - Playing in the UK on 10/30.
The Black Crowes - They fit the style of the fest, but touring in PA and NY at Halloween, and playing Biloxi on 10/1.
Metallica - Big name headliner, but they're in Australia in October and November.
Aldous Snow - He's fictional.
Santana - In Norway at Halloweentime.
The Black Keys - Playing the N'Awlins House of Blues in late September, and in the UK on the festival weekend.
The Whigs - Playing with The Black Keys on the above HoB date.
Rodrigo y Gabriela - Playing in the UK 11/2.
Paramore - Playing in NOLA in September.
Tegan and Sara - Playing with Paramore on the above date.
Jeff Beck - Seems to be playing all over the UK in October.
Swans - Playing in the UK Halloween weekend.
Foals - Playing in the UK Halloween weekend.
Imogen Heap - Playing in the UK Halloween weekend.
Nick Cave/Grinderman - Playing in France on 10/26.
Yeasayer - In the Netherlands 10/29.
Joe Satriani - In the Netherlands 10/29 & 10/31.
The Chemical Brothers - Playing in France on 10/29.
OK Go - Playing in NYC on 10/29.
Add any others that you know won't be there!

The discussion on CoS centers around a rumor that Ozzy was signing a contract to appear on Halloween. If true, this is perfect for multiple reasons... he fits the Halloween tone perfectly, he shouldn't be very expensive, and his set list will be short, allowing for another big-name Halloween closer.
Sure, he's a washout, and he left his talent behind years ago... but he's still a rock legend and if you're going to see him, there's no better setting (exactly the formula for KISS a year ago, who co-headlined Halloween night with Jane's Addiction).

I'm worried about Muse, I was sure they are going to be there, but with this baby stuff and the cancelling of dates, now I have no clue. Thats a huge factor for whether I go or not, because Muse is my favorite band and I want to see them again (though I may be seeing them at ACL). Theres a few other bands that would convince me but if Muse is there im pretty much sold (I have an unhealthy obsession)
If Ozzy is there though, my dad may force me to go and take him because my dad wants to see Ozzy really badly while he has a chance and this would be his closest date to us, since Ozzfest doesnt have a date in Texas this year for some reason. I'm not a huge Ozzy fan but wouldnt mind seeing him.
As for others, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant, Two Door Cinema Club, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, MGMT, and Jack White in any form would all be great. Most festivals this year have had great line-ups (at least to me) so I'm hoping this one is no different

That was terrible - but it's part of the schtick, kind of. Here he is performing last year at BlizzCon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fb7o2qmUWQ&feature=related)... he doesn't SOUND great, but he doesn't sound like a Zombie, either. He knows the lyrics and doesn't seem to be fumbling and mumbling.
I support the idea of Ozzy only because I think it indicates two headliners that night, like KISS and Jane's last year. Ozzy as a solo headliner would be a mistake.

You totally miss the point of having Ozzy at Voodoofest. What makes this festival so special to us is not the popularity of the artist, not always even the quality of the show, it's how well they fit in acts that celebrate the vibe of this event. Voodoo was not picked at random. This represents something magical that happens in our city when we embrace our history, good and especially bad. If you've ever spent any time here at the howling wolf, old tipitina's or any of the miriad of historic venues we have and watched as artist jump into a late night set, joining in with whoever was on the playbill, you've seen the voodoo that happens as that performance turns into something you never expected, and will probably never see again. The practice of these old religious rituals are part of our culture and are embraced by the musical community and have been for generations. That shit is about channeling "dark forces" to get something to happen. We like evil here and Ozzy represents evil quite well. We're nostaligic that way. The headliners are not the whole fest, but the can help represent the theme. Bottom line is come Halloween night, we and 20,000 of our closest friends, will be in New Orleans, most of us in costume, celebrating history, music, and the evil of the world channeled through wires and amplified to hundreds of thousands of watts. I hope to Satan the prince of darkness is leading the way the best he can that night. It will be epic, not a shame. If you don't understand, come check it out. If you still don't understand, give it up, you never will.

