Hi Drew!
I actually just put another 100 tickets available on-line, but we'll be selling
them at the door for $20.

10P-12A MARC ROMBOY
12A-2A TWELVES
2A-CLOSE JOHN TEJADA

- putting this in The Twelves thread too.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Start with Fake Can Be Just As Good, move on to In Expression of the Inexpressible, then Melody. Don't get me wrong, Melody is good, it's just not the best.

Edited: I take it back, Melody is always way better than I remember until I listen to it again. Listen to all three anyway :)

back to this....i listened to Melody and Fake. i really, really like them both but think i like Fake a bit better (more punk-y). man, these guys sure come in 32 flavors, eh. i'm buying a tic at the box office on Sunday. thx for the intro.

GORILLAZ! headlining day 2 of our SUBSONIC/LIVE105 HALLOWEEN PARTY on 10/30.... Day 1 is 10/29 and TBA

Gorillaz on 10/30 is common knowledge yes, but not packaged as a part of the Spookfest(s). is is about time to start guessing at who will be at either show. Im no good at that game. The way it's worded makes it seems like a few bands will be part of the Gorillaz show. It'd be cool if they did a discounted deal if you bought tickets for both nights.

Now Oracle Arena makes more sense. I can't believe I didn't put two and two together.

Hmmm this is quite intriguing. So looks like spookfest isn't going to be at the cow palace anymore (seems pretty obvious) and has now become two days. Maybe they'll do it like Treasure Island and split one day be more electronic heavy (the 29th) and then have the other day be more alternative rock oriented with Gorillaz headlining? It will be interesting to see what happens.

I like the theory, though SUBSONIC is the EDM show of the station. Gorillaz remixes have been a part of the show since they've come out. Lets not forget that this was referred to as the "rave that my friends that 'dont go to raves' went to." If this turned into a Subsonic and SOUNDCHECK Halloween Spookfest that could open up the range of bands and performers that could be involved.

They've also been known to throw shows promoted under the one "brand/banner" in different cities. Remember their BFD pre-party at Mezzanine and then BFD at the Shoreline? And back in December, they threw like a weeks worth of shows in SF, San Jose leading up to the big concert in Oakland at Oracle at the end of the week, so a Spookfest in SF/Cow Palace AND the Gorillaz/Oracle is a possibility, though seems highly unlikely. In addition to the cow palace/POP issues, two big shows in two large arena venues seems like a monstrous and costly task.

brought up in the other Gorillaz thread, but Ill post here too. I just read this on my facebook wall from Del's page...

i been getting a lot of hits about me and the up coming us and uk Gorillaz tours. as of right now we are no longer going to be on the tour due to budget issues. it is out of our control at this point so if you really want to see Del on tour with them, hit them directly and let them know YOU WANT DEL! :) thanks for all the support! i got the best fans around no doubt

I'd doubt they get DEL for this tour. That being said, Live 105/Subsonic have been playing Deltron for years and Clint Eastwood gets regular play on the station. It'd be pretty epic if they got Del or Deltron for Spookfest WITH the Gorillaz.

Hey Everybody, I'm new to the area and wanted to drop in and say hello! My name is Al. I've been lurking on this board for a couple months since I moved to the Bay Area and figured I would come clean. You guys seem like a good bunch of people, and you are all very informative. I used to check sites like Pollstar for shows, but since theres like 35 pages of shows on Pollstar, I come here and make my life alot easier. So thanks for being you!

I used to post on this board back when I went to Coachella in 2004 and 2005, but I can't seem to find my old login. Anyways, I am a big music festival fan, having been to Bonnaroo x3, Chella x2, Lolla, Vegoose, Sasquatch, Langerado, etc.

I feel like I am about to go broke from all the shows out here. Its crazy how much stuff is going on in the Bay Area. I already have tickets for Chemical Bros, Flaming Lips, and Of Montreal, but I will be picking up tix for the Gorillaz and Saturday at Outside Lands! Good times ahead.

Anyways, my wife and I moved from Atlanta, after a 14 month stint in Portland, and I think that we finally found our resting spot. Its great out here and I look forward to joining in on some activities and enjoying the good life that San Fran has to offer.

In an unrelated question, are there shows at the Greek all year long? I went to see Pavement there, and the show was great, but the venue was amazing. I wonder if a band like Arcade Fire would play there on their next tour. I would think that would be a pretty special experience.

Now that I am on the west coast, I am definitely in for Coachella 2011 - hopefully we will get a Daft Punk Tron show.

GeezrRckr
08-04-2010, 09:53 AM

dorkfish

Well, your odds of having a bad night are increased when you attend a Slim's show.

