This is for everyone.

Please learn from the madness that has become the Camping/Lodging section of the forums that it is YOUR responsibility to get YOUR car/tent camping pass before they are all gone.

This is the first year they have done this and all, but that is still hardly an excuse to not have purchased your pass on time.

Make no mistake, I am not pointing any fingers, just lending a couple words of advice because I was in the same situation a couple of days ago. But with diligence, kindness, respect, and a bit of luck, I found someone who was kind enough to share their spot with me. I was very fortunate, but I know that it shouldn't have even come to that.

I will NOT be in this boat come Coachella 2011. I hope you be won't either.

I heard camping tickets are going for $500+ on ebay and craigslist. Next year I'm buying ten and funding my trip and then some

I dont get why people are freaking out so much about not having a spot. Of course you can try to find a place to sleep if you have time, but its not worth going to through a panic over it. My first coachella I decided last minute to go and had no where to sleep all three nights (I even went by myself) and I managed just fine. I spent the first night at a friends camping spot, the second in my car parked ina neighborhood and that was it! Easy. People are just dramatic lol. Your right, if you were to lazy or cheap to buy the pass when you got your ticket then its your fault!

I hope your life comes to an end before then, no I'm not an asshole for saying that.. You're the asshole for thinking its cool to have people who just want to have a good weekend pay 500+ for a 55 dollar site. I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

Damn, I'm a local and totally for got about the rest areas! But, I have an even better suggestion...If you continue on the 10 and head further East just past Indio to Dillon Road, there's the truckstop, TravelCenters of America. Pay Showers, parking, fast food, and diner. I wouldn't go pitching a tent there, but you could catch some rest and clean up there, and sleep in your car. I'll look into it as far as legalities go. There's also the casinos I guess. I've seen motorhomes camped out there for a weekend. You could call and ask... Augustine Casino/ Fantasy Springs Casino/ or Spotlight Casino are the closest and they all have websites for info.

How many creeps in life, can actually say they've had someone tell them this??? LOL

capitalism baby, at it's finest. You're not an asshole for saying it, and because we live in a free market society I'm not an asshole for doing it either. Cheers.

This is the first year they have done this and all

Since you seem to be one of the few sensible people here, I'll ask you to clarify this...

In the past, a sold out campground meant you couldn't get in...period.

This year, a sold out campground means you can't park your car there, but you CAN get in.

Why is that such an issue for so many people? It seems to be an improvement to me. Why would you want to have parked your car there in years past if you couldn't even get into the campground. You may have to be more resourceful, but you CAN camp.

I simply don't understand why people think more flexibility is a bad thing.

To be quite honest/frank, I've never thought of it like that. Your misunderstanding is valid though. A lot of irrationality may just be the culprit.

The way I see it, the idea of camping being sold out followed by the ebay/craiglist scalping just seemed all too much for the common lurker (mainly the ones posting the "HELP PLZZZ OMG!" threads) and we (I was one) just became chickens without heads running around this board acting like we had no other options, which is/was not the case.

If you want your festival, go out there and make it happen.
