View Full Version : Who else is congested?

DeadSkin

This was my first time going all three days and car camping. I was like horribly congested last night when we left. Its prob. allergies, which I never knew I had, but was anyone else just as congested? I know its weird to ask...

sonnyboy11
04-19-2010, 01:43 PM
Not weird at all. A lot of people were experiencing it, including me. Mostly due to the pollen and dust kicked up by the desert winds. Take a couple of Dayquil and a nap. All will be well.

(note- it's that, or we were all submitted to some kind of bizarre government testing!)

I've been fucked up ever since Saturday. I woke up Sunday morning feeling like I had a very bad cold, popped some allergy medicine and it helped a little.

it's called the "coachella-flu".

people always ask why i don't camp. i have a lung disease and to hear healthy people having a hard time basically means i would be in the hospital if i ever tried it.

This is also when it hit me. Mine is sniffles and a sore throat. It hurts when I cough. I was assuming a mild strep but whatever it is, it's annoying. Definitely some sort of allergy thing because i'm not head or stomach sick.

My allergies went wild (dust, pollen) from Thursday until Saturday pretty much with my nose running non-stop. I'm still congested, with a gnarly sore throat, and a mild fever. Oh and yeah, mission accomplished, i had so much fun, hope everybody did as well!

Lots of people get the Coachella flu. I get it every fucking year and I don't even camp! I think it just has to do with the weather and all of the dust and everything else wrecking havoc on your immune system. I'm dealing with a lot of sinus congestion, itchy eyes, and sneezing like crazy. I learned years ago to ALWAYS take off of work the Tuesday after Coachella, cause I know I'll feel like shit.

for us campers the pounds of dirt/dust we inhaled was one of the main causes.

fuck that bullshit camping, 3 years too many.
my sinuses are fucked as well.
sooo sick of trying to sleep to peoples music blasting and them not shutting up.
and waking up 2 hours after trying to fall asleep but you cant (cause your neighbors wont shut up) because the sun is cooking you around 6:30 in the morning.

The husb and I both feel like shit today. He's sneezing SO much--the last run was 11 sneezes in a row. No joke. And his nose is running like a faucet, like literally. I've never seen water draining out of his nose like this. Icky. Poor guy. And my throat is still sore since Sunday morning and I'm all congested, too.

Damn you, Coachella fever. (didn't even camp, either, as others have mentioned)

I have a lot of experience with this.

The first Coachella I went to, I got a major sinus infection. I knew it was due to all the pollen, dust, junk you're breathing in through your nose everyday. This year I came prepared.

I got a neti pot, and saline spray that I used liberally at the fest. Basically, you just need to keep your nose clean, and everything will be okay. Mostly, I just used the saline nose spray often, and it keeps ur sinuses wet, so they will not crack and bleed. My nose this year was black w/ dust, just imagine what thats doing in your nose. My friends that camped with me were all healthy, and were coughing and sneezing constantly.

Also experiencing a lot of congestion, going through lozenges like they're candy. My roommate is a lot worse off though, he sounded like he was going to cough up a lung last night.

Did not expect this, but glad to see that it's a common thing because it means it's probably not strep or anything horrible like that :)

Airborne is a huge fraud, they settled a 23 million dollar class action suit (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=87937907) for making false claims a few years ago.

daxton

Anyone else dizzy?

I have been all week.

Mike Patton (FNM singer) kicked me on the head a week ago so I have to go to the doctor to check for a concussion ( for real, I still have a large bump). But if it's not, wonder if it's something going around?

I get vertigo really easily if my inner ear is blocked and I am a bit congested so hopefully it is just that. Or Coachella oogie boogie influenza.

a concussion usually causes way more symptoms than just dizziness.

Signs and symptoms of a concussion may include:

* Confusion
* Amnesia
* Headache
* Dizziness
* Ringing in the ears
* Nausea or vomiting
* Slurred speech
* Fatigue

Some symptoms of concussions are not apparent until hours or days later. They include:

* Memory or concentration problems
* Sensitivity to light and noise
* Sleep disturbances
* Irritability
* Depression

well, shit...yeah get checked out! thought it was just the dizziness.

i have lost my complete vestibular system due to some of the medications i have been on throughout my life, it's basically the system in the ears that allows one to balance. had to go through rehab and basically retrain my brain to use signals from my feet instead of relying on the inner ear. pain in the f'n ass, and i still have trouble walking in the dark...coachella is fun once the sun goes down, haha!

Neti really does help a lot, at least with the allergies, dust and other sinus irritation. Even if you don't have allergies, it's sort of gross how much dust and soot goes up your sinuses.

Even though I neti'ed every day, I still got sick. Been coughing nonstop for a week and now I'm hoarse. Finally went to the doc yesterday and got better drugs but they keep me from sleeping. At least I got a lot of reading done last night. Yet I'm SURE it's dust + smoke related and not real sickness. Grrrrr.

I thought the camping grounds smelled like cocaine. Maybe it was just me though..

Seriously, I finally went to the doctor on Monday evening, got some steroids, and 2 days later I feel like 90% recuperated. Stupid coughing.

I got a tattoo in San Diego the Tuesday after on my right side, and the artist had to keep stopping so I could hack up more dirty crap from my lungs. I'm really glad that is finished, my throat was starting to really hurt from it.

I'm just coughing up mucus 10 times a day now. But other than that I feel great. Kinda pissed that i'm still sick 2 weeks later though.
