I think it is more of a donation thing than auction.

$100 is the minimum...it says you get the tickets for what you bid...i'd imagine that is the TM way of doing donations...at least i'm HOPING

This is LA, the land where people buy shit because it's expensive. A band like Radiohead in the hub of the see and be seen entertainment universe playing for a good cause. Peeps are going to be tossing around a lot of scratch.

I must have missed that. Does it say that somewhere on the TM site?

Never mind I was wrong. You can Re-bid

Multiple bids prohibited.

In this auction, you cannot have more than one valid bid at a time using the same credit card number or Ticketmaster account.
Increasing your bid amount cancels your previous bid.

If you rebid, your new bid for the higher amount is considered your bid, and your previous bid is no longer valid.
No cancellations.

Once you submit a bid, you may not cancel or revoke it. However, you may increase your bid at any time before the auction ends.
Bid Ranking:

Bids are ranked first by the amount bid per ticket. In case of a tie, bids are ranked by the time that the bids were placed, with earlier bids for the same amount receiving priority. If other bidders later submit higher bids, your bid may be reassigned to a lower Ticket Group or you may receive no tickets at all, depending on the quantities of tickets in those bids and in the Ticket Groups.
Payment:

If you have a valid winning bid when the auction ends, you agree to pay, and your credit card will be charged 1) a per ticket price equal to the amount of your winning bid, 2) a delivery fee (if applicable), and 3) a processing fee.

The auction is also subject to the Auction Terms and the Ticketmaster Policies which shall be considered part of the auction rules

Hope this clarifies some stuff up for yall.

Tickets for this show are only available through this auction. Tickets are not transferable. There is a 2 ticket limit per household. Will Call is the only delivery method for this auction.

The entire show is general admission and auction winners will pay what you bid.

All proceeds including ticket fees to benefit Oxfam America - Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 100 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for social justice.

Just another reason to love Radiohead though. This is going to make some $.

can you see where you stand when you bid? i don't see anything saying it is silent.

The whole description says your bid is assigned a ranking if its equal to somebody else, and it goes up or down depending on what you do after that. You figure it shows your status on the one bid you have going and you keep an eye on that since you cant multiple bid.

kroqken
01-21-2010, 05:26 PM
I am still sad that Haiti had to go what they did for Radiohead to perform in 2010 in California. I would rather have not had an earthquake even if it meant no Radiohead show. Nonetheless, I hope this concerts raises a boat load of money for Haiti, which is more than a shit load of money. Let's remember the CAUSE that this concert is for and to thank Radiohead for giving it more attention.

paulthomasanderson
01-21-2010, 05:28 PM
Someone on atease put it best:

1) Bid as high as you want to go
2) Wait and hope it was high enough
3) Make angry "FUCK YOU RICH CELEBRITY ASSHOLES WHO DARE HELP HAITI!" posts here when you inevitably don't get a ticket.

I'll definitely record something from it if I get a ticket, probably any new songs which will more or less get played.

kroqken

Scalpers/ticket agencies are bidding on these tickets. Even if they have a name printed on the ticket situation like NIN they'll still be able to sell off the second one for an insane price to offset the cost of both.

It's also forcing fans to scalp. Everyone I know only wanted one to be able to bid as much as they could afford. With forcing people to buy two, you are put in a situation in which you would HAVE to scalp the second ticket to help offset the total cost (if you were to win which by the looks of it, there will be no common folk at this show).

Do you two have any idea what market price means?? The tickets are going to go for whatever the public determines is the true value, probably around a grand. Now scalping occurs when tickets with a market price of a grand only get sold for $100. The difference between market price and purchase price is the profit for the scalper and creates the incentive to scalp. if the purchase price is equal to the market price than there is no profit and no incentive for scalpers so no scalped tickets sold. It has nothing to do with the way tickets are being distributed at the show.

Let me put it this way anyone willing to pay those high prices is already in on the auction bidding those prices.

also i don't think gv has many (if any) tickets to this thing. no guest list, no holds for sale in house.

I hope they at least stream the concert online .

Oh come on it's not your average show. No way they stream it online.

Huh... We're nearly 5 hours in and $225 per is still a winning ticket. This thing may not climb much higher than $500-700 a pop. Or so I hope...

yeah it might be less than 2,000. when i first heard about this i was saying tix are gonna be at least a grand each, but that was thinking they'd be sold individually. i think they actually shot themselves in the feet selling them in pairs. they would have made more money selling them individually.
