Friday is all about Lucero, I dont care who else maybe playing at the same time. I know I can see Lucero anywhere, but to see them at Coachella will set the weekend off right.

Sorry if there is already a Lucero thread, I didnt feel like looking for one.

Fantastic live band. Saw them twice in 2009. In May they played a huge chunk of Tennessee which made me very happy.

At FYF they played mostly material from 1372 Overton Park and Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers which was a very different show. Their new stuff is much bigger, more Americana-inspired rock with horns and a lot of piano and organ sounds.

I imagine a shortened festival set is going to be focused in this direction. I prefer the whiskey-laden sorrow and stripped-down sound of the earlier material, but the new stuff is still great. COnflicts will determine whether or not I see Lucero at Coachella, but I would FOR SURE recommend them for people who have never seen them before.

Well, I'm glad I didn't pay $17 for the show. The more I listen to them the more I'm feeling like they sound a bit trite and contrived. Not that I hate them... they just don't sound very unique and the singer sounds like he's trying to hard too have a southern accent and a certain roughness. Would take Deer Tick, OCMS, or The Felice Brothers over these guys any day.
