I used to love so many vids from that era, when MTV actually played music videos. I don't think they were all ridiculously stupid, but there were a few that just always cracked me up. All those Van Halen/David Lee Roth vids were classics... Hot For Teacher, California Girls, and Just a Gigalo.

Wow. First of all, this is a good find and one I'd long forgotten about. However, it is the opposite of ridiculous. It's quite smart and cool and anti-80's in visual style all around.

The song, though, is awfully horrible but the video makes it almost ironically enjoyable. I just don't have a verdict on it - though I'm pretty sure it's subject to a good feminist thrashing.

I would argue, however, that its depiction of women is part of the self-awareness of the comic book genre it's mimicking and not a blind endorsement of the restricted self-determination that it portrays.

I'm going to dream about this video tonight, I predict.
