I was thinking about it, Coachella is going to be really friggin expencive. Its acctually going to cripple my checkbook. Lets see, My ticket for 3 days is $250 + $35 Camping (I think its a 1 time fee) if not then $35 a day + Food lets say about $60.00 for the entire weekend... lets see just for my self that will come out to about...

$345.00 total for the entire weekend.
$415.00 total for the entire weekend if the camping tickets are per day.

This is way expensive, i guess its Ramen Noodles and Water for a few weeks huhh... Something has to be done with the ticket prices

You're gonna need to add a little more to the ticket price. That's before Ticketbastard has their way with you.

I would budget for $100 inside the festival for each day. Even if you avoid the $7 beers, there are lots of vendor booths with cool merch you may be interested in.

First pre sale ended last night... So you will be broke after buying your ticket on ticketmaster... And those figures are super conservative. I have almost $1,000 budgeted for this and I am not even staying in a hotel.

OK...since we're coming from the same area as me, I'd like to see your breakdown - especially if you're not staying in a hotel.

This sucks, $45 to camp! Uggh... Now i dont even know, Im not buying merch. I mean i just cant. I cant afford it. I never even figured in Ticketmaster raping charges, and then we have to take into account Gas. Which is expensive. HOLY SHIT!

If you are doing this do it right I say.... I have been saving money since November, I get my tax return in mid March so I'm covered.

$223 for a 3 day pass
$53 for camping(including tickbastard fees)
$400 to spend
$25 on gas
$100 on supplies like snacks, water etc for my campsite
$TBD on just other things I buy leading up to the festival, like I wanna getwalkie talkies for example.

My total:

$250 ticket
$53 camping (w/Ticketbastard fee)
$100-200 gas
$100 food (prebought for the most part)
$100 for merch
Total: around $650 I expect

Also, the $300 Oh Shit Fund for emergency use only

It's too bad I forgot how to speak English up there. Ugh.

For some reason, I save up big time for spending cash and then never spend more than $50 a day. My gas will be $60, at least. My lodgings will be about $150. If I counted all the pre-Coachella purchases, I'd probably have a higher tab.

Any idea which kind of walkie talkies you'll get? I wanna try some too.

So $217 is that 3 days? Is that PreSale? How much will a regular ticket be. I wish they would put that out so that I can plan out my money. I have my girlfriends birthday in there.

You know...if you were to work out the number of bands you are stoked on seeing...and divided the total price of your trip by THAT number...I bet it wouldn't seem as bad.

Exactly how much is each ticket for one day only. How bout a three day pass.

A single day ticket is $86 plus service fees which ends up over $100. A 3 day pass is $250 plus service fees which will end up under $300. I paid $223 for my 3 day pass with the special pre sale. It was $199 plus $12 in service fees, then $12 on shipping.

My total:

$250 ticket

$250 PLUS service fees.... So say $300 for that.

I thought about it, but till you figure in the cost of gas to get to philly and the cost of parking, it usually only comes out to usually within $15-20 savings. (I live like 5 min from LVI/ABE)

good lookin out though! thanks!

Yeeeeesh! Okay, so we're a bunch of musicians. Which equals uhh, an unbalanced fiduciary understanding- broke. So, we budgeted about $1500 for two of us and we LIVE in Cali. All three days, hotel (sharing with another couple and maybe more on the floor!) gas and food. Pre-packing food as well (have a place with a kitchen! Pre-booked our hotel (found a great deal on a one bedroom and two bedroom through the Marriott Palm Desert time share crap- but the place looks sweet and we know how to avoid the schpeel)

What have we forgotten, I already spent like $600 on sunscreen :)!

In my opinion I suppose through the years this event has gotten much more expensive. Yet to be fair to everyone because I was a student when I went to the first couple coachellas I was penny pinching it but survived. People can really survive on very minimal money. My Sophomore year in college which was the second coachella I spent 60 bucks plus tickets. I made some pbj sandwiches and carried water and I snacked here and there but bought a shirt. Make sure you room up with several friends. If you have a group you can really break down this cost and you can come.

The third day will increase your cost but you will survive.

I had no idea that the tickets were so expensive!! This is my first time going and I'd asked around and people were telling me they thought tickets were like $100 for all 3 days. Oh man so now I'm looking at
$100 for plane from Oakland, CA
$25 for car rental (3 friends pitching in also)
$60 food
$170 for 2-day ticket or possibly just $85 for 1-day ticket
and luckily my aunt is putting up me and my friends so we don't have to pay for hotel so thats still either
$360 if we get 2 day or
$270 for 1 day

$270 we can handle, but $360 is quite a bit for our budget.

Last year for 1 day pass it was $165 plus service fees, after service fees it was around $195. So I imagine with it being almost $100 more this time its going to end up being just under or over $300. And camping will be like 50ish after sharges.... I paid $223 for my 3 day, hallelujuah for pre sale......

There is no such thing as a 2 day pass being sold this year. Its single day or 3 day so that will be 200 bucks or so for 2 single day tickets

if you think about it, it's really worth the cost. i'm from new mexico and not many acts come here cause according to most tour schedules arizona is right next to texas. after going to coachella i don't have to worry about making the trip up to denver umpteen time to see anything. i'm set for almost the whole year.

average spending per year, $1500. worth every penny.

I just went to Ticketmaster and searched for Coachella.

3-day passes are $252. One day tickets are $86. Camping pass is $45.

None of those costs, however, include their service charges and other fees.

We can't buy them yet so we're only guessing on what the total costs will be but yes, $300 for camping and a 3-day ticket isn't going to happen.

Expensive? Try coming from Melbourne, Australia for only one night of the festival -

Air tickets for 2 – AU$4,400
Sunday Coachella Tickets for 2 bought after gig sold out – AU$1500.00
Accommodation @ Fantasy Springs Hotel for 2 (minimum 2 night booking) – AU$700.00

= US$5,370.00 - just to get there, get in the gate on the Sunday and have somewhere to sleep.

i think it is a steal. i would pay this much to see rage alone. i'm flying out from kc and think it is totally worth it. presale tickets were $66 a day! there are a lot of bands (rage, arcade fire, etc.) that i would easily pay $66 a piece to see without even thinking about it because the bands are so incredible.

when you think about how much you usually spend going to see a show, it really isn't that bad.