Is it the association with Blink-182 off last year's tour? Overall excited by this lineup. We missed jonsi and die antwood due to conflictchella this year, so feel pretty blessed to see them show up at Voodoo. Seriously did not expect this. Omg yes. The week of Voodoo is music heaven in the den of evil. Aftershows, aftershows, aftershows. They pop up all over town. Small acoustic sets, impromptu collaborations, straight up balls out(literally) small venue shows, and a party hard attitude second only to Tijuana. I'm sorry but I can't disagree more with you on this one. Pinkerton was one of the best written albums to come out of the 90's. It was a confessional, loaded with emotion and powerful rock songs. Pork & Beans has no heart, soul or emotion. It's chalked full of pop culture references and funny phrases like not giving a hoot about what you think. I mean we went from some really deep emotional poetry on Pinkerton like "i've got a number of irrational fears, that I'd like to share with you" I mean, pretty cut and dry right? but it says so much, so full of insecurity but he wants to take that leap and he's ready because he's in love......and then we have Pork and Beans "Imma do the things that i wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you."
Which sounds like something an out of control teen would say on Montel Williams.
I know that's just one example but Pinkerton is sacred and I wouldn't want that Pork & Beans song anywhere near my Pinkerton. heh.

Coachella is $300 when you add service fees. Voodoo will be closer to $200 when all is said and done. I don't think it's that much of a bargain. $100 more dollars to go to Coachella is well worth it when you compare the two lineups. I'm not saying Voodoo is overpriced or expensive or not great. I'm just trying to get you at realistic price levels and then compare the lineups and festival experience or whatever. Side by side if Coachella was a flat $300 and Voodoo is a flat $150. I'm still going to Coachella because the artists and the experience are well worth it. I hope to make it to voodoo one day though.

I understand how deep of an album Pinkerton is. And I love the album. But have you listened to the lyrics of El Scorcho? They are completely ridiculous and silly. That is why it is a stand out track on that album. I think "Pork & Beans" could have fit in with the album in same vein. El Scorcho also has some pop culture references in it.
I am not saying the Red Album is anywhere near comparable to Pinkerton. I am just saying "Pork & Beans" could have easily fit into Pinkerton. Musically, it also sounds the most like any Blue Album/Pinkerton era Weezer since those albums.

Oh yeah, if I had a chance to go to Coachella this year I would have done it in a heartbeat, even if it meant missing Voodoo. I wanted to go really badly but I don't live close enough, it would have costed much more than 300 overall for me to make it out there, since I would have probably had to fly there. Voodoo's much closer so that makes it easier for me. If I was closer to Coachella I would have gladly forked out the extra 100 bucks and went to that instead.
Though I'm personally ok with Voodoo's price and im glad im going. Can't wait for it. Also, music festival on halloween sounds awesome.

I know Josh. It boils down to us feeling differently about the song Pork & Beans. While El Scorcho is silly it fits perfectly on Pinkerton where I think Pork & Beans is inferior. I don't tihnk there is a right or wrong, i'm just passionate about Pinkerton, like I said, it's sacred.
Now i'm just bitter over how the band evolved. :) I did watch a good portion of their webcast at Bonnaroo. It was alright but they really just come off as a shell of what they used to be. I'll never forget how crazy, exciting and fun their live shows were in the mid 90's and how empty I felt after seeing them the last two times this decade, one of which was at Coachella 05'. One thing I will say about Rivers though, he wanted to be an arena rock star since day 1. That was the impression I got from them very early on. I just didn't expect them to suck so bad by the time they got there.

Actually, Green Album came before Maladroit. Also, I actually like the Green Album but find Maladroit basically unlistenable.
Yeah, pretty much. I mean, the Green Album was no Pinkerton, certainly, but the singles were fun. Maladroit was just garbage.

