I loved Rush as a kid, but sell me on why they fit as a coachella act. What musical style innovation can you credit them with that puts them in the company of past acts?

Well if they played they would probably headline. Therefor I would have to say no, because that would take a potential spot away from Outkast & Rammstien.

Sorry, I really don't like Rush, worst-vocals-ever...unless they performed 2112 only, then maybe...but "todays Tom Sawyer"...wtf.

Rush was there this year. Only they were called Coheed & Cambria.

Counter-signed. The last thing I want to do at Coachella is tailgate in the parking lot with some balding, fat middle-aged guy with a ponytail and Harley Davidson tanktop before jamming out to The Spirit Of Radio.

^^ see I'd actually love partying with that guy.

even more so if he didn't have a pony tail.

Malignant Narcissism and La Villa Strangiato (with Alex ranting)

If you enjoyed Les Claypool, how could you not enjoy his predecessor, Geddy Lee? His voice has toned done significantly recently.

Vocal criticism aside, see below for an instrumental:

How dare you!?

There's no way Geddy could hit those high notes these days.

I am all for Rammstein being at Coachella, but are you trying to say they would be a potential headliner??!?!

I can dream

Edit: I mean they headline festivals in Europe n shit. Doesnt mean they could do Coachella, but that would still be awesome

I can't say Rush headlining greatly excites me, but neither did Roger Waters.

Still I can't say 'yes'. Given the amount of money they would want to headline, I think the money could be better spent on someone else.

Really? This is what's in question....how innovative Rush was?

Are you incredibly young, or incredibly dense?

They have had a prolific touring and recording history. That is, they probably have made a great deal of $ from record royalties (especially 2112 and Moving Pictures), and still tour often enough to make a reasonable sum of money, hence not caring about how much Coachella would offer them. It's cliche to say, but they would not release new material and tour with this new material if they cared so much about money.
Just a thought..

Well if they didn't care about money then they wouldn't be auctioning off their best seats, charging $300 for package seats on their summer tour. Even a half decent seat for their current tour is $150. From what I gather they ask about $1.5-2m a show. I don't see why they would change that for Coachella.

In all I am just convinced they would be that great for Coachella.

I love Rush. They're one of my all time favorite bands. But I don't see them ever playing at Coachella. If it happens though, I will be there.

Are you impotent?

Are you retarded?

No, Roger Waters didn't excite me, it did (but not sexually). Rush headlining Coachella feels like I should be bringing my dad, that definitely isn't exciting in any way.

LiveNation is the promoter: they want the money, not Rush.

Ive honestly always considered Rushs fan base to be a bunch of defenders of a genre that somehow got big, thanks to the shitstorm of the 80s. Please, claim that douche is a good singerlol.

Can we just get Local H to play instead? This way we wouldn't need to worry about a Headliner slot being wasted on Rush (and I like Rush)

friendly forced to listen to a couple of their mid-seventies albums as a teenager and they are kinda like Zep. All the black magic, sorcery, etc lyrical subject matter. I mean, who wants to hear about "meadows" in songs? Seriously. :lips

Plus they are a bit too muso, elongated solos, for me nowadays.
