Prototypical deconstructionist blather. Binary structures are a lie, textual representation both produces and invites a perpetual spiral of potentiality, blah blah blah and so forth.

If rasooli hadn't made a point of announcing his unsubstantial review of FlyLo and dislike for Caspa in three separate threads, I wouldn't have said anything. And yes it is the internet, so it's a free zone to be as moronic, pedantic, and judgmental as one wants.

I think "moronic" is much more phonetically pleasing than the meaning should allow. Pedantic is unoffensive to me and at times even pleasantly cheerful in a light-on-the-feet sort of way, but it seems like a word that should have a more potent meaning or involve some sort of cautious and arrhythmic physical movement. She moved pedantically toward the box, hesitating as she deliberated whether or not she should open it. Gingerly peeling back the least objectionable portion of thin, waxy cardboard ostensible among the narrow slats of light peeking in through the cracks in the cabin's walls, she braced herself for what was coming. "Hello," came a tiny voice from inside the box.

I'll agree on "judgmental," though. Saying it feels like you're chewing too much gum in not that great a flavor.

My wife says it is Robyn Pecknold (or at least that's what the staff said)... She would probably be happy if it was J Tillman considering he's the only decent member of that band... Instead she's pretty furious... If it's Tillman, she'll be happy.

Tonight's Dirty Projector's show at the Brookdale Lodge was pretty sweet. It was the first time the room with the creek had been used as a music venue. Very cool ambiance, there's the babbling of the brook, numerous colored lighting schemes and several different tiers for the attendees to view the show from. DP sounded great, as did J.Tillman.

I went saturday, mary anne and mt. kimbie were dope.

i'm on the fence about the new venue... it's a cool location and the sound is great, but the layout is a little strange.

the room upstairs is about the size, or smaller than, mighty's side room, except it's just a room. one door, no windows, dj booth... mighty has that balcony which makes the room bigger, this is literally just a tiny room.

the decor is a little strange too... I get that it's supposed to be an unfinished warehouse, but it's like, an intentionally unfinished warehouse is still an unfinished warehouse. also, to get to the smoking area you have to walk through the art gallery, which is fully illuminated. i feel like making club kids stare at one another under bright white light is kind of a faux pas, that's just me though.

the sound is great though, and they have huge projectors putting visuals on the walls. i think it'll be great for a certain kind of party, and new venues with good sound are always a positive thing.

nisus is good, sleazemore sucks

i'm hoping v-mirror doesn't start until midnight... doors are at 9, nisus will probably play for an hour or an hour and a half (he played like 4 hours opening for boyz noise a few months ago) and then teenage bad girl. vitalic's show is about an hour, maybe a little more... i can't imagine he'll be done before 1 or so.

http://vivalahiphop.com/ I found this blog sometime back. Its mostly hip hop shows and like events. Hawthorne is signed to stones throw records (hip hop label), he a hip hop producer, DJ and rapper....should I continue? I know you're familiar with this artist correct?

I dont expect a straight hip hop show like Zion-I, or Del, but I see the hip hop connection one can draw with an artist such as Hawthorne.

Bryan - my intent wasn't to start a fight, it just seemed like an odd addition to a pretty standard hip hop list. I am familiar with Mayer Hawthorne, but see him as more of a soul artist, which I don't always think aligns itself that closely with hip-hop, though I can see the connection too.

is anyone going to the Dungen show tonite? my friend Josh (Deakin from AC) just sent me a long text saying that i must go see the opener - The Entrance Band. he went to HS with their guitarist and was raving about him. the only band i've ever heard him rave on about like this before was CAN.

more descriptors: "one of the best psych rock bands i have ever seen" "the bass player dances like a snake and plays amazing bass" "you absolutely, positively will not regret it"

Yeah, I basically had to take September off from shows because of all the October shows that I had already bought tickets for. You really have to pick and choose your moments, which is not a bad thing.

And if you take advantage of the free shows you could stay pretty busy with live music.

According to Justin Martin's twitter, if you get there early to the Dirtybird party tonight there is a free vodka bar. Though be warned: I had arguably TOO much fun at the last one because of a free vodka bar.

How early is "early"? I was going to skip the dirtybird thing altogether, but that was before mention of free vodka.

Last time it was from 9-10. And just to warn everyone, what ends up happening with the "show up by 11 and get in free" bit is that everyone shows up at 10:45 and there is a long wait outside and many people don't actually end up getting "in" before 11, and then they have to pay.

Cheap weezer presale tics are gone. I'm hoping there will be more cheap tickets for regular onsale. Has anybody been to nob hill masonic center before? Is there a floor or is it all seated?

Grum is playing 525 Howard on 10/13

10/23 according to his myspace. He was pretty damn good when he opened up for The Twelves earlier this year.

All seated. I guess it's possible that they could remove the seats, but I've never seen that.

Hmm, Erika and I might be hard pressed to get to the Mezzanine before 10. It is for a good cause though.

A note regarding RSVP. last time we RSVP'd through Dirtybird, received a confirmation email and then werent on the list. Luckily I was able to get in by showing them my confirmation email on my iPhone. This time I went ahead and RSVP'd through Going.
