Not sure if there is a thread like this, but people are always putting together "must see bands" for the line ups at Coachella. Problem is, a lot of people dont know a lot of the bands that are playing and find it cumbersome and boring to check out every single artist. Plus its expensive if you actually want to hear the whole album and pay for it (if anybody even pays for music anymore I dunno, i still do).

Anyway. I thought it'd be kool for people to suggest to each other bands to see at Coachella based on must see's for this year, and even suggest bands that are not on the line up.

So here goes.

For me its . . .

LCD Soundsystem
Deadmau5
Public Image Limited
Grizzly Bear
Whites boy Alive
Jets Overhead

Muse
MGMT
Devo
The xx
Mew
Tokyo Police Club

Phoenix
Orbital
Spoon (these last 3 bands are all going to conflict, unfortuantely)
Gary Numan (hopefully he only plays his 70's and 80s)
Jonsi
Owen Pallett

Your list is missing Fever Ray. There are very few reasons I can think of for someone to not have her as a must see.

He's not a must see for me because . . . I hated his solo album. Although, if you've ever seen the live versions he did on Henry Rollins show, those would DEFINITELY be worth seeing.

Fever Ray isn't on my "must-see" list.

I always found Fever Ray boring. Maybe im crazy.

Oh, you are crazy. The reason she isn't on my list is because I already saw her in SF.

I personally wouldn't miss Gorillaz. They have only played a few shows here since they toured behind that first record.

You find Fever Ray to be boring yet the XX live is a must see for you? Interesting.

Blackswan, having already seen her is definitely one of the few reasons I can think of.

XX is boring, but they have hooks. I'll check out Fever Ray more. Plus, if nothing is going on while she plays, I prob will check it out.

I never got too huge into Gorrilaz, but since I dont really want to see any big headliners that day, I may see them.

Gorillaz aren't a must-see, you might as well leave early to beat the crowds.

Gorillaz were fairly lame when I saw them in 2002. Just sayin...

I have to admit, I am not that cool. I listen to a lot of different music, but I can honestly say that when the lineup came out, I didn't know 75% of it. I have been youtubing, and downloading as much as I can... but I STILL don't see the appeal in some of these bands that people list as "must see's".

So, if someone would be so inclined... win me over. Give me one or two songs that I have NO CHOICE but to love, and consider them a "must see".

Bands that I am referring to: Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5, Fever Ray, and that's about it. I really don't get the Pavement thing. 2nd line? Are you kidding me? Who the F#*k is Pavement? And why are they on the 2nd line?

Am I the only one in the world that doesn't know who this band is?

There is a thread in the Misc Lounge called Educate Others on the Lineup (http://coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35490) or somesuch. It is filled with descriptions of bands, youtubes, childish bickering and whining. Good stuff.

Here is the summary Josh put together of where all the bands are discussed. The ones you mention are bolded for enjoyment.

So I was really bored and I did this. I hope it helps some people. Randy, if you could, please post this in your first post in the thread. I will continue to update every page if people want me to.

There are also some board mixes that you can check out. Below are the Saturday and Sunday mixes. The Friday mix will be added to the Coachella Board Mix Of The Week (http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53&page=37) thread in a few days. Sunday is my favorite of the two.