But seriously, it may not be a headliner type but I'm sure it'll be a somewhat well-known national act, they wouldn't tease adding them alone if it wasn't someone somewhat big, would they? They'd just add them in with the other additions when the schedule is announced or whenever they make those.
I've heard rumors of The Strokes and Soundgarden. I would be very very very happy with the Strokes.

BTW, to anyone whose been before, are LOA VIP passes worth it? I've already bought them but I'm just curious. This is my first year and I bought VIP passes because person im going with wanted them and said they were way worth it.
Not really worth it, but at $350 a good bargain to sell for a profit before the festival. The perks are very few, the bathrooms still get pretty grotesque, and most of the VIP viewing areas really suck. Regular admission gets you access to great food, shitty(pun intended) port-o-potties, plenty of space to stretch out and lots of shade under 100+ year old oak trees.
I've reserved a room at the Marriott through the Voodoo website. $129 per night compared to $274 on hotels.com. Bargain.
You can get cheaper rooms, but the Marriot is really the best place to be for Voodoo. Middle of the French Quarter, plenty of options for getting back and forth from the festival and aftershows, decent rooms, and the 72 hour party that rages on. We are close enough to drive back and forth each day, but wouldn't miss out on being there. It's like the campground at Coachella, but with working showers, down pillows, and room service.

50 feet from the street car. It gets you there and back in 20 minutes for a buck 25 each way. There is usually a bus you can pay for that is "express service" for around 60 bucks for the weekend and it picks up and drops off at the Marriot. I've never used the bus, so can't really say if there is any value in it. Either way you make the trip to City Park with a load of festival goers who have not waited to get to the park to start the party. Cabs are also available for around 12 bucks each way. Most of the aftershows are within 10blocks of the Marriot.

Most venues are 18+ to enter, 21 to drink. Most of the aftershows are just listed on the venues websites, some pop up on the individual club's playbill the day of the show. Some artist will announce where they will be later that night at the end of their voodoo set. I've seen no central place where it all gets posted, but always had at least a dozen good shows to pick from after midnight.

Total mix, we never know what to expect. Most of the regular venues have at least one act that could easily have been on the voodoo lineup or played in the last few years. At these shows it's not unusual to see members of bands playing voodoo in a guest appearance. There are also shows by voodoo performers, especially the djs. Tiesto invited all 20000 to Ampersand after his set a couple years ago. Went on till the sun came up. Just start watching hob, republic, one eyed jacks, howling wolf, or tips. Check pollstar. The'll start having listings for October by mid July.

I still don't understand the utter lack of Soundgarden and Faith No More at these festivals. If FNM only manages one 55 minute setlist in the entire US festival season, there's something terribly wrong with our music scene.

Yeah, with MMJ on the second line (and before Weezer, which was a bit of a surprise), the top line looks like it's missing something. Might just be a coincidence.
One of the CoS commenters suggested that Soundgarden will be added AFTER Lollapalooza, due to their contract with the fest. Probably just a rumor, but I can't think of a reason in the world that they aren't booked at more fests.

I was a LOA VIP two years ago, and we spent maybe a half hour in the area total (same as the abysmal Coachella VIP area). Last year they added the VIP space in front of the stage, and that was appealing, but ultimately unnecessary. It's not too tough to get a decent spot at Voodoo, everybody's pretty laid back in my experiences.
The non-VIP restrooms were horrendous last year, though, so if you're a germophobe, that might be a strong reason to go VIP.

