Gunna be staying with my best friend that very recently moved out there. Sadly shes going to have work and school so its up to little ol' me to keep entertained in the day.

Suggestions are encouraged fellow boardies. It will be my first time in the city, what are some cant miss points of interests, maybe restaurants, shops etc. etc.

I'll be back in a bit with some actual suggestions. But I think I'll wait until the first wave of gay-themed quips crashes upon your shores.

Isn't san fran the gay mecca?
Surely you can take a step outside and find something to do :D

If it's nice one day you should go to Ike's Place and get the best sandwiches ever, and then eat them and hang out at Dolores Park. The only thing about Ike's is the wait can be really long and they are kind of expensive, but worth it.

I don't know the city very well but if it's your first time you have to do the cable car to the wharf thing. And wtf - is April just one big party for you?

There is also Golden Gate Park and Haight street if you want to just shop around.

Also there are some cool cement slides around the city. If you are interested in finding them I will find out what streets they are on, I can't remember but I have a friend who knows.

i've never been to the concrete slides.

They are very fun, but I recommend having other plans in the area as well because its only about a 30 minute max activity. The slides in the picture are the castro ones.

I'll be in Alameda for 4 days the week after the fest... I think I'll have to make my way into SF for some concrete slide action.

Egull

Well if you want to turn the slides into more then a short experience, I would suggest combining my suggestions by going to the slides for a little while walking about a mile to get an Ike's sandwich and taking them to Dolores Park. (Again, assuming it is nice out).
A combo that would look something like this:

Those ones suck! The good slides are here:
Seward St & Douglass St
San Francisco, CA 94114

Try to bring cardboard to slide on, but usually you can find some there.

Powerhouse. It's about a block and a half from Slim's. I'm sure I saw you're name written in piss last time I was in the "smoking" area (aka back room).

I love the Amoeba there (I think it's better than the LA one, but maybe just cuz it's in another city?), a sundae from Ghirardelli's, a trip to Alcatraz (only if you've never been b4...gotta do it once...). In the Castro, eat at Harvey's and just wander around any of the bars to find your taste in men.

sorry it's all typical touristy bullshit, but I've never lived there. I only go up for pride week and whenever IAMX tours there.

There is a FREE zipline from set up in Justin herman Plaza near the Embarcadero through the 18th (10am-7pm). I did it yesterday and it was awesome! They hand out wristbands at 10am for time slots...depending on how early you line up to get your wristband gives you flexibility in picking the time you want. We got there at 8am with about a 100 people in front of us and ended up with 3pm (1st available). It's rain or shine only shuts down if wind gets above 20. They ran out of wristbands by 11am...now this was on a weekend so, will probably be easier during the week, especially if raining and you don't mind getting wet. Have fun in the CITY!!!!

If it's nice one day you should go to Ike's Place and get the best sandwiches ever, and then eat them and hang out at Dolores Park. The only thing about Ike's is the wait can be really long and they are kind of expensive, but worth it.

Ike's finally got cited for the long lines that were forming outside that place and apparently upsetting the neighbors. They are losing thier license to sell at that spot and are searching for another spot in the neighborhood.

The sandwiches were OK but nothing is worth having to stand around with a bunch of douchebags wearing scarves on a hot day for half hour.

If you go after the lunch rush the wait is only like 20 minutes. And you must of ordered the wrong thing, because what I had, and all of the other people I went with had, was great. Also, it confuses me why so many people who dislike hipsters choose to live in a city where they are prominent. I feel if you broke down the city of San Francisco it would be:

35% hipster
25% anti-hipster (Just as bad as hipsters, because they are essentially hipsters who don't know that they are hipsters)
25% Crack heads/bums
15% other

J~$$$$

Do you not sense the irony of calling someone an anti-hipster, and admit that they're also hipsters? What would that make you? You've gotten yourself caught in a paradox, an ever expanding tautology.

Just say "hipsters"

I suggest calling in your Ike's order. It takes around an hour to stand in line and 2 hours if you call in but atleast you don't have to stand around with said douchebags.

But across of Dolores there's Bi-rite Creamery that I highly recommend. Their salted caramel ice cream is to dieee for.
And every second Tuesday, they have free showings of movies in the park.
It is in Castro so guard your loins.

I'm fairly new to SF but I go here, http://sf.funcheap.com/ for my fix.
