View Full Version : WHy does Massachusetts have to ruin my day?

kroqken

I thought today was going to be all positive with the Coachella lineup and all but those stupid voters in Massachusetts had to RUIN my high by voting in that crypto-fascist/Republican Scott Brown to Ted Kennedy's old U.S. Senate seat. Oh well, the Democratic candidate, Martha Coakley, was a LOUSY candidate. I wish one of the Democratic house members was the nominee, than we would not be in this mess.

Massachusetts stole my fucking iPod last week, but I don't have any proof except for this wall of suspicious newspaper clippings!

I had a pretty shitty day, too, despite the lineup release.

I feel that one party having the Presidency & the Congress is not a good thing. I like checks & balances - and the fact that bipartisanship is needed to pass stuff.

What needs to happn is instead of a minority of Republican senators blocking progressive legislation backed by a majority via a fillibuster, the senate should passs the bill by Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa which would kill that rediculous fillibuster once and for all.

Also, that "other party" (GOP) is not pro-gay. Although there is a gay GOP organization called the Log Cabin Republicans.

Seriously, why the fuck did Scott Brown win? I guarantee this, anyone of the 11 members of the Massachusets House delegation and the other Democratic primary candidates would have beaten Scott Brown. Coakley was an awful candidate. Former Rep Josesh P Kennedy should have run, or maybe Vickie Kennedy, Ted's widow.

As for Arizona, I am glad that Congressman John Shadegg is retiring, he is an embarassment to your fine state.

I agree that arapaio is awful, but he was reelected in 2008 and a recall against him in 2007 failed to get enough signatures to qualify. the Wikipedia article on him mentions he describes himself as "America's Toughest Sheriff."

Since the right will not work with the left even a little, the left should just go for the killer blow, fuck the right and all they stand for. Dems are looking like pussys though. If the right wants to go take a dump, use the nuclear option and say no!!!

I love that term Masshole. Interesting he referred in his victory speech to being an independent, avoiding the Republican label. I heard about the pimping out the daughters part on Stephanie Miller's radio show on Air America.

Are those his daughters? They are both hot.

2010 is going to be a painful year for Democrats. This is just the beginning.

Brace for a 1994-esque beatdown, Ken!

*** kroqken fun fact: Ken bragged in his mid-20s about regularly masturbating 5 times per day on average. He claimed not to have masturbated for 48 hours after the Democrats took the harsh beating in the '94 election.

TomAz

For a guy in his mid-20s not getting any, masturbating is undoubtedly a good thing.

Talking about it openly, though, is fucking weird.

The Democrats need to fight back and not cave into the Republicans. If they would have passed Medicare for all (single payer) right away, we could have moved on to some other issues.

John Stewart says it pretty well:

http://www.indecisionforever.com/2010/01/19/jon-stewart-on-the-massachusetts-senate-election/

Personally I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I changed to the Green Party almost 20 years ago and never looked back. Too bad we can't win anything. The problem is the 2-party system.

It will remain a 2 party system as long as we have a system of single member, winner take all districts with no proportional representation nor public financing of campaigns. Arizona has a program called "Clean Money" that may need to be treid in other states or nationwide.

John Stewart is a biased asshole.

Dude is supposed to be running a satirical political "news" program, but he basically only attacks two groups of people:

1) Republicans
2) Democrats whom have fallen out of favor with the party (such as John Edwards)

I hardly ever watch The Daily Show, but I caught it the other day after failing to change the channel when "Futurama" ended.

He started out bashing Edwards. Then he laid into GW Bush for no apparent reason, even though Bush hasn't said or done anything newsworthy in several months.

Then he got to Obama. He showed an interview with Obama talking about the mistakes he's made in his first year in office. Obama, while admitting non-specific "mistakes", went on to defend himself by saying that he thought he had always laid things out in a rational, easy-to-understand manner for the public.

I was expecting some sort of joke at Obama's expense, but I was expecting way too much out of Stewart.

Rather than criticize Obama, Stewart instead joked about the supposed ignorance of the American public. He "lectured" Obama that rational and well-thought-out policies are not what the American public wants, because we're all crazy.

Yeah, way to take our President down a peg, Johnny!

So the message is that Obama is basically without any faults, except perhaps being unable to understand that the rest of the public isn't as smart and awesome and rational as he is.

I'd expect this from a Democratic pundit, but not a guy who is supposedly tasked with satirizing everything political.

Awful.

Stewart is more transparent than Saran Wrap.

I won't make the mistake again of leaving Comedy Central on after 1:30.
