Hey folks,

Want to grab a cheap pay as you go phone when I come over (as I've had some shocking phone bills on my return in previous years). so...

1. Where is the best place (IE chain) to get a cheap handset (as long as it makes calls, I'm happy).

2. What network works best in LA and Indio?

3. Can I just buy one over the counter or do I need ID (as this seems to be very different depending on country)?

Thanks all.

Verizon seems to be one of the best when it comes to service at Coachella and nationally just from what people have said in the cell phone threads for the festival.

It looks like this one is on sale for $12. Not sure you can beat that.

1. I believe most large retailers (Target, Wal-Mart, etc) sell them. Decently sure that chain convenience stores (a la 7-11) also sell them.

2. Anything other than AT&T should do you fine. iPhone users ruin AT&T, so go with Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc.

3. Relatively sure that you don't need to show ID, but your passport should legally work for anything ID related, if necessary.

Cheers for that.
