Hey Guys,

I'm flying in from Ontario and am looking into renting a car. Is the best way to go about it Enterprise? Can anyone share experiences with renting a car directly from the airport? Whats the best way of going about this? Thanks.

read this... start at the beginning of the thread and read it. It's my baby lol (actually it's about the only thing I can positively contribute to this board lol).

Hopefully it helps you out. But remember there's a million others searching and/or looking to give rides from all airports, so once you rent, you may be able to offer help to others and help pay for the rental car and gas too. And if you decide you don't wanna rent, you'll be able to find some giving a ride from ONT. CONSTANTLY CHECK THE CARPOOL SECTION

I swear by www.carrentals.com. 99% of the time, I get a car rental cheaper than I do through my travel employee discounts.

I've always gotten seriously cheap prices bidding it on priceline.

I added this tidbit to my rent-a-car-how-to thread in the carpool section. Thanks for the info.

I made my reservation at ONT about a week ago. Who knows how much it's changed since then but in my case Budget was about half the price of Enterprise or any of the others for that weekend.

i recommend Enterprise, simply because they offer 50% off on weekend car rentals..

I ended up getting a minivan from Entreprise. It was 300 bucks all in with insurence. Not bad when you split that by 6. Plus you can fold down the seats and you have a tent. Enterprise has a great 1-800 number that will answer any questions

I NEVER pay full price through the big guys (Enterprise, Avis, Budget, etc.) - you can just about always knock down their BEST prices 30-40% by bidding on Priceline, unless there's a crazy rush for rentals in the timeframe you're looking for.... and these days that is a rarity.

When Priceline's "name your own" price doesn't save bunches of $$$, I usually do Thrifty's "Wild Card" special. Its cheap and more often than not you'll get an upgraded mid-size + for less than people are booking smaller cars. I got a loaded Jeep Commander for $14 a day in Denver two years ago by doing this, and a Chevy Aveo would have been $18/day.
