The lyrics to "Beat Boy" (part of the song shown in the first video) are fucking ridiculous.

Excerpt:

"The men in the masks gather round the patient,
Waiting in anticipation.
The old surgeon says, "Can you see this?
A beautiful woman with a brand new penis!"
You clap the surgeon, lift his white gown,
Grip the surgeon's milky white butt-cheeks.
Rape the surgeon, break the surgeon,
Absorb your penis into your tummy,
You a woman again, complete with a vagina.
I'm flipping my rhyme, uh!"

It's like 8 minutes of this.

Yes hippie folk are good peeps especially if they're yr folks. Tricky talks about Durban Poison bein his favorite strain in a intrview I read. I've had the pleasure of puffin it and I must say its choice. I think much of Die Antwoord's intrigue lyrically is they're slang which is regional & cultural.

I feel very weird about them... on one hand, I don't think they're horrible. I read about Ninja and his past projects and it's all pretty interesting, he seems like a cool and pretty talented dude.

On the other hand, why are they so popular? I think it's just blog hype, honestly. It's one of those things where a few blogs go DIE ANTWOORD and then people go Hmm, Die Antwoord? I should check that out. Maybe I should care about it. And now they're playing between Z-Trip and 2ManyDJs at Coachella, nearly headlining festivals, rapping over Aphex Twin... I don't really get it. They sold out their show here, and it's like, is that people who are genuinely Die Antwoord fans or just people who are like "oh shit I've heard of that on the internet." And I'm not saying either is better or more valid, it's just a strange kind of fame that's particularly interesting to me.

Every two weeks it's some new blowhard whining about not getting 3 more 2manydjs songs from the same fucking set that they have been touring for the past 2 years.

Get. Over. It.

Nope. Fuck that, I'm sorry Brandon. This is one mistake GV should learn from, and like, have it not happen again, instead of forgetting about it.

They wasted valuable night time Sahara for some straight up gimmicky tripe. It isn't about 2manydjs (and as a 2manydjs fan I'll admit, the set was pretty terrible, wish I went and saw Devo... [and yes I know only 1 of the brothers showed up, doesn't really matter, doesn't take 2 people to mix properly])

or, could have had Z-Trip spin longer, point is anything would have been better. If Die Antwoord was such hot shit, they should have been able to bring it in the Gobi at 3pm.

This board is the ever present reminder of some sort of consensus that Coachella regards overall,...so I'll keeping saying my part to try to help insure a better Coachella as the years go on.

I consider that a blowsoft, I'll blowhard next time. ~_^

I'm not exactly sure what you would have wanted then. A longer 2mdjs set that you thought was "pretty terrible," or a longer Z-Trip set that was mildly entertaining but nothing special.

There will always be bands you or I dont like. That's the way it goes.

In all honesty, that 2manydjs set was the same set you could have heard from them a year ago and probably already had in your personal collection for just as long. Fuck Die Antwoord. They got better since Coachella. Die Antwoord were very entertaining and did a good job of getting the crowd going. I wasn't a fan going in and was waiting for an excuse to walk out any second once I was in but I stayed for most of their set. Walking out I had to give them props for having their live show on lock and making their show fun to be at.

Very amusing to see the haters now all infatuated with DA because they've seen them live.

I missed them at Conflictchella and hadn't really guessed I'd get to see them before they faded out of their 15 minutes. I was pretty surprised to see them in the Voodoo lineup and knew I had to see the show, I just wasn't sure why. The music is interesting, but not in my every day play list. After seeing the show on the rail, surrounded by their fanatics, I understand it. It's like watching a car stuck on a railroad track, not willing to help, just wanting to watch the gore happen. Their fans are hard core, lots of energy, and anger. I don't think I would have gotten the same expereince standing in the back watching from the outskirts. Die Antwoord has serious stage presence. They gave everything they had to the audience and it was nasty. Towards the ends of the show, Ninja came crowd surfing through us and my hand ended up in his gooey armpit while helping him back on the stage. Three days later
I still feel like I haven't scrubbed all the funk off me. I highly suggest seeing them before they disappear.

South African hip-hop group Die Antwoord has five albums up its sleeve that are ready to go, according to Consequence of Sound.

The first album in their line of releases is $O$, which they named "because if we didn't make it with this album we were gonna be f*cked," Ninja said.

The second album has already been previewed. The group started sampling it last December. No title was mentioned, however.

The third album will be called The Voice and will be featured as Yolandi's solo album. The fourth album will be a Ninja solo album entitled Dominator, which Ninja said would be released at the same time as The Voice to see which one of them sells more copies. And unfortunately, the fifth album is still being kept a secret; not that we didn't just get a pretty significant preview of all of Die Antwoord's plans, though. The group plans to shake up the pop scene over the next five years.

Five albums! My goodness. I have my doubts that all five albums will come to fruition. Will the masses still care about Die Antwoord in five years? Only time will tell.

http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/uponsun/2010/10/post_24.php

So
1) $O$
2) Untitled Die Antwoord Album
3) The Voice (Yolandi Solo Album)
4) Dominator (Ninja Solo Album)
5) Untitled "Secret" Die Antwoord Album

Since seeing Baby's on Fire after Tom posted it, I've become obsessed with their videos. There is something fascinating about their boldness and weirdness.

I woke up to that on my facebook feed. I love that they kill Pitbull in it. Guess people still care about Die Antwoord 4 years later, wish I had a ticket to their Fonda show next week.

This, I've had these very bizarre and semi-sexual dreams about her. It's kind of weird.
