From Minneapolis, LAX usually gives the cheaper rates.

Burbank is smaller and easier to get out of and the traffic out of it is not bad. LAX depending on what time you come your looking at some heavy traffic going back to LA or to Indio. Good Luck.

GPS, PSP is most definitely priced out for me. well over $500.

infestma, thanks for the info.

BUR hands down.

Also check into SNA (Orange County) and SAN (San Diego).

Also, check into flying out of Kansas City rather than Witchita.

i flew into SAN last year. very nice and easy airport, much impressed. wasn't as impressed with my ride, but that's a totally different thread. i normally fly out of kc going east. MCI (kc) -- BNA (nashville) for bonnaroo or MCI -- MDW (chicago midway) for lollapalooza, for example. but for some reason, flying west is more expensive. i truly prefer southwest over other airlines (no baggage fees, part of their rapid rewards program, etc.). i've even checked out prices from okc and tulsa. living in wichita requires a regional perspective when it comes to air travel. thanks for the opinion on BUR, cap.

I know a name change can be a big deal in some ways but I wish they would update the codes for airports. Do you know why Nashville is called BNA? It used to be at Berry Field Nashville. It hasnt been there for over 20 years ... Get up to date ... cr****

It's too much of a hassle to change the airport codes. They're ingrained into an international system.

i've always wondered why nashville was BNA... i know chicago's o'hare is ORD because it used to be orchard field or orchard airport or some other nonsense dealing with orchard. read it on a plaque when i was there once.

Flights from Houston to Palm Springs are super cheap right now. I booked mine a month ago and paid over $400. I just booked my wife's for $214.00. WTF? I tried getting mine reduced but no dice.

Flights are cheaper this time of year; it's the off-season for airlines.

I think LAX is a lot cheaper. Plus, since it's a bigger airport, there are more shuttles, taxis, buses, the metro to get you where you're going.

I wish this were true from Minneapolis... Some 1-stops have decent rates but the non-stops... ugh.

psp is worth the extra cost for the hours and hours of driving and hassle you save

Also, consider the cost of the rental car (if you're getting one). It's way cheaper to get a rental car out of LAX than it is out of PSP. More cars=lower prices. I just got a car rental out of LAX for next weekend through carrentals.com for $10 a day. If we flew into BUR, the cheapest would be $37 a day.

Ron, wouldn't that mean it should be BFN? This doesn't explain what BNA stands for.

Constructed as a Works Progress Administration project, the airport was dedicated in 1936, and officially opened in June of 1937. It was named Berry Field in honor of Colonel Harry S. Berry, State Administrator of the WPA. The three letter identifier, BNA, stands for Berry Field NAshville. The new airport consisted of a terminal building, two hangars, a 4,000 ft. concrete runway and a flashing beacon. American and Eastern airlines were the first air carriers to serve Nashville, and within the year, 189,000 passengers had used the facilities.

agreed... that's the reason I've had to fly to LAX everytime. LAX is even an expensive option this time around... bummer. I think I'm flying into San Diego, but that won't be confirmed until mid Feb. I've even thought about flying into Vegas and driving from there.

I've never had any problems at LAX, and the only traffic problems I have are in Indio. 3 hours last year from the highway to Coachella, it's only like a mile!!

Closest with the least trouble getting out of is the Ontario airport.
I don't know about the prices, but check the map out:

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Ontario+International+Airport,+Ontario, +CA+91761+(Ontario+International+Airport)&geocode=FTe6BwIduZf9-CkpI7kZ_DTDgDGRhUhTMWS9TA%3BFazrAQIdulMT-SmvPM6HjljagDH4vJd7eRxS_Q&dirflg=&daddr=coachella&f=d&sll=33.856732,-117.121124&sspn=1.158662,1.674042&ie=UTF8&ll=33.861293,-116.880798&spn=1.158601,1.674042&z=10

(Just realized that you said Ontario was too much $$....I have a short attention span & never read things all the way through, sorry.)

I didn't say they were perfect:

B= barry field
NA=Nashville

I was at that airbase for a while sitting in my little air traffic control spot and waving at the airplanes .... cr*****

O'Hare International, and its ORD code? Well once upon a time, before the editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune, Colonel Robert McCormick suggested a name change as tribute to pilot Lt. Cmdr. Edward "Butch" O'Hare, United States Navy, there was an airstrip well to the northwest of Chicago with a quaint, peaceful name—Orchard Field.

Burbank is awesome. They still wheel the stairs up to most planes there and you come out into the hot California air and look at the palm trees as you walk down the stairway I love it, not to mention it is about 5 minutes to I-5 and you can even hit the 210 hwy over there and come-out way ahead of la traffic on the 10 east... Lax is cheaper but your time in hours negates the savings.. my other suggestion would be to try to fly to Phoenix then palm springs... Phoenix is a pretty decent hub for this area..

Granite Slab Countertops Bellevue (http://blackpebbleinteriors.com/blog/granite-slab-countertops-benefits/)

Personally, I frequently fly into Ontario. Alaska airlines has great deals to that airport if anyone is interested.

$245 round-trip from PDX to LAX. Might have to lock that one up.
