This will be a must-see act for me, and probably for some others on here as well.

The latest single (and first off of Volume Two), "In The Sun," has just leaked. Ask me via PM for a link if you want it.

Speaking of which, Volume Two is scheduled to be released on March 23rd. Performing near sunset would be ideal, but anytime before then would be just as nice.

In the meantime, here are some favorites off of Volume One.

So, so excited. Top 5 act of the weekend for me, for sure, but I have this awful feeling they're going to conflict with something else (I could see them closing the Outdoor Stage opposite Jay-Z).

For those who don't get it, it took me a few listens. But even now, I still love it more every time I hear it. It's so simple, but it sneaks up on you.

which one do you consider the obscure one? Flakes is a Blockbuster exclusive, it's pretty widely available.. i'd say the Go-Getters, The Good Life, Raving, and Gigantic are faaaar more obscure.. (and those are just the ones from the last few years)... and, um, i don't believe she was in Heathers.. she would've been 8 years old..

i would love a tent if it's earlier rather than later.. if it's sunset, i'd prefer Outdoor..

Outdoor is a definite...either tent would be dangerously packed with people trying to catch a glimpse of the star of (500) Days of Summer.

That's fine because everyone on-stage in the Gobi during the daytime looks like shadow people, anyway.

I'm not really diggin' the new single either. It's just kinda whatever I guess.

Zooey also had a guest appearance position in one of the Bones television series episodes that her sister stars in. It was quite surprising and interesting to see them both on the screen at the same time doing their acting shindig.

I actually listened to this album for the first time last night. I was expecting it to be boring acoustic singer/songwriter type stuff. Much to my surprise, the album actually had a little bounce to it and I found it to be quite stuff. The music goes all over the place too and, while being very "indie," they aren't restricte by genres. If there are no conflicts, I would definitely check them out.

It's also Zooey's voice which is kind of a jazzy throwback to the 50s.

I'd melt if Leon Redbone came out and performed this with Zooey. Though hearing a song about it being cold outside in 100 degree heat probably not a great idea.

This is definitely a must-see band for me. Zooey's musicianship has improved immensely since she teamed up with M. Ward and he is nothing short of a musical and harmonic genius.

I like their style because it's jazzy and simple.

I had the opprotunity to see the first performance She & Him ever did, to close Noisepop in San Francisco in 2008. Anyone concerned about Zooey's voice sounding processed can rest assured it's naked when they perform live. They were amazing, very subdued and focused on the song at hand. M. Ward takes a major backseat to Zooey, so don't go if you're only amped for him or hoping for solo stuff. I highly suggest any interested parties get up front - I can't envision seeing She & Him from the way back of any stage and having the same experience or intimacy.

I think she has a unique and fairly interesting voice, which both times I have seen them live has irritated me completely within the first two songs. She is hot... I get it, but if that voice came out of a less attractive package there would be significantly less people interested. M. I really, really don't get why people like her so much. I've seen her in Tin Man, The Happening, and 500 Days of Summer, and it's like she has one acting mode - i.e. vapid and emotionless talking mannequin. It's like there's absolutely no one home behind that glassy stare. My opinion of She & Him is that it's pretty much the aural equivalent of the same.

Yeah, okay, she's hot, but it just boggles my mind.

Judging anyone from that abortion is probably not wise. Unless you are judging their project-picking abilities. She is adorable in Elf, Big Trouble, and Yes Man, but I agree her schtick gets old. And she was a terrible Trillian.

I have a little thing for her sister Emily, though.

I thought they were boring at Sasquatch.

And she was a terrible Trillian.

OMG I totally blocked that one out...

Though, admittedly, I've never been a huge fan of Trillian in general. Did you see the BBC series?... that actress was equally lame.

Much worse, actually. Trillian isn't that great of a character to begin with, but she deserves better than what she's had onscreen. Zooey and/or the screenwriter actually gave her a little more depth in the movie, but she still wasn't right. Trillian is supposed to be a physicist or something.

I don't know if I'd say worse... but I just hate Deschanel that much ;)

Yeah, Trillian was kind of a throw-away, but at least in the books she was fleshed out enough that there was a point for her being there, aside from just being the token chick. And, Adams does give her a few good lines.

What irritated me more than Trillian in general was in So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, where Adams seemed to need to make it up to Arthur for not shacking him up with her, and thusly shacked him up instead with the equally annoying and entirely superfluous Fenchurch.

Edit... sorry for the derail. And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

my thoughts on zooey:

also i wish zooey would stop with the band shit. she is fucking boring and is not an exceptional or interesting singer by any stretch.

i watched 500 days of summer recently. i liked it, but the whole "look at zooey, isn't she cute!" thing is getting kinda old.

i love old standards and the type of music, it is just some of the most boring shit imaginable coming from she & him.

that's a lot of vitriol.