Looking at last year's schedule, the show supposedly started at 10:45am on Friday... but that's questionable, since most of us were in line for wristbands well past 11. There probably weren't any real popular acts playing until the afternoon, with the Cool Kids and Janelle Monae both after 4, lots of local acts earlier than that and some jazz.
I doubt you'll miss many national acts if you arrive late, but if you're planning on camping for a night act, you might be in trouble. This fest kicks into gear in the late afternoon. Examples from last year:
Friday after 4: The Cool Kids, Janelle Monae, Black Keys, Silversun Pickups, Justice, Fischerspooner, Eminem (we saw some of all of these acts without too much work at all)
Saturday after 3: Mates of State, Mutemath, Gogol Bordello, Wolfmother, Jane's Addiction, KISS (saw all of these)
Sunday got started earlier... after 1: All Time Low, Brand New, The Pogues, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Flaming Lips, Lenny Kravitz (some all of these)
If the past is any indication, the festival starts slow and ramps up, like any trip to N'awlins should. I think they want to encourage everyone to check out the local acts and oddities (like Fleur de Tease) in the early afternoon, and enjoy the national acts as the night approaches.

Appreciate the feedback Tom, love the Patton avatar as well, saw them in Frisco this year and was amazing.
Since we couldn't swing Roo or Coach this year; Voodoo wins our vote as I'm not stoked with the whole Epicenter 2010 thing (last year's Epicenter was a lineup for the decade in one day). ACL blew it because they weren't willing to sell more three day passes, not to mention NOLA on Halloween just has to be killer.
Voodoo has quality all over a cool selection of genres and many bands at fests that I wanted to see but haven't had a chance because of conflicts.
I saw some vids of Ozzy a few days ago in LA and his voice was pretty horrid but with it being the Night of darkness with the Prince of darkness I won't think it will matter.

To each their own man. It's the variety of music I like;
Paper Tongue, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Street Sweeper Social Club, Hollywood Undead, Atreyu, Wolfmother, Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, Tool.
There wasn't a boring moment and I was thoroughly entertained for the whole day. It was a full day where I was able to get to every show and saw some bands I hadn't seen before, including on of my favorites in Tool (freaking Maynard was on crutches).
I may not be as sophisticated as some peeps that go to concerts on here but I know what I like. After going to an average of 80 concerts a year for the last ten years I can say it was one of the better full days of music.

So considering you got to see most of those people, sounds like they are pretty good at scheduling? I'm hoping theres no big conflicts for me. Do the top headliners usually play alone or against someone? Like, for example, would Ozzy and Muse play at the same time as anyone else big, based on past years I mean? Mostly just hoping neither plays at the same time as MGMT.
And, are the stages close and is it easy to get around? I'll probably be running stage to stage. Like, say someone ended at 5 that I watched, and there was another set on another stage starting right at 5, I'd probably be able to make it in time to not miss much?
TomServo
06-24-2010, 11:39 PM
The two main stages are opposite each other, and they play alternating sets that don't overlap... so, for instance, when Wolfmother finished, you'd just walk across the field to the Jane's Addiction stage and enjoy their whole set, then repeat the action for KISS. Easy as hell, unless you intend to camp out a particular artist... even then you can maintain a decent spot without getting crushed and still kind of see the action on the other stage. (I'd recommend the former approach, though)
Unlike Lolla, there aren't many major headliners opposing each other, and if they are, they're from different genres - George Clinton vs. a rock act, Eminem vs. Fischerspooner, so forth. However, they've got a robust electronic stage this year, and I expect the major electronic acts will overlap with the rock headliners.
Finally, the distance between stages is sort of a happy medium between Coachella and Lollapalooza - there are no mile-long stretches you have to brave to catch multiple acts, yet the stages don't have major sound bleed or overlap. You'll find that most folks are wandering around rather than running from place to place, the atmosphere is pretty laid back (unlike the mad dash from Raconteurs to Radiohead at Lolla a couple years back).
There are downsides, and ways that Rehage really need to improve. Last year they got in a dispute with Pepsi and had *NO* soft drinks at all for the entire fest (I bought a root beer float and drank the root beer separate to beat this stupid policy), and the bathrooms turned into a muddy disgusting mosh pit reminiscent of Woodstock '99 when the rains came. But for $99 (the early bird price, not the current $149) - Halloween, great music, costumes, cajun food... with thousands of your closest friends? A steal.

