When I think Tommy Morrison I always think about his fight with Michael Bentt. He got his ass beat pretty badly by him back in the day(think it was '93 or '94). He really got his shit handed to him. I remember watching it and thinking total annihilation.

But regardless, this is pretty exciting news. Hope he does make a successful comeback.

Horseshit.
The guy claims he was misdiagnosed and it took 10 years to find this out? Wouldn't a bunch of follow up test be the FIRST thing you do after turning up HIV positive? Now he's starting a "comeback" in a state that does not require a blood test?

Total bullshit. His blood's still dirty. He's just drumming up publicity looking for a payday to fund his HIV treatment. Then I guarantee we'll never see him again.

The 'Hitman' Hatton ... the best boxer at the moment without a doubt.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Is that way he got destroyed by Collazo? Is that? He's not even the fucking best at his weight class. Maybe he's the best in your lil world. Cotto is going to break his pussy-assed face, and I'm going to make a lot of mint off of it. You keep believing that the lowest of low class is the best in boxing, and I will continue making more money off of inflated lines on account of delusional fangirls like yourself.

DeltaSigChi4

I didn't change your quote. I simply snipped it.

Irregardless if you think he is the single best fighter, or among the top twenty fighters, is irrelevant. Your opinion is tainted with his [pun intended] taint. Quit hugging nuts and maybe you will be able to take a breathe of fresh air. Cotto is unbeaten, and unlike Hatton, he doesn't dodge fighters. And he hasn't fought 90% of his fights in his homeland to avoid impartial decisions once his fights goes to the judge's cards.

Why do you think so?

because I don't believe that he went all those years without so much as a follow up test. That's completely ridiculous. It's not even about how stupid he is. At that point he had to have an army of underwriters at his heels trying to get the whole "you have AIDS" thing confirmed. There's millions of dollars at stake. It's not as if Joe Crackhead got some bad news at the free clinic and decided to crawl into a bottle. AIDS tests aren't hard to get done. He had money. He had motivation enough to be one of the world's best boxers. I don't buy his bullshit story.

And now he's fighting somewhere that requires no blood test. hmmmm.

Full of shit.

the list goes on and on. Was out there for 4 days couple a years ago.
Had a blast. How much are PRIDE tickets, anyway?

High 60s to high 600s are the price of the tickets I believe.

Cheapest tickets are under 60$.

The thing with the Thomas and Mack is that it is so huge, that you can easily move down. For Pride32 we moved down to over 750$ seats. We paid for 100$ tickets. This time around I downgraded the tickets. :)

That's gotta rack up some coins.

Easily made up with intelligent sportsbetting.

For example, for 67, I parlayed heavy favourites [Silva, Cro-Cop, Rampage, and Machida] on one card to make a bit under 250$. I'm still thinking about how to take this event on.

E

DeltaSigChi4

I'd pay high 60's. Probably high 200's for a good one. I'd have to know in advance, though. Gotta have time to save up. lol

Let me know in advance, look me up on couchsurfing [once I make my "couch" avail when I move], and stay in our guestroom. MMA community is tight -- we need more people to come together to defeat the evils of a monopoly of MMA in America. *raises fist

Never heard of him before this post. Just watched a couple vids on youtube. One being his fight vs. Kultar Gill where Hideo gets knocked out, and the second being a rather mediocre highlight film. Eh. Cool dude nonetheless. Wicked subs, and might do ok in the UFC light weight division. My fave Japanese fighter of all time has to be Genki Sudo. What ever happened to him?

Anyway...Cro Cop rules the world. I think he's the best hvy weight in the world, despite his loss to Fedor a few years ago.

Genki retired a couple months back.

Crocop is amazing. Fedor, to me, is the greatest heavyweight, but Crocop certainly gave him the toughest fight of his career. I would have loved to see a re-match but with him jumping ship to UFC, we may never see it.

Like I said before, I don't have much Martial Arts experience aside from some Judo years ago. I've kinda picked up some stuff intuitively along the way.
But jiu-jitsu fascinates me. I was watching this thing on Eddie Bravo's rubber guard. I don't know much about Bravo other than he's buddies w/ fellow MMArtist/comedian Joe Rogan. But the Rubber Guard looked hella effective if a guy (or girl) actually knew what they were doing with it?

Any of you guys seen this?

I only train in Muay Thai so I can't comment on BJJ, but watching it, I'd have to agree it looks very effective. After I gain a bit of experience, I'm definitely going to learn BJJ. There's a Chute Boxe Academy near where I live too in Santa Monica.

DeltaSigChi4
02-22-2007, 11:37 PM
We need to talk. lol. Cuz I'm not a afraid to gamble and I'm usually picking the winner. But, then again, I guess it's not gambling if you know what you're doing.

Yeah. Some would say that parlaying is stupid, and that if you wager on each of your picks separately, your payout is the same, as long as you wager the amount needed blah blah blah.

In order to make 250$ on -1100, -850, -450, and -300 odds [that's off the top of my head], you'll have to risk a lot of bankroll. In order to make 250$ off of those four fights, even though the odds are ridiculously favoured, you need to risk 3 bills.

So, I'm looking at heavy favourites, because I don't believe in any of the dogs this upcoming event. I've banked off of dogs in the past (Silva in UFC64, MacDonald in 66), but I'll parlay heavy favourites this time around again.

Looking at Wand, Gomi, Nog, Sakurai, Hansen, and Shogun. Throw in Kharnitonov for good measure. We'll see. A parlay like that, with a few bills on the line, could pay for your ticket -- flight and attendance that is.

Never heard of him before this post. Just watched a couple vids on youtube. One being .....

You had to have bared witness to the unbelievable moment when Tokoro slayed the then #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Pequeno Nog, with one swell swoop. After witnessing that fight, yu would've had to become a believer.

