This. I hope to god they put it on 10/30, grab all the good HARD acts, and call it a night.

heard that Spookfest is moving to The Craneway Pavilion (http://www.craneway.com/) in Richmond this year. Looks like a great venue, too bad its in Richmond.

I have been to a Yelp party at Craneway. Good venue Not sure how good the sound would be. If Blue and Gold Fleet is doing a ferry service you can go from SF to the venue. If you have to drive and park there, have fun getting killed.

Thursday, August 11 at 9:00pm - August 12 at 2:00am

San Francisco, CA

What venue is this?

It's Icon... I haven't been there but there are lots of events there - the Housepitality ones namely

I went to a rave in the craneway once. they charged for parking i think, which is worth it, considering where it's located. The venue was fine, they have a huge curtain to split it in half for two stages which knocked down noise bleed.

shpongle live. bow chicka wow wow: leave shpongle, catch the bart, find a club... how that doesn't sound like a good night is beyond me. Can't wait.

Why? You know there's going to be a number of excellent other events going on that night at clubs in the city that won't get roaring til midnight or later. A handful of the artists booked for HHM are likely coming through SF.

If this is your plan, I'm in.

Hmm...not so sure about that. Let's just hope that advance tix + them (hopefully) running a club night at 1015 will help prove your theory right. SBTRKT has now hit the "mainstream" with him being highlighted on NPR and the like recently. I bet it sells out pretty quickly.

Hrmm... so the Jamie Jones show at Vessel (aug 25) is supposedly free before 11PM with RSVP... I might give that a try and hope the crowd is not awful. Their RSVP page is broken but while I was there I noticed this:

Here's the program for the Nightlife event at the Academy this Thurs (Eskmo/Best Coast show).

http://www.calacademy.org/events/nightlife/

Since it starts so damn early (Eskmo goes on at 7:30), I wrote them asking about food and this is their reply:

We will have festival food like popcorn, cotton candy and hot dogs. However, the Academy Café, the moss room and a food station provided by our bar will be open too with more substanstial dinner options so you should be fine with dinner food as well.

I'm going to try to grab something before hand since their isn't that great (esp at their prices). If anyone wants to meet up at Park Chow beforehand, let me know.

Anyway, I don't think that is going to be reflective of his show at all.

Tolfrey/Geddes is the real draw for me on the Barem night, especially if they play the loft - can't get enough of that space.

Heidi - don't forget Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts on the same night as Onur Ozer - crowd and atmosphere will be miles better

9/17 - Tevo Howard @ AYLI (underground)

10/8 - Tiger and Woods @ AYLI (underground) - per TW facebook - heard they were having visa troubles but this date was only just added, so I'm thinking those have been resolved. Cracking booking!

No. Novelty is where the identity is predicated on a running gag.
A novelty account CAN be an alias but an alias isnt automatically a novelty.

Example: when I had that EmtGregwithaTwix account, that was both. An alias that pretended to shill for a candy company.

Are you suggesting that "they" is merely one production company that decided to book all of these widely different artists in different venues just to fuck with us?

seitron
08-15-2011, 12:25 PM
'They' might be different production companies, but I'm assuming that a production company would check what other productions are happening in a city before choosing a date. Then again, we might like all those acts but there isn't a huge crossover between fans besides this board.

Anyways, I need some fucking spookfest details so I can plan out my halloween weekend.

knotted_donuts

Yes. It's clearly a conspiracy.

No. Not at all. But the fact that these shows are still being announced leaves me to wonder if the booking agents are just oblivious to the fact that it's already a stacked night, or if they're vying for their artist's popularity over others. It's also worth paying a bit of mind to the likelihood that people interested in the general genre might have already bought tickets to one of the other events before the late announcement.

I think it's doable. I'd imagine that Trentemoller will end ~12:00-12:30. The only trouble you might run across is having to wait in line at Vessel....it's one of those clubs that likes to play up the exclusivity bullshit by having a line. It also just straight up might be packed because it's Halloween weekend.

Must find Tickets to this. Anyone know where?

Embarrassed to say I've never heard of "The Sound Factory". Sad to see this falls on the same night as Little Dragon and Tiger and Woods. Ugh.

Oh well, nice problem to have I suppose.

I think fikus was at the Factory for something on NYE and liked the actual venue (I'm sure he'll speak up if I'm mis-remembering). But that place books some really, really awful shows...

Sweet. I haven't been to the Stork Club yet.

That makes two of us.

Trentemoller won't be over by midnight - the Fillmore has been *starting* headliners around midnight. Was expecting it to go until 1. I'm still going to try to hit up Vessel after [whatever show I end up doing..]

I haven't seen any openers for Trentemoller yet, but I suppose there's still a lot of time for that. The ticket calls for 8pm doors, show at 9.

'Bout what time do things usually start at Vessel?

guedita

Vessel runs from 10 - 2, I'd expect an opener, then Shit Robot, then Special Disco version on at about 12:30.

Awesome, thanks!

As for The Rapture, I missed 'em at Coachella and haven't had a chance to see them since! Sweet!!- oh wait, I'm out of town that weekend... f**k! Oh well, enjoy that one.

Would be shocked if there are no openers. (Most of the weekend stuff I've gone to at the Fillmore has either had 2 openers or an opener and a DJ). It would be great if it turned out to be an earlier set though. :)

On weekends? At the Fillmore? Everything I've seen on a Friday/Saturday there this year ended well after 12:30 (a few around 1, and one at like 1:30?). I'm trying to remember exactly when the headliners went on...

Upon further review, it turns out we haven't been there on the weekend at all this year, just a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is good news though, I've always wanted shows at the Filmore to go later in the evening.

Do they have a ticketing page for upcoming shows?

The Sound Factory or, as I'd thought they we're trying to re-brand and just "the Factory," is that club I'd always used to hear pumped on KMEL and 94.9 when I would listen to those stations in Jr High. Mainstream radio top 40; bridge and tunnel crowd. But I've never been there.

guedita

Isn't it at 525 Howard? Or 525 Harrison? There are two clubs that I think are at or around 525 on both of those streets.

Apparently the Nosaj Thing/Z-Trip/De la Soul event has been canceled.

It's on Harrison, and yes they were trying to re-brand it as "The Factory" at some point.

That sucks about the z-Trip show. We should go to the End Up instead. Really. ;)

$60? Meh. I'm nowhere near that big a fan of Dave Chappelle. In fact, I'd hardly call myself a "fan" of his at all. Good find, though - I'm sure there are some that will go apeshit over this announcement.

Sucks about the Ztrip/de la show.

And Egull, I'm gonna hit you up for that DJ sneak show.

Phantogram at Fillmore sounds good. They were pretty great at OSL. And the new songs had a lot of potential. I got a feeling they are about to break out.

Per RA, Dixon plays from 7-10 pm and PW will be bathed in natural light courtesy of some uncovered skylights (who knew?). I am now much more excited for this event (crossing fingers for an evening of clear skies :))

They've already posted the full set times, wow.

This seems perfect (though I may end up only going for Dixon).
05:00pm - 07:00pm = Adnan Sharif
07:00pm - 10:00pm = DIXON
10:00pm - 12:00am = Lance Desardi & Christian Mora
