Step 1: Empty the contents of your purse/man purse/fannypack/backpack/messenger bag/briefcase/wallet/pockets/whatever.

Step 2: Take a picture.

Step 3: Show me your picture.

Water bottle, new issues of Rolling Stone and Esquire, Playbill from taking my daughter to see The Fantasticks for her birthday, street maps of Manhattan and Brooklyn (despite growing up here I still find myself routinely going out to some corner of the city I'm unfamiliar with), pens, notebooks, digital voice recorder, iPod, Burt's Bees, MetroNorth Hudson Line schedule (I head up the Hudson to pick up/drop off my daughter during her visits), copy of Please Kill Me (research), copy of 33 1/3 book about Big Star's Radio City (I'd been meaning to read it, and sadly it took Alex Chilton's death to make it happen). Other than a Ricola wrapper and an empty envelope, that just about covers it.

an aunt gave me my brown bag as a birthday gift. didn't have the heart to tell her that it resembled the man purse in The Hangover.

its contents: hand sanitizer, mini Motrin bottle, Altoids, some clicker that i have to hold onto for this week only, cleaning cloth for my spectacles, purse, clean napkins from the cafeteria (the one thing i'm guilty of hoarding!), two pencils, one black ink pen, pink highlighter, old school RAZR phone, red Zune w/ headphones, keys.

4. Old 3rd gen 15gb iPod.
5. Tiny Purell hand sanitizer.
6. Old bus routes.
7. Mini mag light.
8. A whistle/compass/thermometer thing.
9. Chap-stick (that I used last year at Coachella, haha).

What's your wrist tattoo of and why do you have to cover it at work?

Shoving a pile of coupons in my purse is my answer to clipping and losing them.

It's an embellished infinity symbol on the inside of my left wrist. I don't HAVE to cover it at work, but I'm an interior designer and have projects with government agencies, the NC Governor's Mansion, and retirement communities. I find that it's easier to cover it up with this audience than deal with the looks. Gotta love old southerners...

The CD is a mix someone made for me. I like the Altoids quite a bit. They last longer than the regular ones (both in taste and in how long the box lasts me) and they are texturally different. They're more like a Smint.

This is why I don't like the idea of carrying a purse, half that stuff doesn't need to be with you at all times, 2 different packs of gum? old movie stubs/concert tickets? Gorillaz, Joanna Newsom, and Of Montreal.
