One of the non-mainstream gems of the progressive rock world. Their 2009 tour was mind-blowing. Any other PT fans around here?

Yes, I'm a fan. I've never seen them live though. What do you think they're gonna play, they have an insane amount of music to choose from. They seem like the kind of band that would play an entire cd live

Hey guys, glad you are showing Porcupine Tree some love, and I hope I get a chance to check them out barring conflicts. There's already a thread for them though, here: http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35474&highlight=porcupine+tree

I must say, I'm glad I discovered these guys and Rx Bandits...I just wish they weren't playing Saturday. No way I'm going to catch all of the acts I'd like to that day.

^I'm surprised Rx Bandits are still around. They used to fill the opening slot at the Nile Theater in Mesa, AZ almost every weekend in 1999 and 2000. I'm curious to hear what their set is like 10 years later.

I am just getting into them. Listening to "In Absentia" for the first time as we speak, great stuff! Def on my must see list for Saturday at Coachella.

I have been a fan of porcupine Tree since the beg. back in the 90's! I have seen them more times than I can count!!! every time is amazing!!! they put on a great show and I am very excited that this band is finally getting recognized and having some Coachella light shown on them! I highly recommend everyone give them 10-15 minutes of their Coachella time!!!

Huge fan. I posted on another thread, i thought maybe they'd play The Incident all the way through. Its perfect for the set time they'll get. They're my must see for the entire weekend. Deadwing and Fear of blank planet are good albums.

This song will make you fall in love w them:

In Absentia has been on rotation all day....loving it especially "Trains," "Lips of Ashes," and "Heart Attack in a Lay By." I am a moderate King Crimson fan and a die-hard Tool fan so maybe that's why I dig Porcupine Tree so much right away. Anyone have any recommendations on what album I should try next?

You hear a lot of Pink Floyd influence in Porcupine Tree

I liked Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun a lot.

I would listen to The Incident since thats what they'll be playing the most from. Otherwise, I'd recommend Lightbulb Sun and then Fear of a Blank Planet if you've already listened to In Absentia

Porcupine tree is great. They are amazing live as well saw them at Avalon in Hollywood a few years ago. Amazing musicians.