Has anyone seen the line up on Wikipedia? They claim that Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, and Atoms For Peace were added to the line up on 06/24/10. There is no way this can be true, is there? I got excited at first, then realized its the most uncreddible source around.

Soundgarden and Atoms for Peace might be likely adds, but I highly doubt that Led Zeppelin would have Voodoo be their first USA show who knows how long. If they ever do a tour again I doubt they would do Festivals here in the USA, Glastonbury or other major European ones maybe, but not here. Either way nothing has been announced on Voodoo's website and I wouldn't hold your breath.

I think this is as close as it comes. Consequence of Sound has a lot of Voodoo comments on their Festival Outlook page (none recent), the Muse board had a lot of Voodoo talk for awhile, and sometimes the Lolla board is good for crossover fests... but feel free to let us know if you find something else.

So, maybe I'm reading wrong, but I think LCD and Hot Chip are going to be touring together in October. I'm thinking LCD will be added. I think they'd be a good fit. Not as a headliner or anything, maybe playing before a headliner. Like before Muse on Friday. Or maybe headlining the dance tent one night. Though that seems more for DJs.
I'm not so sure if they'll add another headliner. Though if so I'm thinking Soundgarden still. We probably won't know until September time about a third headliner. Though if LCD would announce their dates already we might would be able to figure that out.

There's gotta be another headliner. The way the schedule is starting to look, there is no way they put Weezer before Ozzy. Soundgarden still makes sense. We'll see if they announce them after Lolla. I'm not sure who else is likely...
The only possible headliner-ish bands are Phoenix, LCD Soundsystem, Soundgarden, maybe the Strokes or MIA if/when they announce their tours.
The other headliners touring just don't make sense for one reason or another (Tom Petty, Pavement, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Gorillaz)
Who knows...

I think theres still a chance we get one headliner level and one near headliner level-ish. Like Soundgarden and either LCD or Phoenix (Both have tour dates that fit).
But yeah I really hope we don't have to wait long after Lolla. I really do think Soundgarden will be added, it makes sense, they have a reason for being added late, and theres this
http://consequenceofsound.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/soundgarden.png
hmmmmm
So I'm pretty certain Soundgarden will be there. I'm not sure on another big add but I'm hoping/thinking there might be. Someone said that there was like room for 2-3 adds each day comparing this schedule to other years. I don't know how accurate it is, and even if it is really accurate im sure some of those will be smaller bands/local bands, but theres still a chance they add someone else.
Also, so Soundgarden would most likely be before Ozzy right? So, would that mean My Morning Jacket closes out Sunday? Are they a big enough draw (I'm not talking good enough, im talking big enough) to get a big crowd on Sunday vs the Saints game (The Saints are huge in New Orleans, and the game starts at about the same time the Sunday headliner will go on), vs Widespread Panic playing across town, AND vs people wanting to go hang out in New Orleans outside of the fest on Halloween?

Also someone mentioned Ghostland Observatory and I could see that. Also, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation (touring together) are playing moogfest on saturday (which has a lot of cross-over) and then hitting up Dallas on November 1st. New Orleans is pretty much on the way to Dallas. Seems plausible at least one of them makes the stop (Though im not counting on it)

You just haven't experienced New Orleans without seeing Dr. John, so of these adds, that's top of the list. White Rabbits might be a fun day time show to pass some time. As far as Chrissie Hynde, we were flipping out about it until we listened to the material with JP. Kaskade is a nice add to the dance tent, especially considering a possible DeadMau5 collaboration.

I know a big part of it is the experience, but the line-up looks a bit weak when its split up like that. I really hope theres a couple more adds, so many tours fit perfectly with this. If its Drake headlining with Ozzy then thats a bit lame. But meh.
