Any idea if Scuba is live or a DJ set?

Ross1492

Has Scuba ever done a live set? In the past he's DJ'd as "SCB" or "SCB v. Scuba" but I've never heard anything about a live set.

Ok I have tried searching everywhere to no avail so I figure this best posted in this thread. Anybody know of any hardstyle shows coming up? Or even clubs that have a hardstyle night or something of the sort? Ever since EDC I've been on a hardstyle kick but cannot seem to find anything in the city or nearby. Thanks for any direction!

yeah I think it was. they charge for mail delivery and not for print at home. which actually makes sense, but I prefer ticketmaster's backwards way. if they still do it that way.

Sorry to ask something that has inevitably been answered many times over, but I just moved to the Richmond and I want to buy tickets to Aimee Mann at the Fillmore in September. If I buy from the box office at the Fillmore (which appears to be open 10-3 on Sundays), what service charges am I avoiding? The price listed is $35 + $12 of surcharges on Live Nation. Thanks!

shakermaker113

I'd be surprised if it went very much later than 11. The show starts at 8, there's one opener, and I'm pretty sure Squarepusher's show will be less than 2 hours. The Ufabulum part is less than one hour, guess it depends on how much other material he does. Was guessing about 1.5 hours.

This will not be an issue. All we need is one person's floor tic to make it work...or if my friend is working that night.

Anyone going to see Shearwater at BOTH tomorrow night. If you haven't yet seen this band live, all I can say is that you will most definitely be thanking me for the pumping. This is one of those bands that takes on a whole 'nother life in the live setting.

Goodness did I find this thread way too late:

Is anyone gonna do one of the Bob Dylan/Mark Knopfler shows at Bill Graham? Presale is now. I absolutely must go but cannot talk any of my friends into attending due to price, Bob Dylan being ancient, and them not knowing who Mark Knopfler is. It's 60 plus fees for main floor. Not bad to see two legends on stage at the same time.

David Byrne and St. Vincent would be sweet, but the prices are kind of absurd. Has anyone been to this venue? Can you justify 90 dollars for lodge, 80 for mezzanine, 70 for balcony? That just sounds ridiculous. I can see pictures on Yelp but it doesn't give me this great idea of proximity. How would this theater compare size-wise to something like the Greek or Saratoga Mountain Winery?

And finally, how are shows at the HP Pavilion? Peter Gabriel and Leonard Cohen are two more that I am likely not going to be able to talk anyone into going to with me. Is there a seating area that I should avoid like the plague? PG is surprisingly expensive and he's not super relevant, so I'm wondering if I should just hit up scalpers when the event gets closer. Van Halen at HP had tickets going under face value on StubHub within days beforehand. Even though they were playing in Oakland soon after, their reunion was a big deal and they're way more famous than PG (especially in the US). Leonard Cohen prices seem a little more reasonable.

Holy shit this message was long. Appreciate the help, gang.

Dylan's cheaper. It's 60 + fees for floor standing. Vincent and Byrne is 70 + 20 fees for sitting as far away as you can possibly get. I just didn't know how far away that would be in this particular theater. It sounds like it's not worth it.

I've been maybe 6 times, and the only seats I wouldn't sit in are the REALLY close ones stage right, because the angle is so severe. The GA ones in the back are perfectly enjoyable - comparable to being in the seats at Fox Oakland or something like that. It's a fun, if subdued, atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out for the right artist.

Although not affiliated with the SF Zoo any longer, I am posting this to help them/a friend out. This could be fun, esp with it being in the Primate center.

Friday, August 17, 2012
7 – 11 p.m.
Primate Discovery Center

Bring your party animals to meet our party animals for drinks and dancing during Noc’tails, the newest nightlife event at the San Francisco Zoo. Noc’tails is a 21+ silent disco party that will get you moving to the primal beat at our Primate Discovery Center.

Upon arrival, you’ll receive a set of headphones that will wirelessly connect you to two live DJs spinning tunes at the Zoo thanks to silent disco powered by Silent Storm Sound System. From there, you’re in control of which DJ you want to dance the night away to while the rest of the Zoo sleeps soundly. Also, you’ll have a chance to meet some of the Zoo’s incredible Primate Keepers, and chat with them about our lemurs, squirrel monkeys, francois langurs, aye-ayes and more. Plus, there will be delicious treats to nom down on if your groove needs recharging.

