Yeah. And is it ny style, chicago style? Sauce heavy, cheese heavy? Does the cook have a curled moustache?

Understood. I've ALWAYS hated pizza. The only kind I can enjoy is the kind I make at home. The rest is usually all YUCK.

I've never had a slice but it looks like your typical Brooklyn style pizza. Outside of being delicious and probably greasy ny pizza, what makes it so noteworthy?

coldstart
01-24-2010, 10:42 AM
It's not. People like it because they are at Coachella.

Pizza is awesome, I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you. I would love to subsist solely on pizza while at Coachella as I find most of the other options repugnant, and I still do, I just hate it. It's fucking cardboard, no grease, with weird pockmarks dotting the cheese because they don't know how to cook it.

I'm pretty sure this is their signature Spicy Pie. It is indeed, quite spicy. And honestly, it's a far far cry from some of the better pizza I've had in my day. But at Coachella, I practically live off of this... and gyros...

koliebo
01-24-2010, 11:29 AM
The actual "Spicy Pie" is far too spicy... I like spicy foods... but that pizza was just too much.

I'll eat the non-spicy Spicy Pie though! As Coachella food goes, it's pretty darn good.

it's not supposed to compare to restaurant pizza, but it IS the best vendor pizza around BY FAR!!!

and, it's pretty obvious the slice in that pic is fairly old, i always grab a fresh slice (also, if you're hungry late at night, the last hour or so in the festival, they'll often give you 2 for 1 because they're trying to get rid of it all..)

they won't be there this year.

not cool...

I think the secret to it's success at Coachella is to prepare your palate beforehand during the day. Generally, I like a premix of drugs, alcohol, and a churro or two before my tastebuds are ready to give in to it's yumminess.

I'm from NYC originally and I had the Spicy pie twice last year. Its not bad, 6 out of 10.

dantoro
01-24-2010, 08:09 PM
had it twice at coachella and once at LA Detour. All 3 times it was room temperature or cold. (and thats sad in 100 degree + weather)

they have ideal location rights somehow?

always set up inside the VIP beer garden.

The crust was thin like NY pizza only the fraction of the slice was too small to make up for the flatness. I folded and ate because it smelled soooo good after drinking so much. I give it a 4 out of 10.

I <3 spicy pie should be a Latin porno title... if its not already

the T-shirt slogan is tired.

Uhhh the best around? Like you have a choice. Its the only pizza around & it sucks ass! I back up every negative thing said about their shitty greasy imitation cheese Brooklyn style cardboard pizza. It sucked at the Roo & it sucks @ Coachella. Chef Boyardee Pizza kit is a better product. Or gimme a piece of toasted bread with some Ragu pizza quick sauce & mozzarella on it before some spicy pie.
I'd like to also give a shout out with much love & respect to DISCO PIZZA of Ohio who make the best stuffed crust pizza of any vendor on planet earth.

alex gardner
01-24-2010, 10:51 PM
the pizza isn't terrible, and it's not very good either. completely average, and for the price, i almost never eat it unless i'm really hungry and i'm in a hurry to get to a stage in time and i'll eat the motherfucker on the run. eat a gyro, then drink the cucumber sauce and lick it off of your fingers to gross out all your friends.

Urban Dictionary is not chill right now:

1. spicy pie

A girl is tossing your salad, you pass gas, and then proceed to make out with her, a Spicy Pie. Mmmmm, good.

"I did the raunchiest thing last night, my girl was eating my ass like pudding, and i ripped and then we fuckin made out. It was a Spicy Pie."

PrettyRagdoll

I think the reason Spicy Pie is so loved is because A) Like Brokendoll [I think it was her] said, by the time we make it INTO the festival we're all borderline dehydrated and not exactly sober. And B) It's usually a huge fucking slice that seems absolutely amazing when fresh

Try the pizza. But there WAS a chicken Gyro last year that much to my dismay, I only discovered Sunday. If they're back I'll definitely be stopping there. The homemade hot dressing they had was brilliant

the key is to go right after the show when they've just made a pile of new pies.

I can't even tell you how excited I am about the prospect of a post-show combo of spicy pie, a joint, and BEER.

faxman75

Like others have said it's completely over rated. I had a slice on the camground last year and it was forgettable.

Spicy Pie is good for what it is. It's the best slice of pizza you'll find at Coachella compared to the junk others were selling.

dude, people that complained about getting an old or cold slice are retarded.. you DO know you can pick from which pie you want, dont you?? why not get a slice of whatever was just pulled out of the oven?'

Uhhh the best around? Like you have a choice. Its the only pizza around & it sucks ass! I back up every negative thing said about their shitty greasy imitation cheese Brooklyn style cardboard pizza.

MORON!!! YOUR BUS IS LEAVING!!!!

for the record, there is TWO different pizza places at coachella, so YES you DO have a choice..

the OTHER pizza place is in the food/beer garden on the left of the main stage (not the VIP one, NEXT to it).. it's a round pizza that has a softer crust, comes in a box, and is pretty decent, but it's smaller than the big Spicy Pie slice.. they've been in the exact same location at LEAST the last two years..

I <3 Spicy Pie.

I live off it every year at Coachella. Spicy Pie and beer. Damn I can't wait 'til April!

Also, this picture below is not Spicy Pie, at least not the signature Spicy Pie. The real Spicy Pie at Coachella has jalapeņo's, pepperoni and crushed red pepper. No pineapple. It's also usually fresh out of the oven. Since it is super popular they sell out right when they put them on the counter and they put out another fresh one every couple minutes.
