View Full Version : IF YOU HAD TO LOSE ONE ACT?

The line up this year kicks ass, no doubt about it - but if you had to lose an act you didn't care to have on the bill who would it be?

I say RHCP based on we could trade up nicely for what they must be chargin these days

At least out of that list of bands you posted. Otherwise, it would be RHCP... Unless they go over game film of their Lolla performance and remember that they made a seminal album called "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic"...

EDIT: Just noticed that RHCP WERE listed... Get rid of them and Nickel Creek then. Who cares, though. This lineup is so fukking sweet that now, my only worries are conflicts. I'm gonna have to prioritize even more so than other years.

My hope is that Bjork, JAMC, and Arctic Monkeys will all be on the main stage so I can just sit right there and rock out all night. Otherwise, I guess I'll be running around. Not sure why there's such a backlash against the Arctic Monkeys--they're really fun, and I love their lyrics.

My hopes for Friday..
Main:
Jarvis Cocker: 6-7:00
The Jesus and Mary Chain 7:30-8:30
Interpol: 9-10:00
Bjork: 10:30-midnight

Seeing those four back to back would be heaven. I imagine Peeping Tom and Arctic Monkeys will close out the Outdoor Theater. Dunno where to imagine Sonic Youth. I cannot find a way to realistically fit Faithless and DJ Shadow into a schedule that does not conflict, which is a shame. They should play on Saturday instead, because Tiesto is a pretty weak alternative to RHCP.

Personally I think they should replace RHCP with the Mars Volta. I can't believe they're not going to be there this year.

If Black Star headlined before I think the Roots by far deserve to headline.

Disagree on the replacement but, a repeat is kind of disapointing. Even Bjork again is disapointing. I love both bands but cmon. I can live with a Rage repeat because that's a reunion. I don't know if I'll be going this year.

The last good year was Black Star

Agreed. I think that is why I am disappointed with RHCP. I don't even dislike them. But they have been touring nonstop behind a crap album and played a huge festival in the US 8 months before they hit the stage at Coachella. It just seems... uninspired. I'd have been happier even with a group that I hate if it was an interesting booking.

I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With that being said and out of the way...they should not be headlining this year. They have headlined so many festivals other than Coachella. I have seen them 4 times live. Once when they headlined the 100th Anniversary of Las Vegas, and another when they headlined Weenie Roast 2006! They are way too accessible. Smashing Pumpkins needed to be there this year. This is a huge let down to me that it didn't happen again and it honestly makes me lose a little respect for Smashing Pumpkins since there has been SO much hype on them these past few years, and now they are ACTUALLY getting back together and coming out with an album. Although this is a bummer, Rage Against The Machine playing Coachella takes away all negative feelings I could potentially have toward the 2007 lineup. Hopefully there will be another worthwhile band to watch during RHCP since I am RHCPed out!

These guys sound very good (sound like great musicians), and i'm not much into folk or country, but hey a nice chill-out vibe to start the day on Sunday.. but still this is really weird that these guys are placed inbetween acts like Evil Nine and Girl Talk.

I could do without RHCP, but that will give me some time to check out a great underclass headliner or boogy my azz off in the sahara tent.. im not that dissapointed after a line up like this.. What the fudge happend to Erol, he was on the Sat. line up like 2 hours ago.. boo hoo.

I saw the Chili Peppers in '91 and they didn't impress me then...I can't imagine 16 years have helped.

On the other hand, I saw Crowded House at a festival the same year, and they were one of the most pleasant surprises. Just damn fun.

I love Fountains Of Wayne dearly, but they don't seem like an exciting live band, based on their special on Rave HD. I'd rather see them in a small club.

The RHCP's used to be fun to watch, but they've gotten boring lately. I saw them on that stadium arcadium tour, and I was bored and yet pissed off that I wasted so much money buying tickets. They have so many good live songs, and yet they play so many ballads. I know they got some new fans who pretty much have no idea they used to play kickass exciting songs. Now, pretty much nothing from Mother's Milk and before, and a few from BSSM. Personally, I love Mother's Milk, lots of great high-energy songs. Now, (yawn) a retread of a Tom Petty song is the only song that kinda rocks, and almost everything else is either slow or somewhat slow. Maybe they are afraid they'll break a hip or fall down but can't get up...

Arrgh!!! You're probably right - I also thought about that, I might have to make a "game-time" decision. When something like this happens, when there is a big conflict, I usually boil it down to: OK, do they tour often; are they from this country, is this a reunuion tour, that sort of thing. Even if I like a band more, but really want to see another - if that other is, (say, they're from England and don't tour that often) I will go watch them.

I am determined to be front row for Arctic Monkeys. )Please, I beg of you, don't call the "the Monkeys". Call them AM if your fingers feel like doing less typing.) The fact that I don't see many other bands that keep my interest as much as Arctic Monkeys makes this more plausible. I have seen them 6 times since 2005 and need to be front row when they play stuff from their new record. I'm a fan girl in some respects for the bassist as well.

i have a question....are all the chili pepper haters saying they dont want them bc they have seen them enough..if thats the case then its understandable...i have never seen them so one of the main reasons why im going is for them...i personally think they make great music especially compared to all the crappy rock nowadays like nickelback etc...

Where was the Arctic Monkeys on this list? They are the only act im going to conciously try and avoid.
So I choose my next hated act, Jacks Mannequin. What are they doing on the bill? No one is going to be at thier set, I almost feel bad for them. Then again, I remember how terrible they are, so I dont really.
However, I am fuckin stoked to see the Chilis. I dont care what anyone else says. Im just hoping they play a shitload of stuff from Blood Sugar Sex Magik and earlier... they wont. But I can still hope.
And why get rid of Willie Nelson? Common. I dont like his music, but its Willie Nelson! I will still be checking him out.

i could go without lupe fiasco. enough with the (c)rap already. with kanye west last year, what a total joke.

and let me guess. you probably hate black people too?

yeah, there is a lot of horrible rap on the airwaves but there are some phenomenal hip hop artist out there. stop watching MTV and discover the underground.

Coachella is not just for hipsters and "rock" music.

I'd vote to have Fountains of Wayne off the bill!

No love for Fountains of Wayne?!? Great pop songs and rather clever lyrically (Get past 'Stacy's Mom' already!). There must be some Diebold action going on here---all those votes must have been for Jack's Mannequin. They're not "emo", it's "imo" as in immolate....bored just thinking about them.

If they play in near proximity of 60,000 people and no one hears them, will they make a sound?
