There's some tough competition in the Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue category. The Gorge and the Bowl could swipe it from the Polo Fields. Personally i'd go with Empire.

21st Annual Pollstar Awards Winners List

Posted on Thursday February 18, 2010 at 12:01 AM Add |

The live music biz honored its own last night at the 21st annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. See the complete list of winners after the jump.

There’s nothing like the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards, an annual affair where the folks that make it happen, including promoters, artist managers, booking agents and technical companies – are the stars of the evening. Add in an open bar and gourmet catering and you have a night to remember. That is, for everyone that can remember last night.

The winners are chosen by the folks that make the concert scene happen. It’s an insider’s look at which bands mattered in 2009, and which companies and individuals kept the concert biz a hummin’ throughout the year.

But before we begin, we’d like to thank this year’s awards host Kathleen Madigan for a job well done, as well as the folks at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live who graciously provided the venue for this year’s shindig.

not one writer for CoS has actually attended Coachella. Oddly, their winner Bonnaroo is the only one to have advertised on their site.

They did review Coachella 2009, but only Friday:

http://consequenceofsound.net/2009/04/21/coachella-friday-finally-feeling-the-music/

COS is based out of Chicago with over "40 staff members" according to their LinkedIn http://www.linkedin.com/companies/consequence-of-sound (None to check grammar apparently) and probably picked Roo because they're an advertiser. I bet that award they gave out looks good with Roo's lineup this year compared to Coachella! They've been doing a "This Is My Town" kind of thing for L.A. but seem more like online bios from the venue than someone who's been there. Since when is the Wiltern almost hidden from view? :nono

http://consequenceofsound.net/2010/01/22/where-we-live-the-wiltern-los-angeles-ca/

I would bet Goldenvoice is alot more proud of their Pollstar award than missing out on COS's "Festival of the Decade" award. If anything, this might be their reaction if they won Alex's award:

Pretty much. Tells you how much they really care about Coachella except when it's rumor time. If Alex goes to Coachella, we would love to meet him. If not at Pitchfork Fest or Lolla. We want to see his corner office in Chicago.

this is just pathetic...esp with how obsessed CoS/Alex is with Coachella dispensing line-up rumours (which are mostly poached from right here).

thus cementing their standing as crap.

It is voted on annually by the magazine's membership." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rocks_Amphitheatre)
