How would you rank this Coachella's lineup to say the last 5

Better than last year and year before that, not as good as 07

since it has gone to three days, I think this has the best three headliners. I still think 08 had the best single day: KraftwerkPortisheadPrince is better than Thom Yorke, Gorillaz and Orbital IMO. And for best single headliner, 07 definitely had it with RATM. So it's hard to compare for me but, this lineup fucking rules.

yeah that triple shot was not something to be taken lightly and not noted.

But I think overall this is probably one of the most visually appealing lineups. I dont feel like there was any undeserving bands listed (like Aoki, Perry, Uffie). I like the break from classic rock. And I like that all headliners are completely fresh.

The lineup is massive. If they don't add anyone tho I'd be mighty curious about them pesky ????

I didn't see 06'. But otherwise:

1. Coachella 2009
2. Coachella 2008
3. Coachella 2010
4. Coachella 2007

I don't really like this line up, i feel like they are going more and more poppy... I really liked 07 I had a blast. Last years line up was good too but I think this is pretty mediocre.

It's tough to gauge, because in '07 thru '09 I was mostly stoked about the undercard bands and maybe one headliner. This year, I am really pleased with the entire lineup. Solid list of bands and 3 great headliners that I am really excited to see...

Headliners I take into account a great deal. This year's headliners are better than any of the last 3. I went Sunday 06 and have gone all three days every year since. This lineup is better than any of the lineups since I've started going. The stuff at the top is great, the stuff in the middle is brilliant, and the stuff at the bottom is either intriguing or as usual I've never heard.

I have genuine freak-out interest in 3 of the subheads, Thom, LCD and FNM, and want to watch 2 of the other 3, TCV and Pavement.

There are more rare acts than I could list off the top of my head - Charlotte Gainsbourg, Fever Ray, The Specials, Sly and the Family Stone, Gorillaz obviously. This lineup is everything I want Coachella to be. 2007 was close, and also had a top to bottom great lineup.

Day 1 of 2006 (Daft Punk ... period)
Day 2 of 2008 (one of the better top-to-bottom, all-around days)
Days 1 & 3 of 2010 are tied for me right now, time will tell
Day 1 of 2009 (sir paul and the black keys = rockgasm)
Day 1 of 2007 (Bjork, Faithless AND Of Montreal? yes please)
Day 3 of 2007 (RATM, of course)

Gosh, this was way harder than I thought...thank you Coachella for being the bearer of such geniusness!

You have to wait. People hated so much on 09 and a lot of people had great times. People already like 2010 so this shit may be even more epic than we think. Who knows what Gorillaz will do? How many people's mind will Jay-Z changed? Muse have a crazy setup? Deadmau5 Big mouse head? Fever Ray Festival? Orbital we've all been waiting for? So many variables you have to wait til 4/19

Best to lease best not including this year because I can't really rate it until I've been:

2008 - 2004 - 2009 - 2005 - 2007 - 2002- 2001 - 2003 - 2006

Based strictly on the poster only, 2010 rivals 2004 on shock value and quality. 2008 didn't get really good until the additions (aphex twin and prince just slayed for me but that jumbled poster really bugged me, that and I had little faith in the DSOTM show boy did that shut me up).

This is their best lineup since 2004. Ask me on certain days, I'll even say it was better.

And why does everyone think 07 was so good? Is it solely because of RaTM? It was RHCP headlining a night then combined with one of the worst Sahara lineups ever.

the more I think about it, 2007 just sticks out just because it was the 1st year to go 3 days. But line up wise, it really wasn't the best (looking back on it now: 3 repeat headliners, lots of repeat acts, no real variety to the line up, etc.). But Jesus, those Bjork and Arcade Fire performances were amazing in my eyes and worth the entire weekend.

This is comparing the previous 5 years with 2010, right?

1. 2006/2007 (I can't pick one over the other.)

2. 2008

3. 2010

4. 2009

5. 2005

Well I was under the impression that we were just basing this on lineups alone.

2008>2010>2007>2006>2009
This is based on overall depth of the lineup not necessarily on the performances (since I can't judge this year yet). This year has the chance to be the best ever though.

I think the non headliners this year are incredilble and better line up than last year again without it happening yet just based upon line up only.

I think it's fair to compare the three-day years.
For me, it's: 2007>2010>2008>2009

It has very little to do with headliners, as much as the overall lineup. Each year has headliners I really enjoy (RAMT, Prince, The Cure) and others I have little interest. Friday of 2007 was my favorite Coachella day ever.
