I think 2010 is way better then 2009. Gorillaz, Thom Yorke, LCD Soundsystem, Sly and the Family Stone, 2manydjs, major lazer are awesome! But where the hell is David Bowie?

i agree, with the one stipulation that sly is not in good shape. the last show he "played" i read reviews that he was on stage for a third of the time and not sounding too tip top.

The best thing about 2010 is that it's happening right now.

2009 is so 2009.

2010 is better. Way more rare/exclusive acts this time around. Not that 2009 didn't kick ass as well though.

Last year I was planning on going to Coachella for my first time, but the lineup had nothing that interested me enough.

This year, I'm coming.

2010. 2009 had to many bands that I'd seen quite a few times before

for me, 2010 is better for dj/electro music, 2009 was better for indie music.

As I said in another thread, Bowie is basically retired since he had his heart attack a few years ago.

2009 was the least impressive Coachella I have been to, and I've been to 6 of 'em. 2010 is looking very solid indeed.

I loved 09, but the watchword for 2010 is "Density of quality"

And its only gonna get better. :)

Classic mistake. Once you are there you will understand that it really doesn't matter who is playing. It's great when they can get a solid lineup but it's really just about being there. you'll see.

Headliners are better overall in 2010.
Friday in 2009 was better though
Hard to top -
Los Campinesos > Cage the Elephant > Ting Tings > Franz > Leonard Cohen > Moz > Macca

This year's a year where I'll actually stay to watch all three headliners' encores. Last year I barely watched The Killers or The Cure.

For his musical interest it probably is out of this world, just like Friday for me is fuckin amazing. I get to go Aeroplane->Wolfgang Gartner->Proxy->?The Dillinger Escape Plan?->Erol Alkan->Benny Benassi->LCD Soundsystem->Jay-Z. It probably wont happen in that order, but if it did, it would be one amazing day/night of music.

I think 2010 is better because I get to see artists that i've been wanting to see forever like the Gorillaz, Faith No More, Public Image Limited, De La Soul, Orbital, Devo, Gary Numan, and Thom Yorke

Plus artists that I haven't seen in over ten years like The Specials, Pavement, Echo And The Bunnymen, and Les Claypool.

Along with alot of great returning artists like LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Muse, Vampire Weekend and others

I definetly had a blast in 09 but it didnt compare to previous years and 2010 is more promising.

As far as Bowie not on this lineup again this year, it sucks but oh well. It seems like every year that's the big rumor and everyone complains when he's not on the poster. I would love to see Bowie but its not happening this year.

The only good thing about Bug & Warrior Queen was the shock of Warior Queen grinding her snatch on the speaker, other than that the performance sucked. Shepard Fairey was one of the highlights of your weekend? really?

I don't remember where we read this, but GV said they talk to some acts every year (Radiohead, Bowie, etc.) just to feel them out. They know what we want, no doubt.

I don't think we'll ever see Bowie, because he's really in very very poor health, and the energy of putting together a show would be massive. What's in it for him, you know?

Although I did have a dream that I was in the Gobi at noon and Bowie randomly came out and played a brief acoustic set, starting with Rebel Rebel.

hmmmm that doesn't make sense. I can't speak on behalf of other people, but for the group I stay with, we always book our house when the dates are announced.

I always know that PT and GV will bring an amazing lineup. It's more about the experience of being there and knowing that 100 of your closest friends are also running around the festival.

But I'm assuming I'm much older than you if you've never been before.

2010's undercard is one of the best I've ever seen.. While I'm a bit disappointed with some of the DJ's/dance acts this year, Friday and Sunday are a music lovers wet dream.. So many conflicts on Friday.. Saturday will be a nice day to just chill and do some investigating, as I try to see as many new acts as possible. I feel Sat. is by far the weakest of the days..
I remember in 2007 just showing up to the Avett Bros set. (whom I had never heard of) and being completely blown away)..

no doubt 2009 > 2010. the headliners this year are disappointing, too much electro. the caliber of the artists last year was much higher. its still going to be awesome though.

2009 had a really good friday (Paul McCartney!), some great popular indie acts Saturday, and My Bloody Valentine and some other great acts on Sunday. It was a pretty great lineup, but Sunday this year beats any of the days last year. Saturday has some great acts but is incredibly weak with the bigger names (I'm hoping that add somebody spectacular). Friday is very good with the subheadliners and 3rd/4th liners, and has a few other great acts here and there. If it wasn't for Sunday this year I would say last year was definitely better, but this Sunday is looking to be one of the best days Coachella has ever had.

Getting Orbital and Gorillaz at the same festival never mind the same day would have been laughed at as absurd a year ago. This lineup is by far the best since I started attending Coachella in 2007.

Grace Jones, Fever Ray, LCD and the Specials all in one day? Yeah. That's a winner.

The only thing that sucks about this year is the possible conflicts, I think the only thing last year I missed out on was Henry Rollins and les savy fav the year before that.

With the exception of Sir Pablo Mac last year, the first 4 lines of this year's poster are far superior to 09. This year's Sunday reminds me of last years Friday, in that I am royally screwed and am likely going to miss a number of 'not to miss" "must-see" shows. When all is said and done however, greater diversity and quality IMO for 2010.
