If you've seen the Artist in another venue, was it better or worse?

it really varies, but in general coachella sets are fine contexts for a band to shine, if not a bit too short sometimes.

Apparently MGMT still sucked in 08 and apparently are going to still suck this year, so I'm going to say "No..."

She Wants Revenge brought the worst out of Coachella goers by tricking them into watching their set over Daft Punk's.

people actually opted for SWR? The popularity of that band baffled me.

if you're trying to insinuate that MGMT was better than My Bloody Valentine please leave the boards now.

Did you miss the word "Apparently" in my post not once but twice? And are you defending the very point I just made in saying they "Apparently" weren't at their best in 2008? I mean, really...

I think they bring out the best in some performers. Macca's set last year certainly made me feel that way.

Cage the Elephant Friday 2pm 2009

Bloody rocked last year, but seeing them at the El Rey in the fall impressed me even more.
I think the main difference is that the crowd often will be much more into things at Coachella than at other venues which I always found a bit odd. Maybe it's the whole artist-audience chemistry thing. Don't know. Most times, I enjoy a band's energy at Coachella much more although the sets are shorter.

Well if we go by DCFC's set in 2008, the answer is a big fat no.

It depends on the artist

If its a Sahara act, then the crowd will make it more memorable than seeing the same set at another place.

Scars on Broadway? Now I was not there in 08 but I can imagine them being any good at coachella or any venue for the matter

There's some truth to this. MSTRKRFT and deadmau5 play in Toronto what feels like every other month. I've probably seen both of them here at least once but couldn't tell you a thing about possibly either set, though I do remember MSTRKRFT at Coachella last year.

The guy from Fucked Up didn't get naked but McCartney played a 30-something song set, so it definitely depends on the artist.

Perhaps he didnt want to get tasered like in the video of the naked guy by the Sahara

It has for a lot of acts (daft punk, prince, McCartney, arcade fire, etc), but not others (weezer, death cab, depeche mode). Most seem to be just as good as in a standard venue, just shorter.
