Sounds like it was iight.

I was excited about this...

2 Shows with YEASAYER - Wednesday, May 25th & Thursday, May 26th at the Fillmore!

...Until I remembered I just booked a trip to Europe from May 20th to June 1st.

These are shows that will eventually sell out?

Anyone going to Judge Jules tomorrow night at Ruby Skye?

Should be some good big club progressive house. Not normally my cup of tea, but The Judge is a fucking legend and I have always wanted to see him ever since the first time I heard his JDJ cd.

Also, what time do the headliners normally play at Ruby Skye? I know a bunch of you guys went out for Sasha, does anyone remember when Sasha came on?

have fun BlackSwan. just stopped by the Indy to pick up Phantogram tix and saw some of the band soundchecking. pretty cool backdrop they have and I imagine it will be even better with some blacklights or something on it. I've listened to only a few select track of theirs on-line and just don't feel it. was thinking of scoping their Amoeba gig tomorrow if I'm not at the Giants FanFest. any particular songs you recommend that might hook me?

Does your sister have a habit of pouring beer on you?

I've actually never seen as many girls at a Mighty show as there were last night. Which I guess is good, because of feminism. But bad, because most of them were awful.

Nisus's set was pretty banging, but the fist-pump was not in me so I left.

Little Dragon was awesome tonight, they played for about two hours, their new material was really good as well. The only thing is I wish they play a little bit more off of their first album, but still great, and I am stoked I am seeing them again tomorrow. Guaranteed after seeing that performance and hearing a couple new songs, this was the last chance to see them at such a small venue.

I was really looking forward to The Twelves after falling in love with their essential mix. The for sure put on a good show last night but i wasnt really thrilled by it. I realize and like that they play strictly dance music, and are awesome at playing strictly dance music but what surprised me/let me down was they didnt mix it up at all like i would expect for a live show. I dont remember one track coming on that was a set stopper or anything that really made me stop and go wow. I had a fun night but i was expecting more than i got.

Yeah, that show is being combined with the annual Chinese New Year party (burner music and tiny costumes, not to be confused with the actual holiday) @ 1015... the "monsters of bass" are headlining but they have all four rooms open, it's like 10pm - 6am, seriously crazy party. Last year was SO much fun.

And btdubs they just added presale tickets to the Frankie Knuckles thing, it's a little more expensive but worth it to not have to get to Mighty at 10.

I've seen Tycho 6 times and have never paid that much to see him. However, this show is an anniversary show for SOMA FM, which probably accounts for the ticket price.

nice to be local, eh.

i just listened to his stuff on myspace for the first time...sounds nice. is he fun live or is it pretty much just a down tempo vibe? i like that it's so close to me, but i've had mixed results with down tempo DJs. most of the time their shows not being much different than listening to the albums in my living room.

Tycho is a pretty blatant ripoff of Boards of Canada, but an alternate universe version of Boards of Canada that makes music for candle stores.

Tycho's shows are quite fun. He recently added a guitarist, keyboardist, drummer and female vocalist to the live line-up. This combines to create a larger and richer sound. Tycho also creates his own visuals, posters, shirts, etc. Here's a recent show:

Tycho is by far mine and Erika's favorite IDM performer.

there is a chance vicky might not come to either this show or big sur since we got both. i'll give you a ring first if that happens. (also, sorry i didn't hit you back about going to see a movie. i'm totally swamped with work and have been sick, i don't think I'm gonna have the chance any time soon)

Cool man, definitely let me know. And no worries about the movie - I've been swamped with work too and haven't gone to see a thing.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters
Saturday, May 7th
Sunday, May 8th

presale begins 2/10 @ 10am!
(password = cheval)

For the first time in 25 years, Costello will let his set-list be chosen by "The Spectacular Spinning Songbook," a monumental game-show wheel that features 40 song-titles, including hits, rarities and very unexpected covers. Audience members will be invited onstage where they may spin "The Wheel" and then be offered a chance to enter the "Hostage to Fortune Go-Go Cage", while their selection is performed. Alternatively, they may choose to take a seat in the on-stage "Society Lounge", where light refreshments will be served, during what promises to be a splendid and surprising evening.

I don't care about anything until Low End Theory next month. Their debut night was outstanding.

At the Sacramento Electronic Music Festival, my wife and I talked to Daedelus for 10 minutes or so. I asked him how he thought the Low End Theory SF debut went. He said that he felt that SF was overdue for an event such as this and he really enjoyed the whole evening. He did say that he was surprised by how few people stuck around after 2am. We'd already been talking talking about Seattle, so I responded with, at least they don't turn in as early as they do in Seattle. He laughed. We always enjoy talking to Alfred, he's a super nice/cool guy.

Anyone going to play Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at Mezzanine tonight? Im planning on going, but Im not a gamer like some of my friends are and they are telling me that gamers will and are freaking out over this game and are worried that Mezzanine will "sell out" early.

I'd just planned on getting there at 8pm, but do I really need to get there early for this?

*Edit, just found this on FB on the Marvel vs. Capcom page...

Hello all. Occasional lurker, longtime Coachella attendee. Seems as though a decent number of people in this thread dig house/techno - thought I might be of some assistance in bringing your attention to some shows that may lack for promotion.

To wit:

Ben Klock (Berghain resident, making SF debut), DVS1, Le Loup, Love Fingers @ Public Works on 2/25. Serious business for techno heads and funky house/nu-disco fans.

Happy to regularly post smaller, underground events should people express an interest.

QOTSA are one of my all-time favorite live bands. not so much the first release, but subsequent releases (i.e. the ones with Josh singing, not Mark Lanegan) have such a sexy vibe. i guess i'm a little gay for Mr. Homme. plus, seeing Joey Castillo murder his drum kit each night is one of the best live experiences in life.

No, but someone in the Boys Noize thread posted this:

The US shows before Coachella will be BNR Showcases...probably similar to this.

Blasthaus doesn't say live or DJ, but does say BNR artists TBA.

how were the Decemberists?

Awesome. They opened with California One/Youth and Beauty, did The Crane Wife 1, 2, 3 in succession, The Engine Driver, Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect, Grace Cathedral Hill, Chimbley Sweep, The Mariner's Revenge...

and they married a couple on stage.

If you happen to see the Wolfgang tickets have gone on sale I would greatly appreciate a post letting me/others know about it. I’ve seen him 2 times and was blown away each time.

What time do the headliners usually come on at RS on a Thursday?

I have a bad habit of building this up too much, but, anyone who is the least bit interested in seeing Wolfgang should make it happen. He is well worth your Thursday night and $20.
