Also, does anyone know the name of the instrument that the Edward is playing during the chorus? It's like a harpsi-keyboard thingy? Sounds beautiful.

No, Chris is right, that's the Omnichord that he's playing there. At Pitchfork, Ed's broke and the Mae Shi let him borrow theirs.

He plays the autoharp more frequently on the Yellow House material, and occasionally when they do their reinterpretations of the Horn of Plenty stuff.

can't wait to april....I heard they are amazing live these days!

From a sound perspective they are awesome live, and kinda like the National, some of their relatively mellow songs on record take on an almost epic anthemic quality live.

As interactive performers, they're nothing special...most of their songs are played to click tracks, so expect very little in the way of spontaneity, and they're pretty lame if not awkward when it comes to stage banter.

The mix was pretty bad at the beginning of the set. The bass was cranked up too high and the vocals were mixed too low. It got progressively better, though, and sounded really great by the end.

This is a set that let me down, and it didn't have anything to do with the band.

Best of the weekend. Period.

I wholeheartedly agree. I only noticed the sound problems until a minute into "Southern Point," and then the mix seemed to smooth out. It was my third time seeing Grizzly Bear and it was easily their best performance of the three. "Fine For Now" and "Lullabye" were obvious stand-outs, as was "Ready, Able." You could tell throughout the entire performance that people were absolutely mesmerized by Grizzly Bear's live show.

Gorillaz may have been the best act of Coachella, but Grizzly Bear was easily the best experience.

I noticed the mix problems as well. I think it's a case of things being cranked up too high to help nullify soundbleed from the other tents. While the vocals suffered a bit, especially at first, and a lot of subtleties seemed to be lost, it was still a great set. Loved hearing "I Live With You"->"While You Wait For the Others"...that was a powerful combo there.