To be more specific, I've had some good nights at Slim's, but I've also been to a lot of shows that were sub-par to awful, and I can't blame the artists more than I can the venue, soundsystem and crowd.

Whereas, I can't really think of a bad time that I've ever had at Great American.

stoked on the Deerhunter dates! As for the early line-ups at Slim's, my guess is that its for ALL AGES shows. I've seen the same thing at the Rickshaw Stop. The kids pretty much just want to get out of the house. But kids are also more aggressive in getting those rail spots for their beloved indie/punk/ska bands.

08-05-2010, 03:32 PM
We're not saying every show there sucks. There is just a higher likelihood. If it's not a bad crowd, then it's the awful sound, or the polls blocking your view of the stage (which you can't see anyway unless you're close or tall since it's so low), or the toilets overflowing right out of the bathrooms and onto the main floor, or the weak drinks, or... [etc].

I still go to shows there sometimes I just consider that it might suck. The last show I saw there that didn't suck was Secret Chiefs 3 / Sleepytime.

Underworld at HARD in Los Angeles for the Haunted Mansion.

Underworld will be AC Slater, A-Trak, Bloody Beetroots, Boys Noize, Brodinski, Burns, Busy P, Calvin Harris (DJ Set), Crookers, Erol Alkan, Fake Blood, Jack Beats, L-Vis 1990, Mr. Oizo, Nero, Rusko, Sebastian, SBTRKT and more.

RETARDED LINEUP if true...

Id be stoked if SPOOKFEST got half that.

EDIT: wonder if that would make it a "live" Bloody Beetroots set since its not labeled 'dj set'....and I hope that Erol and Boys Noize get separate sets. If BB isn't the second headliner.....who is it.....

Well Live 105 said that the Gorilaz are headlining day 2 of the Subsonic Halloween party (Spookfest) show at the Oracle on the 30th. I'm anticipating a separate more "traditional spookfest" festival/massive similar to last years.

ATTENTION.

Forza showed me this link for a Underworld show listing in SF, Labor Day weekend.

http://www.bandsintown.com/Underworld

I dismissed it because it's just like, a show listing site, there is nothing on Underworld's site, nothing on the club's site, in fact the only other mention of Underworld, that address and that date is

(NOTE the below URL is safe for work unless your work doesn't like you looking at muscular guys in underwear).

http://www.guspresents.com/underworld/

So I am thinking, okay, this is NOT underworld, this is a club night. It's a PANTSLESS club night. What does that have to do with underworld. I am pretty sure there is a club night called underworld there.

Plus I have not heard of live music at club 525 / Club NV in basically forever.

But then today I found out Mark Farina is playing there the previous Saturday
( http://djmarkfarina.net/page9/page9.html )

Please help more information needed. I am 99% sure this is not actually underworld but people are giving me doubts. :)

The food is not worth the extra price, if that's what you meant specifically. But if it's a non-seated show and is a band you'd like to sit for, it's nice. Especially if you're with friends and show up early enough to get seated together. In our dotcom baller days we used to always get dinner tickets to have the table for drinks + hanging out during openers, then move down to the floor for the main act.

I have a question for those of you who saw Delorean earlier this year. (A show for which I had a ticket and completely forgot about until the next day).

Did they play songs from the Ayrton Senna EP?

Their 45 minute headlining set in Seattle included Seasun for sure and maybe one other song from the EP.

I have a job interview on Thursday morning, so I can't guarantee attendance, but if I'm cocky, I'll be there.

I've never bought a dinner ticket. I did once get to the show early and sit up at the balcony and eat dinner. the food was delicious. still not sure if would buy a dinner ticket. what is the price difference?

are you being serious or sarcastic? i've only heard their live sets...which are fine, but they really need some new (good) jams. i do admit to being fascinated with their DIY roundabout rig they use for their live shows. pretty unique.

Blood Red Shoes at Rickshaw on 10/15!

I'm in, ticket purchased. I still have not listened to more than a few tracks, but my friend who has really similar tastes to mine has been raving about them for years and I missed them at glasto.

9/24 - Flying Lotus @ Mezzanine

I'm considering this at well except I can't decide whether I really like flylo or not.
PS, that is my birthday weekend (I get a whole weekend) so I might opt to be a fucking mess for 3 whole days.

I haven't decided yet what's happening for birthday (which is unfortunately on a Sunday). Always a ton of stuff that weekend due to Folsom street & close proximity to Love Parade & hardly strictly whatever the following weekend.

I actually like them a lot. There are just so many shows this fall, far more than I'd end up following through on attending. Trying to see a few acts I've never seen before. :)
