View Full Version : Likely Setlists!

Prior to attending a festival, I generally go to setlist.fm and put together playlists based on the most commonly appearing songs, and it usually prepares me well for artists I'm unfamiliar with.

Is there a thread that features likely setlists of Coachella acts? I couldn't find one using search.... if not, I'll post a few of the bands I'm looking forward to here.

Note: Since we don't know set times, it's best to be a little over-inclusive... 12-15 songs per lower-listed band... 18-24 for sub-headliners and above, or something along those lines. Maybe more for headliners who play long shows.

Also Note: If these bands have new albums drop prior to Coachella, the setlists could be wildly variant, with the new material dominating.

Here's a start:

Faith No More Setlist (Sorted by order of probability):

1. Epic
2. Midlife Crisis
3. Evidence
4. Caffeine
5. The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
6. Surprise! You're Dead!
7. Easy
8. Ashes to Ashes
9. Chariots of Fire/Stripsearch
10. Just a Man
11. Last Cup of Sorrow
12. Reunited (Peaches and Herb, not on any FNM recording)
13. Be Aggressive
14. Land of Sunshine
15. From Out of Nowhere
16. King for a Day
17. We Care a Lot
18. Cuckoo for Caca
19. I Started a Joke

Every other song was played at less than 1/3 of the 2009 FNM shows... so if you become familiar with these songs, you'll probably enjoy their set.

Gary Numan Setlist (Sorted by order of probability):

1. Films
2. Pure
3. Metal
4. Jagged
5. The Fall
6. Cars
7. Haunted
8. Halo
9. We Are So Fragile
10. A Prayer for the Unborn
11. Down in the Park
12. Are "Friends" Electric
13. Rip
14. Blind

Again, every other song was played less than 33% of the time in 2009. Gary does have a new album (Dead Son Rising) coming out around Coachella-time, so that might affect his setlist significantly.

11. Napoleon Says
12. Love Like A Sunset

Look at the individual setlists though (particularly the ones from America). They keep virtually the same songs/order for most of their shows (the biggest changes are for the shows in Mexico), so you can have a good idea what to expect.

Oh, and they're awesome.

WOW! This is pointless.

Why is this pointless? Many folks respond poorly to a band's music the first time they hear it... even if it's good music, or a band they like.

It's nice to be pleasantly surprised by someone you're not familiar with, but if you go into a festival cold, you're going to miss some excellent music.

I know the first time I saw Vampire Weekend I didn't say "Wow, I can't wait to see them live!", but after listening to their music, I'm looking forward to the show.

I see this going two ways. They could choose to go straight through The Incident (disc 1), which is damn incredible but severely lacking in catalog depth. Alternately they might pair down their new album to the following:

Blind House (6 min)
Drawing the Line (5 min)
The Incident (5 min)
Time Flies (12 min) - this is guaranteed.
I Drive the Hearse (7 min)

And that leaves around half an hour for other goodies like Trains, Hatesong, Start of Something Beautiful, and Way out of Here.

Personally I would die for just one older classic like Radioactive Toys, Dark Matter, Fadeaway or Even Less.

Hand Me Down Your Love

This is PERFECT, however, they never play Keep Fallin'. It's my favorite. :/

When Phoenix was in Phoenix this was their setlist. I really wish they would have done Too Young. Oh well, maybe at the festival.

1. Lisztomania
2. Long distance call
3. Lasso
4. Run Run Run
5. Fences
6. Girlfriend
7. Armistice
8. Love Like a Sunset Part I
9. Love Like a Sunset Part II
10. Napoleon Says
11. Consolation Prizes
12. Rally
13. Rome
14. Funky Squaredance
Encore:
15. Everything is everything (acoustic)
16. Playground Love (Air cover)
17. If I Ever Feel Better
18. 1901
very good set i would approve. but realistically they will only get an hour long time slot and so 19 songs wont be possible... expect all there "hits"

I'm kinda surprised that I didn't see Pressure Drop on any of their setlists either.

Anyone have any idea for Devo? Only setlists I can find are when they did whole album shows.
something like this:

That's Good
Don't Shoot (I'm a Man)
Girl U Want
Whip It
New Song
Mongoloid
Jocko Homo
New Song
Gut Feeling / Slap Your Mammy
Gates of Steel
Beautiful World

woah woah WOAH, has he really been playing Where I'm From? I've seen him twice over the past couple years and missed that both times. It's my favorite from RD.

Any chance Dr. Dre comes out and they do Watch Me and or The Watcher? That would be sick.

I can't believe they didn't play Too Young. I saw them twice last year, and they played it both times.

Also, worth noting: their sets are usually an hour and 15 minutes (including encore break), so if they have 50 (which I assume they will), they'll play most of the songs that have been mentioned here. Cutting Love Like A Sunset or Funky Squaredance will save almost 10 minutes apiece.

Take this list, and add in most of their new album. This clearly doesn't account for the probability that half their set will be from Transference (no Written in Reverse is a glaring omission).

does anyone know about what content Hot Chip has been playing recently? should we expect mostly new album? or can I hope to hear anything from Made In The Dark and The Warning?

I would imagine they would play And I Was A Boy From School and would hope The Warning as well.

Recent setlists show nothing from the first album, but, from The Warning, they've been playing the usuals: Boy From School, Over and Over, and No Fit State -- plus a handful of songs from Made in the Dark.