Rubber Guard

Any of you guys seen this?

Oh yeah. I worked with it a lot on my own [with some "students"] when I had nothing better to do with plenty of downtime during lunchtime in the middle east. I can send you his book by way of Megaupload or YSI if you'd like.

I would have loved to see a re-match but with him jumping ship to UFC, we may never see it.

Sakiraba, Pride/DSE's President, claims that CC leaving to the UFC is all a part of a masterplan [hence him coming out to Pride's theme in his UFC debut], and Cro-Cop has said that he will dominate in the UFC, then leave to fight Fedor again.

Nah, it's that I've been banned from so many MMA forums, that once you get me started, it's hard to shut me up. I'll try to give a different perspective from things in the upcoming days. I went to both "training sessions" the last two days, and will be at the weigh-ins tomorrow. Hopefully this will be a successful follow-up event for Pride. Oh my...just found that fight and watched it.

Spinning back fist in sudden death! Ok, this guy is cool. However, I disagree with you calling him the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world. I believe Fedor to be the best pound for pound fighter, despite him being a heavy weight.

DeltaSigChi4
02-23-2007, 09:48 PM
No, no. You misunderstood. I never called Tokoro the #1 p4p, or even Pequeno Nog, but stated that Pequeno was then considered the #1 p4p. Right now, the majority of the MMA community views Kid Yamamoto as the #1 p4p, not Fedor. It's strange, I know. Fedor is absolutely outstanding, but Kid's dominance cannot be ignored.

Also, if you'd like fights that you cannot find on YT, or whathaveyou, I could start posting a link every so often so you can see new stuff [or new to you]. I have a trove [sp] of highlights on this machine.

And before I go to bed: What the flyin' F@CK happened w/ Roy Jones Jr.??
I mean, on top o' the world one day, ringside the next.
I don't know...........it just threw me for a loop.......

I think jones go too big of a head when he beat john Ruiz, who in my opinion goes down as one of the worst heavy weight champs ever.

But once that happened he thought he could be anyone , and his self confidence was his downfall. There were fights before that that he barely won, but people still built him up to be unstopable.
Still, even i was shocked at that second loss, he'll never be the same fighter he was.

He also got all caught up in marketing and showmanship.

Well, a lot to discuss ...

Pride33 was quite the event. I was so enthralled by the fights that I didn't even move down to a better section. Didn't want to miss any action. Here are some pics I took in between marking out with the rest of the fans ...

And then there was UFC 68 the other day ... taking place in Ohio of all places ...

Pride34 was canceled. Ed Fisherman is being a cunt. A lot of enthusiasts have openly called for the yakuza to come touch him, I'd just like for him to bury his feud and allow Pride to have events in Vegas.

I can get links to both the Pride33 fights and UFC68 if anyone missed them and would like to dl/watch them.

Pride 33 was amazing. Great wars and great knock-outs. Loved Wandy's KTFO by Hendo. Mauricio Rua prevented Chute Boxe from complete embarassment and Team Quest was a definite surprise.

The Gomi/Diaz war was amazing. Gomi definitely underestimated Diaz and got punished for it.

Sakurai's bout with Danzig was a good one as well. Was great seeing Sakurai taking Danzig's head off his shoulders. It was a bit of a mismatch, but whatever. It was a good KO.

With shows like that, it's difficult to understand why PRIDE FC is struggling.

Anyway, the only drawback was that they didn't allow normal PRIDE rules. Soccer kicks and stomps to the head were sorely missed. And I wonder if some of the results would have turned out different had they been allowed.

DeltaSigChi4
03-05-2007, 08:50 PM
Well, you can blame the NSAC for the no knees while on the ground, or kicks to the head while on the ground.

In other Pride33 news, Nick Diaz reportedly just tested positive for drugs in his post-fight testing. Marijuana. Heh.

And this news just left me with my mouth open ...

CONCORD, Mass. - Rulon Gardner has a whole new tale of survival to add to his motivational speeches.

The Olympic gold medalist was back on a plane, back on the speaker's circuit and back on a wrestling mat just days after a plane crash plunged him into a frigid lake near the Arizona-Utah border. Adding the encounter to his growing list of near-miracles, Gardner said Tuesday that his harrowing weekend "is an experience I still can't comprehend."

"I saw God. I saw Jesus. I saw my dead brother. They told me it's time to come home," Gardner told the students and faculty at a suburban Boston prep school. "I said, 'Please, not yet. I'm just starting to get good.'"

Wearing jeans on a campus where they're not allowed and a leather jacket adorned with the Olympic rings, Gardner spoke at the Middlesex School about setting goals and reaching them for about an hour. When the theater had to clear out for national French exams, he went over to the athletic building to give a wrestling clinic.

Why hop on a plane just two days after crashing in one? For the same reason he resumed wrestling just six months after he nearly lost his feet to frostbite in a previous outdoor ordeal.

"My friends asked me, 'What are you trying to prove?'" Gardner told the hushed crowd. "I said, 'Nothing to you, but something to me.'"

An aspiring pilot, Gardner was a passenger in a small plane that clipped the surface of Good Hope Bay with its wheels on Saturday and splashed into the icy water. Although he isn't much of a swimmer, his friends coaxed him into leaving behind his "man purse" and jacket and swimming the backstroke 2 miles to shore.

The three huddled together overnight for warmth until morning, when they were spotted by a fishing boat and rescued.

"You worry when you start getting goofy," Gardner said. "I was there. I pulled myself back."

Gardner's visit to this sprawling campus a few miles from the birthplace of the American Revolution had been arranged since the fall. But the folks at Middlesex weren't sure whether to expect him after hearing about his accident.
