There seems to be a lot of easterns and B.C. folk heading down to Coachella, what I want to know is who all is from Alberta??
We are from Calgary and will be camping on site.

I was also wondering; Anyone who has done the drive before, what are good towns/cities to stay over on the way down? (We are hoping to leave Tuesday afternoon and arriving on Thursday)

Thanks!!

We're coming from Calgary too. I've done the drive from Vegas to Calgary and it was fairly boring. Unfortunately we're not leaving till the Wednesday because of exams so we have a super epic drive ahead of us.

What about places to stay over on the way down. We estimated it would take 2.5 full days of driving

That would be super cool to have a Calgary tent village. We have like 10 people or more coming. If I were you Shmandala I would do the long drive to Vegas(18 hours) and stay there a couple nights. It's an amazing city and not that far from indio.

An alberta camp town would be sweet. We are coming down with 6 to 8 people

We were thinking of stopping in Vegas on the way home for one night, but maybe stopping on the way down would be an idea too! I turn 21 on April 21 so it would definetly be a way to kick off the trip!

P.s...a Calgary tent villlage would be awesome!!

I'd suggest staying at the imperial palace if you go to Vegas. If your like us then your probably not wanting to spend a lot of money. You spend almost no time in your hotel in Vegas but if you only have a little big of time there then Imperial Palace is right in the middle of the strip. I turned 21 a little over a year ago and I've already been to Vegas twice. From Calgary to Vegas there really aren't a lot of places that are very interesting to stop in. The places in Salt lake are interesting to see.

you wanna hear stupid exams: friday april 27th (last possible day for exams) Sociology Final from 11:30-1:30!!!!!!!! Drop the course or miss Coachella.....

I would be flying in from calgary so if i go (considering i have a 3 day pass and camping pass) I will be down for calgary tent city!

That is brutal dude. Is that at U of C? I think the last day for exams at the U is the 26th so you might want to check again. I don't know about other schools though.

Do you know other people going down? We have friends flying down a little late so we're setting up a tent for them. We have enough of us that we could even set it up for them.

Dan check into deferring your last exam. I know UofC has a system inplace where you can write your final durring the second week of May (maybe later) if you are not going to be able to make it. You will have to get crafty because I think it has to be a non-travel related reason. Somthing like religious reason, family matters, etc. count. There are applications for deferrals which i think you can pick up pretty easily from the schools.

I got very lucky this year. My exams start on the 16th and I am finished on the 20th! I was getting ready to have a great excuse ready to go for a deferral but I definetly lucked out.

Coming from Edmonton. We stayed in Vegas on our way last year... it's a long drive there, be prepared... there's not lots along the way the coolest place i think was salt lake city.
Any of you guys staying at Lake Cahuilla? It's definitely the place to be .

btw dude, if u leave tuesday afternoon, u won't get to vegas till the next afternoon/night. Mapquest says its about 21 and a half hours from edmonton but we were ripping at 130km/h most of the way and it took about 27 (when u factor in gas/pee stops), of course u can subtract 2 hours from that cuz ur coming from calgary.
But, by the time u get there u'll be soo beat from the drive ull just wanna pass out or die... so really u'll only get thursday afternoon to see vegas, cuz its another 5 or 6 hour drive to indio from there.
I suggest you leave Monday, that way u can at least take your time..

I don't know if we're even going to be able to stop in Vegas. We're leaving on the wednesday the 25th and have to be there by the 26th. An epic drive.

If anyone wants to drive through central oregon you can give me a ride. :). It's a nice drive to go this way too...well until you get to cali in which case it gets boring, but that part goes quick. PM me really if u want to give me a ride and I can pay you for gas and such, and I'm a nice 19 yr old guy. I could prolly get u a place to stay b4 the concert if ur going down early.
