We are 3 women who want to camp at Coachellas 2010 this year, we've camped before in festivals but only in the UK, so we want to know how dangerous is it for us,... or is it like in other countries that everybody is so friendly and minding their own business?... Please be serious about this, id really appreciate it.

3 women are not "alone." It's a three-some.

Wear these shirts for extra protection.

The use of male power, rape, the threat of assault, and violence against women are the most powerful tools of gender reinforcement that society uses to help keep women down. Think about how many times women are taught to be afraid of the dark, be afraid of the lurking stranger. Be afraid of the man walking down the street...We are warned to be constantly vigilant for our safety. This experience of constant fear is not shared by men. They do not live in constant fear of the stranger who is hiding in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to rape them. It is a foreign experience for them. Do you fear the lurking stranger? In reality, girls and women have more to fear from their own boyfriends, husbands, fathers, uncles, brothers, lovers and male friends. Crimes against women are usually committed by a friend, neighbor or family member!

Don't be scared, girls!!! Go forth and be free. See you at Coachella.

The campgrounds are really safe and campers are super friendly. I've seen girls camping alone so you and your friends should be fine.

I camped alone in '08 and with 1 friend in '06. Both years I made friends in the campsite, who I'm subsequently meeting up with at this year's fest and in the campsite.

Who the fuck are you??? Tori Amos??? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.....Look, there is a shit load of security and cops in the campgrounds and the people are very friendly too. Feel free to camp and have some fun. The only thing to watch out for is the fuckin heat. Drink lots of water.

You will be fine. I camped alone in 2007, in my 8 man tent no doubt. There was a nice group of 5 girls from NYC next to me in a two man tent that wouldn't stfu tho. I swear if my giant tent zipper door (which was bigger than their tent) didn't get stuck I was gonna teach them ladies a lesson!

It really isn't that bad, just don't be stupid & don't let your guard down. If you are that paranoid, you can always shove a sharpened No. 2 pencil (eraser side first) into the orifice(s) of your choice before you fall asleep in said rape tent.

i'm sure there are more rapes in a 60,000 person city on that weekend than Coachella..

I've never had a problem and I've been going it alone for years. There's lots of around the clock security. Lots of people in one place, so be friendly, enjoy camping & the music and you'll have a fun time. Remember to drink lots of water or you will collaspe in the heat.

It isn't too hot to rape, just too dry. Bring lube.

I camped by myself last year, there were a few groups of girls camping around me. I am pretty sure the only danger they were in was when a soccer ball accidentally got kicked in their tent.
