Don't know if this was posted already, tried searching, but couldn't find anything.

Why has Sly & The Family Stone's billing been changed to just Sly Stone on the poster on Sunday? A solo show? not the original Family Stone performing?

This would disappoint me a little bit, if it was just Sly solo.

Especially after already seeing Sly and the Family Stone on the poster.

just a little though, kinda will open things up in the evening time if it's a solo gig... saw him solo once... just ok...

Yeah, the only good thing about this is it will make me feel a little less guilty if I have to miss him.

What the hell is up with them and all these older acts being removed, changing dates or changing names on the poster?

It's amazing that the obvious has to be stated over&over+over again.

Lineup Subject To Change (and completely lose my interest).

Wow! I can't believe there are "purists" out there who care about the makeup of Sly's band. Sly's mind is kinda baked anyway, so if you're a purist, you wouldn't watch him anyway.

Novelty acts only get novelty consideration. :thu

Isn't Sly Stone playing Coachella?

Annoying. I thought if anyone backed out it'd be Sly himself.

Supposedly Sly has a solo album coming out this year. Hopefully his set isn't all new songs. Sly and the Family were one of the best surprises when the lineup came out. This is a bummer.

There goes Coachella's first Woodstock act. I guess it'll be The Who next year. I wish I could've been able to tell my mom I saw Sly and the Family Stone.

Unrelated, but last year I told my dad I was seeing Paul McCartney, and he was like "That's pretty gay. They shoulda got Bruce." (He's from New Jersey)

This also makes me sad because Sly will probably drop within a few weeks... Massive Attack better come in and save this fucking festival

You're a fucking retard if you think this festival needs saving. Look at Friday, look at Sunday. No life support vest needed. The only day in need of any help is Saturday, in which case, yes, Massive Attack would be greatly appreciated.

Well they should have got Bruce.

No, they shouldn't have. Bruce Springsteen's parents would even take Paul McCartney over the supposed Boss. Hmm, let's see, one half of the greatest songwriting tandem in history or some New Jersey jackoff who couldn't shine Bob Dylan's shoes? Tough call.

I meant in terms of big rare acts. It's a fantastic festival overall, and even if Massive Attack isn't added (which they probably won't be) I'm still pumped to go. I'm just pretty pissed at the loss of the Fam.

maybe sly and the family stone has been replaced by Silverster Stalone reading and excerpt from Rocky IV

i agree, this was the biggest blow for me. I am a huge fan of their music, and this is one thing that got me excited about coachella this year. I know its not gonna happen but i wish PF would come on and give us a reason for a change. damnit. no no no.

GV do not give explanations when artists drop off the line up. Or, in this case, when part of the band drops off the line up.

In 2008, when Madness was dropped off the line up, I had to go find out for myself. And I did. I got an exact reason. I suggest you do the same. Try contacting some of Sly's people, Im sure you will get a response.

You are half right.
Yes, Sly is baked.
No, it is not wrong to care about the current make up of the band.

However...

Any Sly and the Family Stone historian/"Purist" already knew that Larry Graham wouldn't be there. Things ended REAAALLLLYYY bad between Sly and himself. (We're talkin' about hit men. No shit.)

It would have been Sly and the Family Stone in name only. (Kinda like GNR)

So let it be Sly Stone, then.

you guys keep talkin' like Sly Stone is still even probably going to be there... i'd be less surprised if the Family Stone had actually shown up w/o him.
