It may not be labeled as a rave but there are going to be a lot of people there that enjoy the rave scene and they're bringing in amazing dj's... You can't get angry about it just enjoy it. If you don't like it stay away from the area that has all the ravers I guess.

it is not a rave. if you happen to find yourself in the rave-ish tent however, be prepared for a visually beautiful spectrum of lights paired with heavy, heavy music and 20,000 people moving all around you to the pulsating beats.

if that's not fun, i don't know what it.

lowfront

Rave or rave party is a term first used in the 1980s and 90s to describe dance parties (often all-night events) with fast-paced electronic music and light shows often known as a club for adolescents. At these parties DJs and other performers play electronic dance music, including house, trance, techno and jungle (often collectively referred to as "rave music"),with the accompaniment of laser light shows, projected images and artificial fog. Raving has an essential slogan acronym, "PLUR", which stands for "peace, love, unity, and respect", and sometimes rendered "PLURR" with an additional "R" for "responsibility".

i was reading an article about gary richards which im pretty sure was LA times, and it rerferred to coachella as a rave haha. im trying to find the link to that article again. But do you really think "raver kids" will spring for the 300 dollars if they are only interested in electronic acts , when they could go to beyond wonderland and both days at EDC for like 150 ?

I came from boston to see rage against the machine in 07. The sahara tent quickly became my favorite place in the world. And the rage performance at the end of the festival although good, wasn't too much of a highlight for me....... the sahara takes the cake.

I came back every year since for it......

So yes there are people that travel just for the dance party

but I did watch roger waters....and see a bunch of snippets of other stuff of course

01-31-2010, 09:06 PM
well im just saying for local "raver kids" the easy alternative would seem to be beyond wonderland and edc. if they were still selling single day tickets however, there would be tons more people in my opinion there simply for the sahara

well , your friends are a pretty big exception if you ask me. I dont know many college age kids willing to drop 300 on 4 acts. and that amount is before gas money, food money, camping/loding money, DRUG money and everything else that comes along with a 3 day weekend of hard partying. all things considered thats about a $500 for 4 acts.

From what I've heard and what I've read, Coachella is what you make of it.

I think if people have an issue with 'ravers' or kids in the Sahara tent who are rolling, just avoid them.
I'm planning on inturpreting part of the festival as a rave, one night in the tent.

People just need to realize this festival isn't put together JUST FOR THEM, you're gonna find all types of people there and complaining about them isn't going to make them disappear. It'd be easier for you to accept it and be friendly, or just ignore them altogether.

My two cents. Done.

word.

semi-related question: does anyone know of infected mushroom??? clearly, after (barely) surviving the concert/rave two weekends ago and seeing the roughly 3500 fellow concertgoers/ravers, the answer would seem apparent. but many of those just went for rave festivities... infected mushroom. anyone? anyone? bueller?

you have no idea how popular Coachella has become with the CA college kids, which seems to be due to the increasing popularity in EDM and the gaining popularity of X again.

there will be a shitttttt load of teenagers there only for the sahara.

durrrrrrrrdee
03-03-2010, 06:07 PM
i consider the sahara tent my own personal rave each year, and by the looks of it so do many others. being that i went to raves for many, many years in my past it gives me the feeling of one all over again, therefore re-gaining my love for EDM. of course the lazers and wall of cabinets adds to the "vibe" as well.

I just wish there was more DnB...yet i'll still be in there more than any other stage.

People like that have just seemed to come around the scene in the past year or so.

darn tootin'......my Ultra breakfast was quite filling indeed, I scrambled Orbital and Swedish House Mafia with solid helpings of Carl Cox and Fedde Le Grand......even had a little breakfast dessert with Armand Van Helden and M.A.N.D.Y. at some after-parties......but after all that goodness in my tummy, I'm beginning to get oh so hungry for lunch........if GV could add a few options to my lunch menu, I'd be thrilled, but content with my choices thus far..........