Gates open at 7 p.m. Noc’tails ends at 11 p.m., animal areas open until 9 p.m. and last call for alcohol is at 10:30 p.m.

Prices:
General Admission - $25
Zoo Members - $20
At the door - $30 for General / $25 for SFZS Members
- Price includes headphones for the evening and a signature drink (noc'tail)

If being a VIP is more your style, check out the exclusive Noc’tails VIP experience.
VIP Admission - $75
VIP Zoo Member - $65
Early admission at 6 p.m.
- Access to the exclusive Noc’tails Lounge where beverages and snacks are included
- Special Aye-aye tours until 8 p.m.

All prices include Zoo admission. Please note that parking is included in the cost for Noc’Tails.

Im curious about New Order, but they are currently sucking live arent they?

The zoo thing looks cool! That's a pretty busy weekend for me, or else I'd probably check it out.

I saw New Order at Sonar last month, and quite honestly, they weren't that great. Bernard just sounds old and tired. Salah - you remember how unremarkable he was with Bad Lieutenant, right? But the rest of the band sounded OK. It was fun to hear those songs live, but I definitely don't need another dose.

Sorry, Osunlade. Acid House takes precedence here.

I am going to the L.I.E.S. showcase, but am going to at least drop in on ^^ this first. I guess that will probably mean leaving before DJ Pierre is on, which is probably a stupid move on my part. Freeform vs. Dubalicious posts set times in advance though, so we'll see.

Ugh, that is great double dip. I originally was going to come up for the L.I.E.S. showcase but I prefer me some Steve Summers, so LA date it is. Bunker showcase is looking likely though!

chiapet
07-31-2012, 12:38 PM
To be clear, I don't think it's going to be possible to really double dip. I'm going to the DJ Pierre show early because a friend is a resident for that club night. Suspect headliners will be on at a similar time. (The DJ Pierre show is listed to end at 3AM, the L.I.E.S. showcase at 4AM).

I'm definitely doing Bunker part 2 and hopefully dragging some more friends to it as they're in town for Outside Lands and looking for "something different."

Yea, Squarepusher ending before 11 was unexpected. Had really hoped he would play more like 2 hours. Still a good show though... I think that was the least good of his sets I've seen this year, and yet I'll still be thinking about it for days... :)

Thanks, yeah, I noticed that looking through the artists. I was surprised to find plenty of artists without other west coast dates when they could probably tour clubs and tear it up... looking forward to more shows because dB is just silly good this year (like every year).

Dbridge and Om Unit played amazing sets at the warehouse party, but acoustics, volume control, and a proper system were lacking. Mimosa played too. And while that was the loudest set of the night, it sounded like shit on the system they had. I'm coming to you late, but my friend is trying to host a screening of "Don't Think" by The Chemical Brothers on September 2nd. It looks like he has overestimated a bit, and he's desperate for attendees. So if you have nothing to do over Labor Day weekend and enjoy The Chemical Brothers, please help my buddy out.

The event page can be found here: http://www.tugg.com/events/1244

People involved are die hard fans, and just trying to recreate that "live feel" while The Chemical Brothers aren't touring. He's hinted about an after party, should be good times.

Last year for bassnectar I parked on polk near Turk. Wasn't that hard to find and in a decent neighborhood.

Also http://www.sfmta.com/cms/pgar/13469.html for parking garages

Where's a good place to park nearish to Bill Graham?

I always park in the underground garage at the civic center.

$5 guestlist if you RSVP and show up by 11. Temple is incredible, go to Ritual some time, especially if they're running both levels.

That's what I'm thinking too. Didn't the previous Fox show not sell out?

Oops, sorry, Edward, technically I'm in the wrong thread. The Uptown in Oakland. It's a bar with a venue space in the back. A couple of blocks away from the Fox. It sounds like there are about a half dozen of us planning to go. We listened to the opening band at record club this week, too, liked it a lot.

Anyone going to the FREE Dr. Dog show tomorrow at the Marina Green for the America's Cup? If so, I'll be coming from Dublin/Pleasanton on BART, what would be the best way to get there? I'm guessing traffic is going to be a pain. I didn't hear about this show until yesterday so I'll probably be flying solo. I missed them at Outside Lands for a good spot for Sigur Ros so I need to make up for it.

If I do anything that night, it would be Gui. Damian was pretty boring the last times I've seen him.
