I'm excited to finally get to see them live. Should be an awesome show. They will probably play a lot of stuff from their soon to be released second album.

I haven't heard their second album yet, but seeing them in L.A., they did pretty much the entire first album and two songs of the second... those songs were probably the weakest part of the show.

Best part was pretty definitely "Will There Be Enough Water", where Jack White tore the place down on guitar.

Can't wait! I hope they play a warm up gig befor hand that I can catch. By far my favorite album of the year. Every single song just flows together so smoothly. If they play the mainstage I hope it is during the same time slot as Thievory Corp last year and most of the set is at night. If not I would love to see them close out the Mojave during Muse.

Yes! Surprisingly I thought they had the best set over everyone. Their sleek presence and pure rock power made for a fantastic show.

Been into them since I found out Mark Brzezicki of Big Country was depping with them on drums - way back in the day (he's the one who looks out of place in the She Sells video); but I've only seen them once live and that was just last year in Glasgow :(

Never a man for rest, Jack White now insists that The Dead Weather will have its followup in your ears by April — as in this April. Yes, less than a year after its debut, last year’s Horehound, The Dead Weather will be conquering the sophomore slump… and with Jack White at the lead, apparently. Someone get the respirator, we’re about to have a heart attack.

In an interview with Australian radio station, Triple J, White told listeners, “[The Dead Weather are] finishing recording the last couple of songs and then I’m going to start mixing in the next two weeks, so yeah it should be out in April.” He then broke news that he, not Alison Mosshart, would be singing front and center on the album’s first single, “Blue Blood Blues”. Oh, he also hinted that the new record will be “bluesier and heavier than we ever thought we could be.” How is that even possible? Right, stupid question to ask.

White also leaked some details about Third Man Records, alluding to another pop-up shop that will sneak up, attack, and surprise folks down in Austin, TX during SXSW. So for those attending, keep your eye out for a Third Man Records and Novelties kiosk-thingie-majig.

Muse
Faith No More
Les Claypool
PORCUPINE TREE (absolutely amazing live, best prog metal band out there)

Spoon
de la soul
infected mushroom

WORST ACTS OF THE YEAR

Passion Pit (Terrible)

MGMT (used to be alright but they've gotten worse recently/played out)
David Guetta(bad)
the Dead Weather (TERRIBLE!!!)
Dirty Projectors (bad)
the XX(way overrated, not good)

Phoenix (overrated too, not good)
MUTEMATH (bad)

I have to disagree with you here. And I'm pretty sure Alison would disagree also. She even made up a new stage name for herself when she started the Kills in order to distance herself from her former band. The Kills and The Dead Weather are amazing bands, Discount, not so much. I mean Discount is alright for emo pop punk, but has nothing on her later projects.

The Dead Weather and The Kills put out two of my favorite albums from the last half-decade, and both their live shows are awesome. I think Jack has his hands more than full with her - two kind of crazy, very talented folks who stalk around stage trying hard not to glare at too many people. :) As a collaboration, it kills Them Crooked Vultures, notwithstanding the lower billing. They've been playing new stuff live for a while. Their new album is supposed to drop in April. I will put $333 on them playing lots of new shit that will blow everyone away. I hope the skeptics are there watching and they bitch slap themselves for ever doubting this band.

True to all that! Now the band's got down to recording and fine-tuned all of the shit. This next CD is definitely going to turn more heads than their last one. As I said, this one rips bones out instead of rattling them. I'm not even fucking joking, I've seen it happen with my own eyes.

One of the best on the album, and they don't play it live!

I think the reason they never play it live is because it isn't a song they wrote, it was just a jam session that they got on tape while they were in the studio. Any band that can pull something like that track out of nowhere is awesome!

I'm getting a 7" of the first recordings from the new album in a week or so. I'm very excited!

I was actually staring at the soundboard setlist for a while. But I do not remember much. I know they closed with Treat Me Like Your Mother which was one of four encores. They did a duet at one point that gave me chills. Basically a mix of their last album and this new one coming out in May. I would pay $100 to see them again, possibly more. I could have left after the first 4 songs and been totally satisfied. That is how good this band is. Holy Fuck!

I wasn't sure which dead weather thread to post this in, but this is funny:

Jack White laid into the celebrity-filled audience at The Dead Weather's gig at Don Hill's in New York on Wednesday (August 4), labelling them "hip motherfuckers".

The band were playing a secret show at the relaunch party of Don Hill's to an audience who included the likes of Sean Lennon, Liv Tyler, Alexa Chung and Mary-Kate Olsen.

According to New York Daily News, White is said to have taken offence at the less-than-enthusiastic crowd.

"Fuck you, you hip motherfuckers!" he told the audience at one point. "Why don't you rock the fuck out? Maybe I should go grab those free drinks and shove them down your throats, you hip motherfuckers!"

White is also said to have stopped the gig midway through to have an audience member in the front row thrown out because he was taking photos of the band.

However, towards the end of the bands set White did make an apology to the crowd.

"I'm sorry I blew up at you guys earlier," he said, adding: "Thanks for coming out."

I'm beginning to doubt a white stripes reunion for some reason.

In an interview with contactmusic.com Jack White claims that working with The White Stripes would be "strange". "It would definitely be strange to go into The White Stripes again and have to rethink my game," adding "But that would be the best thing about it, because it would be a whole new White Stripes."

Well, that quote certainly didn't give you any reason to doubt it. So why are you doubting it? Also, they didn't really break up, they just canceled a tour. There is no ill will between the two. Is it because he said he would have to rethink his game and that is what would make it awesome?

If we can trust Jack Lawrence:

Members of The Dead Weather will soon be going back to their other projects; however, Lawrence predicts that by the end of the year, the band "will either be recording or doing some more shows. I don't think we can stop; even if someone was too busy, nothing seems like it's going to be getting in the way of this," he says. "Our other bands are still alive, obviously, but this one is right up there. It doesn't feel like a side project or anything to us. It feels like a real band.

Yeah, we just feel the same way about the opposite bands. You described how I feel about The Dead Weather. Something about those songs have a groove and make me want to rock. I feel so much more emotion in the songs where I feel the Raconteurs are telented musicians just kind of jamming or going through the motions. I also tend to like female vocalists and that dark, heavy blues sound. They definitely seem to have some Black Sabbath influence in them too.
